We Gather in Love
The Introit Once in Royal David’s City Hymnal No. 49 The soloist will sing stanza 1, please join on stanza 2. Please stand for The Call to Worship
Rejoice in God! Marvel at all that God has done! Our eyes have seen the glory of God, make known to us. Rejoice in God, Creator of all that has life. Our eyes have seen the love of God, come to us in a baby. Rejoice in God, giver of redemption and grace. Our eyes have seen God’s redeeming love, alive in Jesus. Rejoice in God, the Spirit of peace and grace. Our eyes have seen the power of God, at work in changing the world. Let us worship God together!
Please remain standing for The Hymn of Praise Glory to God, No. 136 Go, Tell It On the Mountain! (Go Tell It) You may be seated. The Prayer of the Day The Gloria Patri Glory to God, No. 581
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. World without end, Amen, amen.
The Prayer of Confession
God, our Loving Creator, you call us to celebrate in fullness the salvation you have brought to us in Jesus, your Son. You remind us through the witness of Simeon and Anna that Jesus is our light and shows us your glory. Yet we hear this story as ancient, and do not make it our own. O God, forgive us. Place your Son in our arms and show us our salvation. Join our voices with those of Simeon and Anna, that we may sing your praise to all who will hear and be bearers of your good news. Amen.
A Time of Silent Confession The Assurance of Forgiveness
Even in the times of deepest darkness, God is there offering empowering light. Search for glimpses of light amidst the gloom; seek the teachings of Jesus, which will light your way in the world; We will trust God, and celebrate that we are made in God’s image this day and forevermore. Amen.

Little Star of Bethlehem, do we see Thee now? Do we see Thee shining o’er the tall trees?
Little Child of Bethlehem, do we hear Thee in our hearts? Hear the angels singing: “peace on earth, goof will toward men! Noel!
O’er the cradle of a King, hear the angels sing “in excelsis Gloria!”
From His Father’s home on high, lo, for us He came to die; Hear the angels sing: “venite adoremus Dominum!”

“Love Has Come”
The melody of today’s Response of Praise is likely familiar to you as “Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella.”
The lively melody is thought to have originated in the
Provençal region of France, possibly as early as the 14th
century. It has been well-known as a dance tune
since that time.
There is no doubt what the theme of the text is. The
keyword, “love” appears no less than twenty-two times!
Other fragments of scrip-ture make up the text, writ-
ten by Ken Bible (b.1950)
“Love Has Come” is one of many wonderful new
hymns in the “Glory to God” Hymnal.
The Angel Gladys proclaims: “Hey! Unto you a Child is born!”

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this
day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we
forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temp-tation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the king-dom, and the power, and
the glory forever. Ame
