INT SOMEWHERE ELSE UNDERGROUND

NARRATOR (V.O.)Somewhere else.

A green clad fist strikes the side of a metal container underground. KRANG. It retreats from view and then slams into the wall two, three times.

EXT SOMEWHERE ELSE UNDERGROUND

KRANG the fist hits again and the container shudders. Four small bumps have pushed out where the knuckles hit.

NARRATOR (V.O.)Doomsday is coming.


The fist strikes the wall, again three times. The green cloth around the fist begins to tear. There are small, bony protrusions that cut into the wall as the fist continues its assault.

NARRATOR (V.O.)Unrelentingly.

By the third hit in the second round of hits, we can see that the skin under the cloth is grey.


Four small holes appear where the bumps were raised.



The fist begins its third set of punches. By now the wall is bowing outward, showing definite signs of damage.

The bony protrusions have actually grown a little longer, as if adapting to the damage the fist takes while hitting the wall.

NARRATOR (V.O.)Unstoppably.


This time when the fist hits the wall the fourth time, the bony protrusions on the knuckles stick out of the wall for an instant before the fist is pulled back for another onslaught against the underground prison cell.



NARRATOR (V.O.)Unbelievably.

The fist begins its fourth set of punches. The wall has cracked, but not quiet broken.


The fist hits the wall the fourth time. This time the wall explodes out with a loud KRAKOOM.

NARRATOR (V.O.)Doomsday is here.

EXT POWERSTATION – BEFORE DAWN

From outside all is quiet.

KATHANA (O.S.)This power station is ours.

CLAWSTER (O.S.)Keep engineer hypnotized Kathana.

INT POWERSTATION BASEMENT – EARLY MORNING

KATHANA, a creepy looking humanoid beast, stands near the hypnotized ENGINEER.

A vagabond, CHARLIE, seems out of place next to CLAWSTER, a behemoth much like “The Thing,” from the fantastic four; RAMBEAU (a goat like hominid); WARWORLDER, and the underworlders.

KATHANA

I do what you say Clawster. For now you the boss.

CHARLIESo, how do we go about diverting the power to our war machines?

KATHANAYou hear Charlie, man.

Kathana caresses the engineer’s face.

KATHANA So talk. Tell us where is switch so we can steal electricity.

ENGINEER (hypnotized daze)The main control board is over there.

INT SEWERS

KEITH enters the sewers. He turns on his flashlight and flashes it around.

KEITHAwesome.

Keith comes to a fork in the tunnel.

Keith reaches into his backpack and pulls out a can of spray paint. He shakes the can and then sprays an arrow on the wall. He turns off the light and the arrow glows.

KEITHCan’t get lost now.

EXT METROPOLIS – EARLY MORNING

The Daily Planet building with its distinctive globe on top stands out amongst the other sky scrapers of Metropolis. The sun has yet to light the sky.

FRAN (V.O.)Hi Lois. How’re the articles on the confiscated electronics the cops lost?

INT DAILY PLANET

LOIS LANE stands in front of the employee mailboxes. Fran lounges next to the mailboxes to talk to Lois. Lois pulls out a single envelope from her mailbox and walks past Fran to her work station. She opens the letter as she walks and talks.

LOISWell enough. My source in the harbor patrol tells me...What’s this?

The letter reads “Send Superman to the basement under the west side power station. Metropolis is in Danger!” The letter is signed “A Friend”

LOIS (V.O.)Clark isn’t around. Darn sometimes he forgets to check his mail.

INT DAILY PLANET

Lois walks over to Clark’s computer

LOIS (V.O.)Especially when he heads down from the roof.

Lois opens up Clark’s writing program and types out a message.

LOISAnonymous tip says there’s danger in the basement of the West Side power station. Meet me there. Lois. That should do it.

Lois heads for the door.

FRANLois...?

LOISGotta run Fran. Would you tell Clark there’s a message for him on his computer?

EXT DAILY PLANET ROOF – EARLY MORNING

Superman descends from the sky to the roof.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)Scanned the city but didn’t see any underworlders on the surface. Must be lying low for now. Maybe it’s time-

INT DAILY PLANET – EARLY MORNING

SUPERMAN (V.O.)-I got back to work.

CLARK KENT walks through one of the halls of the Daily Planet, adjusting his tie.

Fran sees him as he passes.

FRANHi, Clark. Lois left you a computer message.

CLARK KENTThanks Fran.

Clark sits at his computer and taps the spacebar a few times to clear the screen saver. Just as the screen is clearing the power goes out. He gets a quick glimpse of the screen before it dies.

CLARK KENTWhat now?

PLANET EMPLOYEE 1Don’t tell me we’re having another blackout!?

PLANET EMPLOYEE 2Computers don’t work, lights either.

Clark gets up and heads to the roof, back the way he came.

CLARKJust when I thought I was going to get some work done.

INT POWER STATION BASEMENT

The underworlders celebrate.

CLAWSTERWe did it!

UNDERWORLDER 1We steal Metropolis’s electricity.

UNDERWORLDER 2Now city is helpless.

INT SEWERS

Keith comes to an opening in the sewer wall, a door, that has been ripped off its hinges. The door labeled “Basement Access” rests against the wall opposite the opening. He is about to look through the doorway when he knocks over a can. The KLANKING reverberates in the darkness.

