Minneapolis is the unlikely setting for Davidson’s “Undead” series. She weaves vampires, werewolves, and mermaids into hilarious plots. She has written other books that are also very funny. Davidson is a prolific writer whose sole purpose is to make you laugh. Even her “author’s notes” are a great read. Try one and you’ll be hooked.

Friends of the Demmer Library News & Views
by Secretary Deidre Mueller
July was a busy month! The July 4th Book Sale went well, we sold a lot of inventory to make room for more. The Library Foundation put together a great float for the parade and took 2nd place. The Demmer Library Board presented the plans for the library renovation to the public on July 10th. It’s going to be a wonderful “new” library. Please donate to the building fund. No amount is too small.
Pat Dumke hosted a hot dog and chips “supper” to spread the word about our organization on July 24th. Come join us for the August 5th Friends’ meeting (at 12:30 p.m. in the library lower level) to vote for new officers. Our next book sale will be August 24th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. For
more information please call Sarah Ewing at 715-546-8124.

Wednesday, August 14th, 2013
6:30 p.m.
Three Lakes Center for the Arts The film screening will be followed by a question and answer session with the authors of Bottoms Up, with books available for autograph and purchase. Free admission with concessions available for purchase.
“Bottoms Up” showcases the rich architecture and history of Wisconsin breweries and bars. This documentary produced by Wisconsin Public Television explores the rise of breweries, the effects of temperance and Prohibition, and attitudes about gender, ethnicity, and morality. It traces the development of megabreweries, dominance of the giants, and the emergence of microbreweries in Wisconsin. “Bottoms Up” is a companion documentary to the Wisconsin Historical Society Press book of the same name.
The screening event is a collaboration of WPT and the Wisconsin Library Association’s Reel to Real project. Reel to Real seeks to engage the community by providing access to thought provoking screenings and discussion topics.
