The Last Time in Balneário Camboriú

1. Southern Brazil and cycling sports

Sports in Brazil have achieved great status, as this country loves soccer and also volleyball and now cycling has conquered its own space among sporting circuits.Brazil has great places for practicing many different cycling disciplines, especially in the southern part of the country, where strong cultural influences have been inherited from Europe; which has exported its culture and traditions to also help develop new talents. There are a great number of important cycling events in Santa Catarina State: The Santa Catarina class 2.2 UCI Tour, Santa Catarina State Mountain Bike Tour, and all the other UCI calendar events. In 2005 and 2006, we were privileged to host the UCI MOUNTAIN BIKE WORLD CUP editions, for the first time in Latin America, and the PAN AMERICAN MOUNTAIN BIKE CHAMPIONSHIP in 2006.In 2010 and 2011 the World Championship editions were a great success and were recognized by Pat McQuaid the President of the UCI. These events have brought about a great repercussion internationally, as new investments were awarded to this region and have helped to create new talents and so more people can practice this sport. We wish to show other countries that Brazil is not just famous for soccer, but also as a place where a great variety of other sports can be enjoyed and flourish. 2. Direction
