Teaching, Preaching and Reaching!

Dear Friends,

We can’t wait for Christmas! No, not so much for thepresents, but for a few days of rest!

December has continued the marathon that started in Julywhen we moved back to Bogota. As we speak I am workingon our program Celebrate Christmas and today Patty started

teaching a 3 week Vacation School of Reading.

A lot of kids in Colombia get behind in their reading skillsand with classes of 40+ kids, those with learning disabilitiesare even worse off. So, for the next 3 weeks, thirty childrenfrom the Light of the World Foundation in Suba, Colombia

will be receiving teaching to strengthen their learning. At

the end, they will receive a certificate and a Christmasgift that will include a book of their own to read!

Reaching

Thanks to the generosity of the Men’s Ministry at PickeringPentecostal Church, we were able to purchase Bibles andNew Testaments for distribution in Colombian Jails.

Imagine our surprise when we found out that the BibleSociety here now has New Testaments available for only$1.60 each. Instead of the planned purchase of 200, we wereinstead able to purchase 448 copies for distribution!!!

With this gift the Villeta Christian Crusade Church has givenout more than 1000 Bibles in Colombian prisons this year.

In Colombia the Christmas season ends onJan 12th. That is the day that Colombians

celebrate the 3 Wise Men that visited Jesus.

Community & Medical Outreaches

Since Sept, we have held two outreaches around Bogota.They involved dozens of volunteers and thousands of peoplewere impacted. We were even able to help a group from aColombian indigenous community that had left their remoteland near the Peruvian border because of violence.

Seeing the Guambianos with their colourful native dress inthe suburbs of Bogota was quite the paradox!

Family News

On Nov 5th Darien turned 9 yearsold. He is at that wonderful (andscary) age where you start to seethe first signs of him reallygrowing up, yet he continues to bethe family cuddle bunny.

James & Darien have recentlystarted helping us put togetherministry videos under the coveringof “James McCrea Studios.” Their first Sunday school videowas a hit in churches and we are now working on the 2ndedition.

Patty ACED her Canadian Citizenship test in October! Now, she only needs to take the Oath of Citizenship in thenew year and she will be able to receive her CanadianPassport. We are thrilled that the era of travel visas iscoming to an end!

Taking a leap of faith, (and a smallloan) we have purchased our firstcar in Colombia!