INT POWERSTATION BASEMENT

The Underworlders all freeze when they hear the faint KLANKING of the can.

WARWORLDERClawlster, Charlie. Go see what that was.

EXT POWER STATION – EARLY MORNING

Lois is sneaking into the power station. She cuts the chain link fence and crawls under it.

LOIS (V.0.)Good thing someone invented wire cutters. I’d’ve hated to’ve had to use my teeth.

Lois climbs up a steel tower and crosses to the main station building on a wire like a gibbon would.

LOIS (V.O.)Blackout means the alarms don’t work. That’s the good news.

INT POWER STATION

Lois opens a sky light and drops through onto a cat walk. She lands in a crouch and stays there for a few moments.

LOIS (V.O.)But nobody’s around either, which means they’ve been taken care of.

Lois moves down the cat walk towards an open hatch. Her only “weapon” is a flashlight.

Lois arrives at a hatch, which is larger in diameter than she is tall.

LOIS Access to the basement. Jackpot.

Clawster’s hand snakes out of the darkness behind Lois and grabs her. She instantly jerks down out of the grab and spins with a kick that would hit a normal person in the face.

It hits Clawster’s chest with a dull THUD. Lois falls to the ground clutching her ankle.

LOISAh, my ankle.

CLAWSTERHar har har! Outside and in, through and through, Clawster invulnerable. Who you be anyway?

Charlie steps out of the shadows behind Clawster.

CHARLIEShe’s that reporter lady, Lois Lane.

CLAWSTERYou know her?

CHARLIEShe volunteers at the soup kitchen where I used to eat. She might be useful as a hostage, Claw. Better bring her to the boss.

CLAWSTERYou tease her Charlie. You know boss don’t take prisoners!

Clawster grabs Lois, pinning her hands behind her back, and forces her into a kneeling position. Charlie ties her wrists together.

INT SEWERS

Keith lies on a bunch of pipes that hang from the tunnel’s ceiling. He watches Charlie walk down the tunnel followed by Lois, and Clawster.

CLAWSTERShe be dead before hour is up!

KEITH (V.O.)This isn’t good.

Keith waits until Charlie, Clawster, and Lois have disappeared through the doorway. Then he climbs down and slips away.

Keith runs along, following the arrows that he painted on the walls.

EXT BASKETBALL COURT – EARLY MORNING

Keith exits the sewers and runs to the basketball court.

KEITHThey’re gonna kill her. An’ attack the city. I got to warn Superman.

Keith takes out the can of spray paint and sprays a large shape on the ground.

EXT SKY – EARLY MORNING

Keith is spraying a giant S with a triangle around it on the asphalt. Superman sees it from the air.

He flies down and lands behind Keith.

SUPERMANO.k you got my attention.

KEITHSuperman, it’s you! I knew you’d come!

Keith hugs Superman.

KEITH There’s this reporter lady in the tunnels! Monsters have her-

INT UNDERGROUND

Underworlders are shouting, celebrating. WARWORLDER is piloting a tunneling machine which Clawster hangs on the side of. The other Underworlders parade behid it. Among the other underworlders are TK-TK, KRL’LI, and Rambeau.

KEITH (V.O.)-and they’re gonna invade the city.

WARWORLDERSoon, soon we will carve a subterranean highway through the bedrock.

CLAWSTERThen our war machines roll up through the tunnel an’ Metropolis will be in hands of monsters.

Suddenly the tunneling machine stops moving forward even though it’s still running.

WARWORLDERThe borer! It’s stopped, but why?

The tunneling machine begins moving backwards.

TK-TK(A bunch of gibberish)(Subtitles)It’s shoving back at us out of the hole.

KRL’LIHurf, it Superman.

Superman bends the head of the tunneling machine up, and tilts it, dumping everyone off the machine.

CLAWSTER

Superman!?! Rambeau... Diversion seven.

Rambeau holds up a grenade. Superman shoves the tunneling machine all the way back into the tunnel.

RAMBEAUI..uh..got the grenade Clawster, but where do I put it. What does Superman care what’s destroyed in this...hey.

Superman flies by Rambeau at super speed, grabs the grenade, and heads for Clawster.

CLAWSTERIdiot. He got the grenade.

SUPERMANYou look like you’re a big boy…

All of the sudden Superman is right in front of Clawster.

SUPERMAN -so eat diversion seven.

Superman slams the grenade into Clawster’s mouth. It explodes, with a muffled EXPLOSION. Superman is already turning to deal with other underworlders.

CLAWSTERGood thing Clawster invulnerable.

Clawster’s eyes roll up in his head and he falls unconscious, smoke streaming from his mouth.

TK-TK(gibberish)(subtitled)Superman coming for us. Activate war machines now.

Two flying war machines blast Superman from above. TK-TK pilots one, WARWORLDER 2 pilots the other. A laser hits Superman in the chest, doing nothing to him. Other blasts miss him, but hit the ground tearing it up under his feet. He sinks a bit.

TK-TK

(gibberish)(subtitles)That the way. These war world designs.

WARWORLDER 2Yeah pour it on. Even super creep can’t stand against these weapons.

Another war machine, Flying Pincers, takes flight. Superman sees the flying pincers coming at him. He grabs the pincer and slams it to the ground.

