Meets Messer Torello upon his arrival.

Has no idea that Saladin is a prince

Treats Saladin with utmost respect and high honor

Messer Meet Saladin Again

Messer is indeed captured He is imprisoned He is assigned to Hawk Training, which he is

naturally talented

Saladin takes notice of him and makes Messer his Falconer

Saladin recognizes Messer

Saladin recognizes Messer when he elicits a smile. Saladin is not sure it is Messer, so he tests

him Messer eventually passes the test Saladin is excited to have found the man that

was so kind to him

Messer’s Discovery

Messer finds that another man by the name of Messer Torello has died, however those in his homeland believe it to be “the” Messer Messer then finds that his wife is scheduled to

remarry Messer then succumbs to great illness,

having given up hope

Saladin Repays Kindness

Saladin seeing the man that was so kind fall ill promise to get him back to his wife

Saladin arranges for magic transportation of Messer back to Pavia

Messer Torello Returns

Messer is tranported back home in time for the wedding

He then has his wife brought to him without being told who he is

He slips her ring into her drink, as she realizes who it is she is rejoiced

The Meaning Of It All

Messer feels none of this would have been possible without Saladin

However, had Messer not been so kind to Saladin he would have not been in a position to receive Saladin’s kindness
