Derek Parker, Customer Service Manager recently rode his bike to work. That’s a whole lot of “ride.” That is riding to extremes – 46 miles of extreme. Derek is a competitive marathon mountain cyclist. When not at the office, Derek is on the bike. Luck- ily, his wife Linda and his boys JaCory, age 15 and Quintin, age 7 share the passion for the ride, too! And lucky for us, Derek also has a passion for research. Although he began his career over 20 years ago, first as a runner and working a recording desk, Derek has now found his niche in property research and customer service. He likes to refer to himself as a “research freak.” For Derek, it is the thrill of the hunt (of course it is). Give him searches, raw land, LLC’s, vestings, CC&Rs – he actually loves this stuff! Oh, and did we mention, Derek and his outstanding department are also busy producing seller/buyer guides, postcards, listing kits, and all kinds of great stuff – all available at www.magnustitle.com under the documents tab. Your clients can access all these great tools at anytime from the website and they are all downloadable. Derek and his team have some newly released materials including: a short sale guide, a marketing materials guide and soon to be released, a foreign investors guide. You’ve learned some of how Derek is doing his best to “go green.” Let’s do the same and send our clients to these great links on our website and help them utilize these materials and in the process – save a tree! I t’s all about the bike. Derek Parker, Customer Service Manager recently rode his bike to work. There is nothing unusual about this if you live in most large and small cities, particularly to those those who are making efforts to “go green.” However many of you may not be aware, while Derek lives near 99th Avenue/Bell Road, he works in our Ahwatukee branch. That’s a whole lot of “ride.” That is riding to extremes – 46 miles of extreme.

Derek is a competitive marathon mountain cyclist. When not at the office, Derek is on the bike. Luck-ily, his wife Linda and his boys JaCory, age 15 and Quintin, age 7 share the passion for the ride, too!

And lucky for us, Derek also has a passion for research. Although he began his career over 20 years ago, first as a runner and working a recording desk, Derek has now found his niche

in property research and customer service.

Derek and his team have some newly released materials including: a short sale guide, a

marketing materials guide and soon to be released, a foreign investors guide.

You’ve learned some of how Derek is doing his best to “go green.” Let’s do the same and send our clients to these great links on our website and help them utilize these materials and in the process – save a tree!

The science of how a spinning object curves is nothing new. It's called the Magnus effect because it was first discovered in the mid-1800s by Heinrich Magnus, a German physicist who was studying the trajectory of cannonballs.

The Magnus effect is just what happened when soccer superstar David Beckham kicked for a goal on Oct. 6, 2001. His team needed to at least tie Greece to qualify outright for the 2002 World Cup. Late in the game, England was losing 2-1 when one of their players was fouled just outside the Greek penalty area.

With four Greek players forming a human wall in front of their goal tender, Beckham ran up to the ball, planted his left foot and fired a kick with his right foot that appeared to head directly for the head of the defender on the left side of the wall. Just as the defender jumped to head the ball away, the ball rose and curved to the left as it passed the wall, before dipping back down as it traveled just inside the top left corner of the net, leaving the Greek goalkeeper stunned. The Magnus effect left the crowd stunned.