SUPERMANI’m not the guy who’s getting the wrong end of the stick. I’m giving you this chance to do things the easy way and give up.

Superman grabs Tk-tk out of one of the flying war machines. Krl’li Sneaks up behind superman, while Superman pounds Tk-tk.

Krl’li picks up the fallen war machine. Superman slams Tk-tk way.

SUPERMAN I guess the answer is no.

Krl’li slams the war machine down where Superman should be standing. Superman has sidestepped and backhands Krl’li in the stomach, without looking, and knocks the wind out of him.

KRL’LIWhuff hurf

INT UNDERGROUND LEDGE

Warworlder watches superman pummel his forces.

WARWORLDER (V.O.)Krl’li’s unconscious The battle seems to be going against us. Perhaps after all discretion would be the better part of valor!

Superman looks up and sees Warworlder and points at him. Superman is standing on Krl’li.

SUPERMANWhere’s the lady reporter you’re holding captive?

Superman flies at Warworlder. Warworlder turns and runs.

WARWORLDERC..captive. We are warworlders. We don’t take captives.

Superman picks Warworlder up, by the head, with his right hand as he flies past.

SUPERMANWhere is she?

WARWORLDERCharlie took her to the East tunnel. By now she’s dead. What are you going to do?

Superman lands and picks Warworlder up higher to look him in the face. He is still palming his head.

SUPERMANPound you up to your neck into the rock floor and maybe, if you’re wrong, I might just bother to dig you out again.

INT EAST TUNNEL

Lois stands next to Charlie. They hear a CRACKING sound from the wall. Charlie turns to the wall where the sound is coming from as Superman breaks through the wall.

SUPERMANLois! They said you’d be here...

Superman flies through the hole and grabs Charlie’s gun.

SUPERMAN Are you alright?

LOISI’m fine.

Superman grabs Charlie by the front of his shirt, and pulls back his hand to punch Charlie.

LOIS Superman, don’t!

SUPERMANWhat?

Lois kicks Superman in the butt.

LOISDon’t you dare punch out Charlie! He’s the reason we knew about the Warworlders’ schemes.

SUPERMANWe did?

LOISSure, you’re here aren’t you. Well Charlie’s our informant. He’s a hero. He saved Metropolis. Right? He was a pacifist in the sixties and he was in touch with the anti-war segment of the underworld. He decided to stop their war against the surface.

Superman sets Charlie down.

CHARLIEI wrote her a note tellin’ her to warn you, and, well I thought maybe it would help her get a story...Pay her back for all the donuts she bought me this year. I knew she’d get the message through to you.

SUPERMANThe computer... (to Lois)right?

Charlie doesn’t catch the question or Lois’ nod.

CHARLIEHad the hardest time convincin’ ‘em to let me be the one to...supposedly blow her away. Never occurred to me she’d come down here and get herself captured.

SUPERMAN(to Lois)How else would she get the story.

LOIS...is anybody going to untie me?

EXT SOMEWHERE ELSE ABOVE GROUND - EARLY MORNING

The KRANG of Doomsday pounding on the wall spooks a flock of birds. They launch into the air.

A second KRANG followed by the KRAKOOM and a deer bolts. There is a low RUMBLING KRAKKA KRAKA and the ground begins to flex up.

The ground erupts into the sky.

DOOMSDAY stands free. He is tall and stocky, but other than the spikes on his left fist, not a very menacing figure to look at.

Other than his left hand Doomsday’s entire body is covered in a green rubberish suit. Red goggles cover his eyes. His right hand is bound behind his back by futuristic looking metal cables that wrap around his waist, terminating in a capsule encompassing his right hand.

EXT ELSEWHERE – EARLY MORNING

Doomsday stands watching a flight of birds. He holds out his left hand and a bird flutters to it, chirping in its cute little bird way. The bird lands on Doomsday’s palm and gives him a questioning CHEEP.

Doomdsday cocks his head to the side watching the bird. With lightning speed he closes his hand and crushes the bird.

DOOMSDAYHah ha ha haaa!

EXT HABITAT – EARLY MORNING

A Lexcorp Helicopter approaches the huge tree-like structures. A red and blue figure flies next to the helicopter, but it’s not Superman. A red skirt and long blond hair tossed by the wind mean this can only be SUPERGIRL.

EXT HABITAT LANDING PAD – EARLY MORNING

LEX LUTHOR II steps out of the helicopter as Supergirl lands beside it.

LEX LUTHORHon, you know how much I love the way you look in that get up, but this is a business meeting.

SUPERGIRLOops. I’d almost forgot.

Supergirl’s appearance changes. Her clothes morph from her usual attire into dark business skirt and suit top. Her hair pulls up into a tight bun and her eyes are shaded by dark sunglasses. Even her face changes to look older and more business like.

SUPERGIRLHow’s this.

LEX LUTHORIf only I could dress that fast. You look stunning as always.

A door that looks like part of the trunk opens up and JOHNSON walks out onto the helipad.

JOHNSONMr. Luthor. I’m glad you had a safe trip.

LEX LUTHORCouldn’t be safer, Johnson. Thanks to Supergirl.

Johnson looks at Supergirl. Her face and hair changes back to the younger spunkier girl.

