Governor’s REPORT

As many of you already know, we will be visited by our Supreme Governor on April 27th. While this is significant, we need to be thinking about what we will do to prepare for his visit. Are we doing anything different than we normally do to prepare? The short answer should be yes, with only a few exceptions. We always have a few things that can be done. If you see something that would be best attended to, please make the suggestion.. We want to “shine” and demonstrate to the Supreme Governor that Stockdale Moose Lodge is a fantastic Lodge! If we do things the “Right Way”, every day, then we don’t have much to do or change in order to prepare for a successful visit by a dignitary. I believe we are in that category of doing things the “Right Way”, but it is easy to veer off that path over time. I ask that everyone periodically do a self-check to ensure we do things correctly so that we don’t find ourselves in a position that we need to make big changes to get back on track. I take pride in knowing that each person in our Lodge strives to do the right thing each day and live by our core values. Believe it or not, those are the qualities that make people want to join our fraternity.

Fraternally, Glenn Holland, Administrator

As winter is over and spring is here so are the flowers and allergies. However, I do not have anyone on the sick list to announce so that is a good thing and a fabulous way to end my year as Junior Regent! There are some still recuperating like Carole Dykes, Randy Neff, Bobby McCay, and Tom Esser, but am told they are doing well. Teresa Martin is also recovering from a broken arm, but is out an about. As a final note, it’s been a great year serving as Junior Regent. I couldn’t ask for a nicer group of ladies to work with and I appreciate all the guidance, patience, and love along the way. I especially want to thank my fellow Board members, Claire Acosta, Joann Esser, Marlene Lyday, Bobbie Richardson-Perry, and Jeanne Young for their support. I am sure you all will greet the next Junior Regent with open arms as you did me. Remember to support and help her by being patient while she learns her new job. I’ll be seeing you around the Lodge so until then, take care of yourselves and each other!

ATTENTION SHUFFLEBOARD ENTHUSIASTS!

Thank You all that participated and attended the March 16th Shuffleboard Tournament. We had a fun crowd, (as usual) and

some first time attendees for our tournament and they had a wonderful time. It’s nice to have some new attendees to experience what goes on during this event and to help support our Lodge. What a bunch of fun we all have! And again a BIG Love goes to Nancy Stanley for preparing a most delicious lunch for the occasion and another big thank you to participants that bring snacks and munchies for all to enjoy. Much gratitude as always!! It’s just another factor that fills this place with love, friendship and comraderies, and we all love it! Our next tournament is on April 20th, so if interested in playing please sign up on the list that will be posted by the kitchen door after the 1st. If perhaps you find the first 16 slots filled, please sign up on the reserve side due to last minute cancellations because people’s schedules do change. The “JACKPOT WINNERS” in March were Kurt Buckle and Patti Waye!!! Congratulations and well played you two. Show up time for the game is 10:30, team draw @ 10:45 and start @ 11:00 – lunch @ 1:00. Thank you and God Bless, Kim “Katfish” Stanley, Chairman 661-703-3070

Winter has ended…and Spring is here!! A new season brings new opportunities for those who are near. In March all bingo attendees received a St. Patrick’s Day dauber. The luck of the Irish shined upon a player who won the letter “M” for $1,100 and great payouts on the Special Games! The CA/NV Moose Association 2019 Mid-Year Conference and Academy of Friendship Session was held March 20-24th in Reno, NV. During the first “Spring” day of Bingo, Melanie Kelley filled in for me to allow her to travel to Reno. A big thank you goes out to Melanie for assisting me with pulling/setting up the Specials on Tuesday for the 20th. Also, Charlie Robison has left as our Bingo Casher. For any interested members who can volunteer as our cashier(s), please contact Glenn Holland or myself. Your time and help will be greatly appreciated. We continue to ask for volunteers to work our Bingo sessions on Wednesday nights. Volunteers are not required to work every Wednesday, but would rotate with our fulltime workers allowing them some time off at least once a month or in case off an illness. Please give this some thought and help support your Moose Lodge Bingo. Hoping for continued success in April….. Ann Hart, Bingo Chairperson

