Our Mission: To Make Disciples of Jesus
Christ for the Transformation of the World
Our Vision: A Community of Hope
for Every Generation
The Messenger
11 Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another . (1 John 4:11)
ONE ANOTHER Life isn’t easy. We are bound to have struggles. Hardships will come. Things will not go the way we planned. But in the midst of all the pain that can happen in life, God has placed people around us to love, encourage and comfort us. That is the picture of the church. We were meant to be connected to one another as the church - the body of Christ. The body of Christ is made up of individuals. However, often we forget the important role we have as the body of Christ to lift one another up and become stronger. We make each other better as followers of Jesus, when we love and encourage one another. If someone says, “That’s such a loving church,” it is only because that church is made up of loving individuals. Churches can’t love; only people can love. Therefore, love has to be expressed one person at a time. That’s how God loved us, and that is how we are to love others. Jesus commanded us to love one another:
34 I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34-35).
This series is all about how the body of Christ can love and support one another as Jesus has directed us to do. Often we forget the important role we have as the body of Christ to lift one another up in living for Jesus. Jesus commanded his disciples to love one another. Loving one another reveals that we know God and belong to him, that we are manifesting His life and love as we live the world. God loved us when there was absolutely nothing lovable about us. Let us be a loving, encouraging church in fulfilling the mission of Christ.
11Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another (1 John 4:11). In Christ’s Love, Pastor Eric Sayonkon

Seniors, G.L.O.R.Y. Group wants YOU!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you ever wondered what the G.L.O.R.Y. Group is all about? This senior group is composed of all “seasoned” citizens (mostly retired) and members of the St. James family. They began in April 1955 and if you ever wondered what the letters stand for, check out the side bar on the right.
G.L.O.R.Y. Group meets every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. here at St. James, for sharing, discussion and just plain fun. Occasionally outside activities are planned for those available but mostly it’s just a chance to get together and encourage one another. You are encouraged to join us any Thursday at 9:30 a.m. whenever you are able. Just remember, the main reason we meet is for Christian Fellowship and enjoying one another! See You There!
Even our tears are silent prayers
when we seek comfort in
God’s loving arms.
Text Prayer Group St. James has a text prayer group ministry. If you’d like to join the text prayer group please let the church office know (712-276-

in preparation for Christmas. Expectant. Dangerous. Jealous. Faithful. These are the themes used in the Old Testament to describe the layers of God’s character, but then Jesus—God under wraps—took on human flesh and came to live among us to reveal to us what God is really like. Under Wraps will show us what we can find when we open the true gift of Christmas.