SUPERGIRLHi, Johnson. Like my new look?

She morphs back into the business woman.

JOHNSONI would like to thank you for seeing us at such an odd hour.

LEX LUTHORIt’s no problem. Glad we could accommodate you. Why don’t we get the business over with so that we can get home?

Johnson leads the way into Habitat.

INT HABITAT CONFERENCE ROOM

Johnson, RODRIGUES, and WESTFIELD sit across the table from Lex Luthor and Supergirl.

WESTFIELDThank you for agreeing to see us Mr. Luthor.

LEX LUTHORThink nothing of it. So, what brings us here this early morning?

WESTFIELDWe have a proposition for you.

RODRIGUESWe are not asking for money, if that is what you think. Cadmus is very well funded.

LEX LUTHORSomeone not asking for money. Now I’m intrigued.

WESTFIELDWe think we can help you out while helping ourselves out.

As you are well aware, Cadmus is on the cutting edge of technology. If the government knew how cutting edge they might want to impose their own rule on us.

RODRIGUESThat is why we think you can help us. Habitat and its surrounding restricted zone have taken up most of our land. We have no place hidden from prying eyes to test our newest toys. Cadmus is hoping that you would be so kind as to test several of them for us. In return you will have some of the slickest stuff ever created at your fingertips.

WESTFIELDWe have several contracts ready so that you would be able to profit from your own, “Knockoffs” without fear of legal entanglements.

Johnson opens a briefcase and pulls out a large stack of papers. He hands them to Supergirl.

Supergirl reads the first page and then zips through the whole stack at super speed. When she finishes she turns to Lex Luthor and nods. He pulls out a pen.

LEX LUTHOR

When will we be receiving these test products?

WESTFIELDThey are already on the way to Metropolis.

EXT ELSEWHERE – EARLY MORNING

Doomsday stamps towards a forest. Once in the trees he comes to a large tree that stands directly in his way. It is a massive tree more than ten feet in diameter. He doesn’t even stop.

Doomsday punches the tree trunk with his free left hand, and the tree explodes while Doomsday trudges on.

Doomsday moves straight through the forest clearing his own path of destruction.

EXT ELSEWHERE HIGHWAY OVERPASS SYSTEM - MORNING

Doomsday comes out of the trees. Two highways cross here in the forest.

DOOMSDAYHunf.

He grabs one of the supports for the overpass and tears it down.

DOOMSDAY Har!

The overpass collapses and cars come falling down around Doomsday.

DOOMSDAY Ha ha ha ha!

Doomsday continues on through the forest.

EXT ELSEWHERE HIGHWAY - MORNING

A semi-truck drives along the highway.

INT MOON’S SEMI TRUCK

MOON sees Doomsday walk out of the trees onto the highway in front of his truck. Doomsday stares at the truck.

MOONWhat the heck...Hey buddy! Get outta the way!..

EXT ELSEWHERE HIGHWAY - MORNING

Doomsday walks towards the approaching truck.

MOONWaddaya think yer...

Doomsday slams his fist into the front of the truck, and flips the truck. Doomsday isn’t even moved by the impact. Chuck’s semi pulls to a SCREECHING halt a few yards away.

The trailer of Moon’s truck explodes sending shrapnel and flames in all directions. Some of the shrapnel hits Chuck’s trailer causing gas to pour out. Doomsday walks off laughing.

INT CHUCK’S TRUCK

CHUCK grabs his CB radio.

CHUCKState Troopers? Chuck Johnston callin’ State Troopers.

TROOPER (O.S.)I read you Mr. Johnston. What is it?

CHUCKBig monster flipped someone’s rig... One hand tied behind his back. It’s burning fit to pop.

TROOPER (O.S.)Did you say monster?

INT JLA HEADQUARTERS - MORNING

BLUE BEETLE is in his lab, listening to the CB communication between Chuck and the trooper.

CHUCK (O.S.)Yeah.. Big as a house.

BLUE BEETLEHello... What have we here?

CHUCK (O.S.)The dudes tearing up the whole interstate. He’s heading east. Please, you’ve got to stop him.

BLUE BEETLESounds like a job for the Justice League.

Blue Beetle hits a button on the wall.

BLUE BEETLEJustice League suit up. We got some work to do.

EXT INTERSTATE – MORNING

Chuck jumps out of his rig and opens the door to Moon’s. Moon is unconscious and bleeding.

Chuck undoes Moon’s seatbelt.

A large jet lands like a harrier. MAXIMA and GUY GARDENER fly next to the jet.

The gas from Chuck’s truck is getting awfully close to the flames from Moon’s.

Blue Beetle, BOOSTER, ICE, FIRE, and BLOODWYND pour out of the jet.

Booster darts in beside Chuck and they haul Moon out.

BLUE BEETLEIt’s gonna blow!

Booster throws up a force field around himself and the two truck drivers.

The flames ignite the gas fumes and race back to Chuck’s truck. It explodes in a massive fireball.

BLUE BEETLE

Quick Maxima. Get them out of that inferno before it eats through his force field.

Maxima points her hand at Booster and lifts. The two truckers and Booster rise into the air and out of the fire. She sets them down away from the burning truck.

GUY GARDENER flies above the fire, using his ring to create a large fire extinguisher. He uses it to start snuffing the center of the fire.

