The Dental Hygiene Process of Care: Is Your Practice on Track? Whether you are looking for a refresher course or simply wish to elevate your knowledge, this half-day session is for you! The Dental Hygiene Process of Care (DHPC) is the structural framework upon which client-specific treatment planning in all dental hygiene practices should be based. A dental hygienist’s documentation must incorporate assessment, dental hygiene diagnosis, a dental hygiene care plan, the recording of interventions as well as the required process for evaluation. This course will highlight the most common administrative deficiencies found during an onsite review, and will discuss the documentation required to meet DHPC standards. Participants will have an opportunity to self-assess their dental hygiene practice throughout each phase of the DHPC and will be given a documentation template providing a systematic approach to record-keeping requirements in clinical practice. The 2012 Standards of Practice will provide the framework essential for ensuring quality in dental hygiene practice. The ultimate goal is for participants to increase their knowledge, resulting in a renewed confidence to incorporate the DHPC into clinical practice.
