Our marathon summer at SWITCH has begun and we are looking down the barrel at several busy weeks ahead! If you’re like most families, your household is busy with activities no matter what time of year it is and it is so easy to get overwhelmed. Some of you may be thinking that summer was supposed to be full of hammocks, lemonade, and a good book, but unfortunately the reality of life woke you from that dream! Busy-ness isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it can lead you to miss out on God’s plan. I had a mentor tell me one time that we must learn to say no to some good things so we can have time for the best things. As July approaches, take time to stop. Breathe. Listen. Evaluate. Let Go. Trust. Pray. Scripture reminds us in Psalm 46:10 to “be still and know that I am God.” Maybe you’ve not taken the opportunity to rest in His presence and allow His power to overcome your anxieties. As we push the pause button on our lives, we’re able to gain perspective, hear from God, and see the value of saying no to lower things so we can say yes to the highest things. Speaking of the best things…our office made a decision regarding our Middle School Mission Trip to Frayser at the end of July. We’ve modified this trip to make it best meet our needs and the needs of our families. We’ll be doing our first ever M.S.R.A.O.K. Week (Middle School Random Acts of Kindness Week) July 28-31 (Wednesday –Saturday) from 9AM-Noon each day. The cost is free and the schedule is very flexible. Your child will learn service, humility, and compassion by performing acts of kindness, such as passing out popsicles and Powerade to local high school football and marching bands, working in a local food pantry, baking and distributing cookies to local businesses, etc. On Friday, the 30th, we’ll have a Sleep Over at the church beginning at 8pm and lasting until Saturday at noon! We’re excited about this change and can’t wait to see your middle schooler involved in ministry during MSRAOK. The deadline to sign up is July 18 and your child may register at www.switchmemphis.com. By His Grace, Jason P.S. Some of you are receiving the FLIP for the first time because you have an incoming 7th grader in the fall. Please read through our upcoming events and make sure you attend our parent meeting for incoming 7th graders on August 1st!

have Connect Groups at 9am and participate in worship
during the 10:30am service.
Student Camp Celebration: July 18 @ 5PM
As part of our Super Summer Sunday Nites, we’ll be

Culture CluesCulture CluesCulture CluesCulture Clues Summer a Risky Time for Teenage Drivers
Did you know that automobile crashes are the number one cause of
death for teenagers in the USA? Or that the most lethal period for
teenage drivers is between Memorial Day and Labor Day? Below are
some things to discuss with your teen to keep them safe on the roads
this summer.
• Risk taking: A crash can happen to you. And it's not just about you;
crashes affect other people.
• Unbuckled belts: Wearing a seat belt reduces your chances of being
hurt or killed in a crash by 45%.
• Speeding: One-third of teen fatalities involve speeding.
• Rowdy passengers: Adding one teen passenger to a vehicle increases
a young driver's crash risk by about 50%. With two or more teen pas-
sengers, the crash risk increases fivefold.
• Cell Phones: Focus on driving. Save the phone calls, text messaging
and other gadgets for after the driving is done.
• CD players: Research shows that adjusting the radio is the most com-
mon distraction for drivers 16 to 20.
• Nighttime cruising: Teen crash rates at night (9 p.m.- 6 a.m.) are
twice as high as daytime rates.
• Overconfidence: New situations, combined with inexperience and
overconfidence, result in crashes too often with young drivers.