Two state trooper vehicles arrive. The troopers get out of their vehicles and watch.

BLUE BEETLEFire, can you redirect this heat to help kill the flames?

FIREI’ve never done this much before, but I can try.

GUY GARDENERI’ll have this little campfire snuffed out sooner than you can say wienie roast.

Ice forms large masses of ice amidst the flames.

The Justice League extinguishes the fire.

TROOPER 2We sure appreciate the help Justice Leaguers. I’m well aware that Ohio is out of your normal area of jurisdiction.

BOOSTERJurisdiction doesn’t matter when people need help.

ICEWhat caused this?

TROOPER 2

We’ve had rumors of a monster-man running loose.

CHUCKIt was him. He smashed that rig.

The sun begins to rise.

BLOODWYNDWe must find the beast.

ICE (off Chuck and Moon)What about them?

TROOPER 2An ambulance is on the way.

BLUE BEETLEThey’ll be all right. Everybody in the jet so we can talk as we search.

GUY GARDENER (sarcastic)Sir, yes, sir.

Everyone gets in the jet and it takes off.

INT JET

ICEGosh, it’s too bad we have this emergency! I really wanted to see today’s episode,

INT ROOSEVELT HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM

The auditorium is full of children in the stands, and made up like a TV studio. CAT GRANT walks out in front of the curtains on stage.

ICE (V.O.)of the Cat Grant show.

CAT GRANTWe’re coming to you live from Roosevelt High with an incredible show! He is perhaps the most

celebrated man of our time. He’s been called the Man of Tomorrow, the Last Son of Krypton, and the Man of Steel! But he’s most appropriately known as (beat)Superman!

When Cat yells Superman, Superman pulls open the curtains and the kids in the auditorium go wild.

EXT ELSEWHERE SKY - DAY

The jet cruises low in the sky.

INT JET

Blue Beetle pilots. Booster watches the radar, while the other members of the Justice league lounge around.

BLUE BEETLEKeep your eyes on the ground people. The sooner we spot our monster the better.

BOOSTERHey, Beetle, if it’s really a cool monster maybe we should capture it and take it on the talk show circuit for big bucks.

BLOODWYNDYour sense of the appropriate knows no limits, Booster.

BLUE BEETLEIt took you this long to realize that Bloodwynd? Uh oh, it looks like we’ve found our man’s trail of crumbs.

EXT SKY - MORNING

There is a path of broken trees hewn through the forest. The jet changes course to follow it.

INT JET - MORNING

BLUE BEETLE

Check out that path of destruction.

BOOSTER Those trees weren’t mowed down by a couple of kids on skateboards.

ICEThis is terrible, such pointless destruction.

GUY GARDENERLet’s just find the sucker and get this over with.

EXT FOREST FLOOR - MORNING

A twig lies on the ground.

Doomsday’s foot stomps on the twig.

EXT FOREST - MORNING

A huge tree, one that took hundreds of years to grow dominates the forest. Doomsday is blocked from view by the tree, but his TROMPING resounds through the forest, and then SILENCE.

The tree explodes and showers the area with wood chips as Doomsday’s fist slams through the tree. Doomsday stands there as the tree crashes down around him.

SILENCE returns and Doomsday stands there like a statue. A deer walks into view and stares at Doomsday. Doomsday stares back, slowly lifting his free left hand, palm up, to the deer.

Slowly the deer walks up and sniffs Doomsday’s palm.

INT ROOSEVELT HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM - MORNING

Cat and Superman take the seats that are on the stage.

CAT GRANTI can’t thank you enough for joining us here Superman. Interviews with you are a true rarity.

SUPERMAN

I've always felt that if Americans are to trust the Justice League, they have to know us, Ms. Grant.

CAT GRANTAgreed. Some of your colleagues like Booster Gold, Guy Gardener, and Wonder Woman, have lead very public lives! But we don’t know nearly as much about you. As leader of the JLA, perhaps you can give us the inside story on you and your pals.

SUPERMANLet me correct you on that point, Ms. Grant. It’s unfair to the others to paint me as the leader of the Justice League. We’re a group of people who have gotten together to do a job only we can do. Everybody in the group has a say on issues and a vote as well.


Doomsday grabs the deer by the neck. He lifts it, snaps its neck, and laughs. His laughter is cut short when he catches sight of the jet in the air.

Doomsday drops the deer, grabs a large branch off the fallen tree, and hurls it like a missile at the jet.


Several monitors show the interview as it is taking place. On monitor one there is a close up of Cat. On monitor two, a close up of Superman.

CAT GRANTSurely you’ve been a greater influence than that. Respected observers suggest you’ve provided a quality of strength and focus the league previously lacked.

The branch tears through the jet exploding out the top and sending people tumbling into the air.

Blue Beetle struggles to hang onto the controls.

BLUE BEETLEOur hydraulics are shredded, we’re going down!

Beetle jumps free of the wreckage and anyone else who was still in their seats does as well. The wreckage falls towards the highway as do the members of the Justice League. The ones that can fly gain control of their fall.

GUY GARDENERI’m going to find the guy that whacked us and sew his eyelids shut!

