The Great Barrier Reef in Australia

The Great Barrier Reef is situated in the Coral Sea, near Queensland, in the north - east of Australia.

It is the biggest reef system in the world; it has 3000 reefs and 300 islands, which has a length of 2 600 km and covers an area of 344 400 km2.

The Great Barrier Reef offers a great sight: it has many colorful corals and over 10 000 unique marine species, like: crustaceans, mollusks, turtles and dolphins.

The reef life is seasonal: October, November and December are the months with the active underwater life and from this reason yesterday, we dive to observe the underwater life.

It has magnificent mineral gardens, populated by strange creatures with amazing colors and shapes; the struggle for food and space is intense and continuous.

This place gathers its surface gorgeous colors as: azure, indigo, sapphire and purest white, visible even from the Moon.

Tomorrow we are going in a cruise to observe this beautiful sight; the departure place will be Port Douglas.
