The Magic Pencil Adapted by Harvey D´Souza Narrator 1: One day the teacher asked Eva to write a short story. Narrator 2: Eva thought for a long time but did not know how to begin. Narrator 3: Finally, when she was about to give up, she heard a little voice. It was a goblin. Goblin: Eva, Eva! Narrator 1: Eva looked, but couldn`t see anybody. Narrator 2:Then she heard the same little voice again. Goblin: Eva, Eva! Look down here, under the table! Narrator 3: Eva was shocked to see a little goblin under the table. Narrator 1:It was dressed in green, with a little hat and black shoes. Eva: Who are you? Where did you come from? Goblin: Don´t be afraid. My name is Sparkle. I want to help you. What´s wrong? Eva: I have to write a short story, but I don´t know what to write about. Goblin: (thinking for a while, then he takes out a pencil and gives it to Eva) Take this magic pencil. With my pencil you can write whatever you want. Narrator 2: Eva couldn´t believe her ears.

The Magic PencilAdapted by Harvey DSouzaNarrator 1: One day the teacher asked Eva to write a short story. Narrator 2: Eva thought for a long time but did not know how to begin. Narrator 3: Finally, when she was about to give up, she heard a little voice. It was a goblin.Goblin: Eva, Eva!Narrator 1: Eva looked, but couldn`t see anybody. Narrator 2:Then she heard the same little voice again.Goblin: Eva, Eva! Look down here, under the table!Narrator 3: Eva was shocked to see a little goblin under the table. Narrator 1:It was dressed in green, with a little hat and black shoes.Eva: Who are you? Where did you come from?Goblin: Dont be afraid. My name is Sparkle. I want to help you. Whats wrong?Eva: I have to write a short story, but I dont know what to write about.Goblin: (thinking for a while, then he takes out a pencil and gives it to Eva) Take this magic pencil. With my pencil you can write whatever you want.Narrator 2: Eva couldnt believe her ears. Eva: But how is this possible?Goblin: All you have to do is ask the pencil to help you.Narrator 3: Then the goblin disappeared. Narrator 1: Eva took the pencil in her hand and asked for an adventure short story.Eva: Dear pencil, I want the story to take place in the jungle, while I am in a boat in the river.Narrator 2: Eva placed the pencil over her notebook and she started to write until she finished the story. Narrator 3: The next day Eva read the story in class.Teacher: Wow! Your story was fantastic! You have to write another story for us.Eva: I will try!Narrator1: And she did. Eva: Dear pencil, I want the story to take place in a desert. Teacher: Wow, another fantastic story! Well done, Eva! Keep writing.Eva: Thank you, teacher.Narrator 2: And she did. Narrator 3:The pencil and Eva wrote funny and exciting stories. Narrator 3:One day as she was writing, she heard a familiar voice.Goblin: Hi, Eva! Have you written many stories?Eva: Yes, and everybody liked them.Goblin: Good! I am glad that you are not having any trouble writing stories. I think that you can now give me my pencil back.Eva: The magic pencil? But I need it!Goblin: I don`t think so. The pencil lost its magic after your first story. After that, all the stories you wrote were from your own imagination. The pencil only wrote what you were thinking.Eva (realising the goblin is right): You`re right! I can write all the stories I want. And I can write them all by myself.Narrator 1: The goblin took the magic pencil and disappeared, and was never seen again. Eva: I am not worried about having to write a story anymore. Now I know that I can write whatever I want to. THE END