SUPERMANThe Flash didn’t get in trouble, if that’s what you think. There isn’t any term of service in the Justice League. It is always changing. Both The Flash and Batman were members. Still are, just not actively. When new members step up it gives the veteran members a chance to take some time off for themselves.

A Koula Beer truck cruises along.

Doomsday smashes the guard rail and steps out onto the highway. The Koula Beer truck is on a collision course with Doomsday. Doomsday turns to the truck.

The truck driver is scared.

Doomsday begins to HUM which turns into a LAUGH, as he punches the truck, sending it flying back into other cars as a twisted mass of metal.


Cat listens to Superman.

SUPERMANWe Justice Leaguers have a variety of interests, just as you and your friends do. Blue Beetle is an inventor who enjoys spending his free time in the lab.

CAT GRANTI have a note here that says that is how he got the nick name, “Blue Beetle.” An experiment gone wrong?

SUPERMANI wasn’t there at the time, so I can’t comment.

SUPERMANBooster spends time at the beach, Ice likes to travel, Maxima is busy adjusting to earth life while Guy Gardener tends to be a little more creative in his free time.


The Justice League have all gotten to the ground when there is a large EXPLOSION and a large plume of fire rises above the trees from the highway.

BLUE BEETLEAn explosion beyond that grove of trees. I think there’s a Lexoil refinery over there.

Doomsday reaches over his shoulder with super speed and grabs Guy Gardener.

Doomsday slams Guy face first into the cement and laughs. Guy Gardener is surrounded by a green glow from his ring. Doomsday stomps on the back of his head, driving it further into the ground. The glow weakens. Doomsday then punches Guy’s head further down.

INT CLASSROOM - MORNING

The class is watching Superman’s interview on TV. MITCH and his FRIEND whisper in the back.

TEACHERThis interview is taking place for the benefit of high schools nation wide. I want you kids to pay attention.

Mitch and his friend ignore the teacher.

FRIENDIf you ask me it’ a yawner Mitch.

MITCHNo kiddin’. They should have talked to Guy Gardener


Doomsday pulls Guy out of the ground. He palms Guy Gadener’s face, picks him up, and laughs. The green glow is all but gone.

MITCH (V.O.)If they wanted to talk to someone with their head screwed on straight.

GUY GARDENER (V.O.)Can’t… breath…Can’t…even… think.

FIRE (O.C.)Let go of him you monster!

Suddenly green flame erupts around Doomsday. He is surprised enough to drop Guy.

Fire flies above Doomsday bombarding him with flame.

Guy Gardener lies at Doomsday’s feet, bleeding and barely breathing.

FIRE (V.O.)That freakin’ things powerful. Look what it did to Guy.


Still the interview continues. Cat picks a new student, SPUD to ask a question.

SPUDYeah, I was wonderin’ about fire. Does she score as high on the babe-o-meter as it seems?

OTHER STUDENTYuk, nice question spud.

SUPERMANFire is good at her job and a terrific person. Next question.


Fire is landing behind Doomsday still torching him. Bloodwynd lands in front of Doomsday.

FIREI can’t believe it. No matter how much I throw at this goon it doesn’t faze him.

BLOODWYND

Then I will deal with him.

Doomsday ignores fire and walks towards Bloodwynd.

Bloodwynd hits Doomsday with a powerful punch, lunging into it to put his whole body behind it.

It doesn’t even budge Doomsday.

Doomsday stares, unfazed, at Bloodwynd.

BLOODWYND Gods, what manner of creature can withstand such a blow.


Cat picks a GIRL to ask a question.

GIRLI was, wonderin’, Superman, if there’s anything that y’know frightens you? I mean I’d get scared facin’ all that stuff if I was you.


Doomsday punches Bloodwynd, sending him through the fence into the Lexoil refinery. Bloodwynd crashes through the fence and into a large oil holding tank causing it to explode as he goes through the far side.

Booster, Maxima, and the other Justice League members are arriving. Maxima is levitating Blue Beetle. The others fly.

BOOSTERDid you see that punch?

MAXIMAWhere could a being so powerful have come from?

BLUE BEETLECan Bloodwynd have survived something like that?


The monitor of Cat Grant switches to a close up of the girl that just asked Superman about fear. The other stays on a close up of Superman.

SUPERMANGood question miss. See one way or another fear is always part of the job. I’m afraid of failure and afraid of hurting innocent people, and to be candid, yes, I’ve even been afraid for myself. You never know what might kill you.


Doomsday picks up a rock.

DOOMSDAYHeh!

Without looking back Doomsday throws the rock behind himself, nailing Fire in the head. She falls to the ground holding her head.

BLUE BEETLEYou guys take care of the steroid case. I’ll get Bloodwynd out of that inferno.

Maxima lets Blue Beetle drop to the ground as she and Booster land on opposite sides of Doomsday.

INT THE INFERNO

Blue Beetle searches through the flaming rubble.


GIRLWhat about all that, y’know hitting and violence? Don’t you get tired of it? I mean isn’t there a better way to work things out than caving in someone’s head.

EXT THE INFERNO

Blue Beetle hauls Bloodwynd out of the fire… right next to Doomsday. Bloodwynd stirs.

DOOMSDAYHeh.

Doomsday grabs Blue beetle by the throat and pulls Beetle face to face with himself.

DOOMSDAY Ah.

