The Holocaust• This is the name given to the mass slaughter of

Jews by the Nazi’s during WWII.• The Nazi’s killed (1)6 million Jews.• Hitler lays out his plan for the Holocaust in his

book Mein Kampf. • (2)Shoah= Jewish word for Catastrophe • (3)Killed all who opposed them

The Nuremberg Laws• These laws were set up by the Nazi’s. • A few examples of the laws:

(4)Jews could not be citizens. Jews could not marry someone non- Jewish.

Jewish passports were marked with a red “J.”

• The night of broken glass or “Kristallnacht” is when (6& 7)Nazi’s went into Jewish homes and destroyed them.

• The (8)secret police force called the Gestapo arrested 30,000 wealthy Jews.

Nazi Camps• These were established to house the Jews and

political prisoners.• Buchenwald was the largest Concentration

Camp. It did not have gas chambers but many people died there from exhaustion and horrible living conditions. This was a (13)work camp.