A BIG THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really don’t know where to begin As you read this article the CA/NV Moose Conference in Reno will be over and the Stockdale chapter will have experienced the honor of being Hostess Chapter. There is a LOT of work that goes along with this honor and the Stockdale chapter #1203 can be very proud of all the representatives. They did an excellent job. Many co-workers pitched in to help raise funds to defray costs incurred enabling so many people to go to the conference. They worked by donating prizes, baking goodies, selling them at the men’s Friday Night Steak Dinners, Thank You Loyal Order for allowing us to do so. There were also breakfasts and brunches, basket and scratcher raffles. Raising funds to afford affixing pictures and business ads to the counter top by the shuffle board table. Donated net proceeds from one WOTM Friday night Dinners. There were numerous work parties preparing for the conference and the team was always there to get the job done. A few were there to just help the Chapter get things done even though they were not going to conference. I would like to thank the following: Claire Acosta, Jerry Carter, Susan Cowan, Ann Hart, Rosa Madrid, Jeannie Young, Lisa Siebert, Melanie Kelley, Gabby McNitt, Chris Myers-Mainland, Bobbie Richardson-Perry, Gloriann Torres, Margaret Pryde, Margaret LaRosa, Marlene Lyday, Laura Sticht, Frankie Wysocki, Patty Sandene and Palmdale Chapter. There are some that worked in the background with prep work, etc. Be assured you were a definite asset and we thank you. Thank you to Deputy Grand Regent Charly Papp. You are an exceptional lady and a pleasure to work with. You were always available when needed and we were pretty needy at times. (HUGS!) Also, thank you to Past Deputy Grand Regent De4bbie Price for printing all the conference badges, you are awesome. It was a pleasure working with Barb McPherson, Grand Chancellor. We even had a few good laughs in the process. This has been a team effort in every way and what an awesome team it was. Thanks’ ladies you did yourself and the Chapter Proud. HUGS!!!! Thank you for always being there supporting all events and helping. You will each receive one dinner and one drink and share the Moose of the Month parking space. Thank you for all that you do. Don Perry, Governor For those new members that may have noticed, there is a designated parking spot outside of the Lodge for the Moose of the Month. Please do not park in this spot. It is with sadness that we share with you the news that Fresno Administrator, Gail Marlatt passed to his next life on February 15th after 19 years of dedication and hard work for Fresno Lodge #445. It is great sadness that his wife, Dee Marlatt, passed on March 23rd.

Many Stockdale members have known Gail & Dee for years. We send prayers to their family. A Memorial is planned for April 6th at the Fresno Lodge. 11:00 AM celebration for Dee and 12:00 for Gail.

Lodge Stockdale Lodge #2178 has been selected to host Harry L. Johnston, Supreme Governor of the Loyal Order of Moose, at a special dinner in his honor scheduled for 5:30 PM, Sautrday, April 27, 2019. Brother Johnston rose to become thee Moose Fraternity’s Chief Presiding Officer on July 15, 2018, elected by vote of Supreme Lodge delegates to a one-year term, at the Fraternity’s 130th International Convention in New Orleans, LA. Harry had served as Supreme Jr. Governor since July 2017, elected to that post at the 129th International Convention in Tampa, FL. Harry has served on the Supreme Council, the Fraternity’s corporate Board of Directors, since 2008. Harry joined Greeley-Evans, CO Lodge #909 in 1986. He held numerous chairs there, including that of Governor. Harry has been active as a Ritualist, and has finished in the top three individually in International Ritual competition eight times, winning the International Shining Star as Lodge Ritualist of the Year in 2004. He is a member of Pikes Peak Moose Legion #156 and served that unit as a Champion Ritualist since 1997 and as the Internatrional Champion in 2005 and 2006. Remind your prospect they will then enjoy years of fun, fellowship and security that the Moose Fraternity provides.

All Moose members and their families are invited to attend this special evening.

What Are Some Benefits of Being a

Member of the Moose Lodge???

Benefits of being a member of Moose include discounts on travel accommodations and prescription medication, access to special rates for different insurance plans and the ability to obtain dental and vision coverage, as well as cellular phone service. Members are also able to visit any participating lodge location, gain emotional and spiritual support from other members and enroll in one of its partner care facilities. The main objective of the Moose organization is to provide support and care for all its members, which include men and women of varying ages and backgrounds. After a member successfully enrolls in the organization, she may visit any of the numerous lodge locations across the country to connect with other members and participate in social events and activities, which encourage a positive quality of life and help form lasting friendships and bonds between participants. Additionally, the organization offers its members a variety of discounts on insurance plans and medical care through its group plans with the participating providers. The organization also places a strong emphasis on charitable actions for its local communities, specifically for children and the elderly. Moose chapters regularly hold fundraising events for those in need and participate in other events to spread awareness and good will. Members may participate through a variety of actions. Senior members can also apply to live in its exclusive retirement community, known as Moosehaven, while other members can obtain child care services through its Mooseheart facility.