Doomsday slams Blue Beetle head first into a wall, down into a pipe, and finally head first into another oil holding tank.

BLUE BEETLESomeone…help…meeee…


Both of the monitors are on Superman now.

SUPERMANBelieve me when I say I wish that violence wasn’t necessary, but violence is the price we pay to accomplish a greater good. As heroes we choose to protect that good,

Bloodwynd and Maxima fly at Doomsday. Doomsday grabs Beetle by the hair and stands holding him laughing.

Doomsday throws Beetle straight up into the air. Bloodwynd changes course and goes after Beetle.

Doomsday grabs Bloodwynd’s ankle.

Doomsday swings Bloodwynd into Maxima and lets go, throwing them into another oil holding tank. The tank bends and the top explodes.


The DIRECTOR runs onto the set.

DIRECTORCut! We’ve just been preempted by a network special report! Sounds like trouble in Ohio.

Superman gets up.

EXT LEXOIL REFINERY AIR - MORNING

Blue Beetle’s body continues to the top of its flight. It peaks and then falls.

EXT LEXOIL REFINERY

Beetle hits the ground close to Ice and Booster, and lies still. Doomsday looks at the body.

ICETed! Oh no! He’s so still, so quiet.

BOOSTEROh my god. We need to get him to a hospital, quick.

ICEI think it may be too late Booster. But I pray I’m wrong.


Superman heads towards the doors. A TV REPORTER on one of the monitors holds the directors attention.

TV REPORTERHave reports of the Justice League battling a heinous monster at a Lexoil refinery in Ohio. Reports indicate the league is unable to stop his destructive stampede.

CAT GRANTSuperman?

SUPERMANI have to go.

EXT SKY - MORNING

Superman soars towards Ohio.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)How could one man stand against the whole league? Soon as I’m up over the horizon I’ll be able to see what’s going on.


Booster gets pissed off.

BOOSTERNoooo!

Booster turns to Doomsday, energy already starting to flow out of his suits wrist blasters.

BOOSTERI’m tired of playing tag with you ugly. Let’s see you walk away from a full intensity blast.

Booster unleashes on Doomsday.

DOOMSDAYBah!

Doomsday walks through the blast at Booster.

ICEHe’s still coming.

Ice drags Blue Beetle behind some cover and hides.

Booster stops blasting and raises his force field.

BOOSTER Gotta get my force field up before-

Doomsday’s fist connects with Booster’s face as the force field is activated. The force of the punch creates a SONIC BOOM, shatters the force field, and sends Booster flying high into the air.

Doomsday walks away.

DOOMSDAYHa ha haa!

EXT SKY - MORNING

Booster soars through the air. He shakes his head.

Suddenly a hand grabs Booster by the collar.

SUPERMAN (O.S.)That’s far enough Booster.

BOOSTERYou!

EXT SKY - MORNING

Superman floats holding Booster up by the shirt.

SUPERMANI hear you people are having some trouble.

BOOSTERTrouble? Trouble? Trouble isn’t the word Superman. I just barely raised my force field in time. The force of his blow was overpowering my flight suit. If not for you I might have ended up in Florida. I’m telling you

right now, it’s like Doomsday is here.


A soot and oil stained Maxima lands next to Ice. Ice cradles Blue Beetle.

MAXIMAThe Blue Beetle, how is he Ice?

ICEHe’s unconscious. His pulse is nearly nonexistent. He’s dying Maxima.

MAXIMAThen our comrade shall perish a warrior fallen in battle. There is no higher honor one can attain.

ICENo Maxima! We can’t just leave him here to die! You have to get him to a hospital before it’s too late. I don’t have the power to do that, but you do! You have to give him a chance at life.

MAXIMANo. There is a battle to be fought here. A destructive creature is on a rampage that could kill hundreds. Perhaps only an Almeracian may have the power to stop him.

ICEPlease, Maxima. You’re part of a team. Part of a family now. Look around you.

Maxima looks around the rubble of what used to be a Lexoil refinery.

Fire crawls over to Guy Gardener and helps him sit up. Bloodwynd is unconscious. Ice cradles Blue Beetle.

Maxima looks the way Doomsday went as if she will refuse to help, and then turns back to Ice.

MAXIMAI am a warrior. It is against my nature to let others do my work. Yet, your ways are not mine.

Maxima levitates Beetle’s body.

MAXIMA I hope you can survive the monster’s wrath until I return. Blue Beetle shall receive his medical care.

Maxima flies off with Blue Beetle.

ICEThank you Maxima.

Ice begins running after Doomsday, following his path of destruction dodging piles of rubble.

ICEBut now comes the hard part. Some how I’ve got to stop this maniac all by myself, even though he’s already shredded the whole team. If I use my brain, and keep my distance I might be able to hold him off until Maxima gets back. Booster might even be able to help, but I doubt it. That horror has probably put him in orbit by now.

Ice stops at the edge of a construction site. She sees that Doomsday went straight through it.

ICE (V.O.)Weird. It’s totally unyielding. He just marches straight ahead without deviating from his course. No matter what he finds in his path. And if memory serves…

Ice begins to run again.

EXT MITCH’S HOUSE - DAY

Mitch cruises down the sidewalk on his skateboard.

ICE (V.O.)There’s a housing development right over that hill.

MITCHMan do I love Half-day Fridays. No more sucky school for two whole days. Too bad I gotta go home to the war zone.

Mitch flips his skate board into his hands and heads up the walk way.

MITCH I can just hear mom now. “Mitch, dear, is that you? How was your day?” As if everything should be ok. What did she do to make dad leave?

Mitch opens the door.

MITCH Home sweet home. What a dump. I hate this hole.

MITCH’S MOM (O.C.)Mitch, dear, is that you?

Mitch walks into the house.

INT MITCH’S HOUSE

MITCHRight on cue. (beat)No, it’s Axl Rose and the band. We got anything worth eating around here?

Mitch walks into the kitchen. MITCH”S MOM is feeding Mitch’s baby sister BECKY. Mitch heads to the refrigerator.

MITCH’S MOM

Help yourself to the fridge. How was school? Did you do well on your algebra test?

Mitch roots through the fridge.

MITCHLike you care. Hey! What happened to all the soda?

MITCH’S MOMOf course I care. Say wasn’t today the day that Superman was going to address high school students on TV. You must have been thrilled to see that.

Mitch shuts the fridge and leans against it.

MITCHNo way. The super weasel was called away on some case, so he bailed early. Why do we always run out of soda around here? Why can’t you ever buy enough to last?

MITCH’S MOMLook, I’m sorry, but your little sister isn’t feeling well so I didn’t have time to go shopping today!

MITCHI’m tired of that baby being the only one who rates around here. I mean dad always has soda for me at his new apartment!

MITCH’S MOMI am sorry, Mitchell, but I can not keep up with everything here. This house isn’t perfect and neither am I, but we do the best we can.

MITCHJeez. No wonder dad left and wants a divorce.

Mitch’s mom is so shocked by Mitch’s harsh words, that she doesn’t even make a sound. Slowly a tear works its way down her cheek as she stares at Mitch. He looks away, embarrassed, but watches his mom out of the corner of his eye. She begins to cry softly.

MITCH Going over to Aaron’s. See you.

Mitch’s mom perks up quickly.

MITCH’S MOMWait, did you here that?

Suddenly Ice smashes though the kitchen window.

MITCHOh man!

MITCH’S MOMBecky! The glass!

Ice lands on the kitchen counter and lies still. Mitch’s mom picks Becky out of the baby chair.

MITCH’S MOM Mitchell, I want you to call 911. Hurry.

Mitch’s mom looks out the broken window at the drive way.

MITCH’S MOM Oh god. Outside, in the driveway.

EXT MITCH’S HOUSE

MITCH’S MOM (O.S.)Our car.

Doomsday stands in the drive way, his hand driven into the car up to his forearm, holding the car up and out at arms length. Mitch leans out the front door.

MITCHCheck it out. That dude did all that with one hand tied behind his back.

DOOMSDAY

Hrrr?

Doomsday looks up and sees Superman and Booster descending. He tosses the car aside like a toy.

BOOSTERThat’s the guy Superman. He’s the one who took the Justice League apart at the seams.

Booster lands a safe distance from Doomsday.

SUPERMANWhat was it you called him Booster?

Superman lands right in front of Doomsday.

SUPERMAN Oh yeah.

Doomsday punches Superman in the stomach and he takes it without budging, without flinching.

SUPERMAN Doomsday!

Doomsday growls and delivers a perfect side kick to Superman’s stomach, knocking him through the wall. Booster’s force field goes up.

MITCH Get down!

INT MITCH’S HOUSE KITCHEN

Superman goes through the wall, over the counter where Ice is lying, and through the opposite wall.

EXT MITCH’S HOUSE BACKYARD

Superman comes out the far side of the house.

Superman slams into a tree, shattering the trunk. Mitch’s house leans at an odd angle.

SUPERMAN

Unbelievable! I don’t know if I’ve ever been hit that hard!

EXT MITCH’S HOUSE

Doomsday grabs Booster and slams him face first into a tree, snapping the tree. Doomsday walks away and the force field around Booster fades.

Some blood trickles out of Booster’s nose. He struggles to get up.

BOOSTERWh... where’s the rest of the league?

INT MITCH’S HOUSE

The wall explodes inward as Doomsday punches through it.

MITCHMa!

MITCH’S MOMWhy? Why are you doing this to our house? What do you want from us?

Doomsday’s red goggles reflect Ice just starting to open her eyes, still lying helpless on the counter.

DOOMSDAYHmf...

Doomsday punches Ice in the ribs with a loud KRUNCH. Ice screams at spits out blood.

DOOMSDAYHa!

Becky cries. Doomsday turns on Mitch’s mom and Becky. Mitch’s mom cradles Becky in her arms keeping her away from Doomsday.

MITCH’S MOMNo! Not my baby. Please not my baby!

Doomsday is about to strike when Superman flies into what’s left of the house and knocks Doomsday out of the house with a punch.

SUPERMAN

Back off! (to Mitch’s mom)Get your family out of here miss. I’ll cover your escape as long as I can.

EXT MITCH’S HOUSE

Guy Gardener, Bloodwynd, and Fire descend into the scene. Bloodwynd has a guiding arm on Guy Gardener. Guy’s face is bruised, and he has two enormous, puffy black eyes. Booster gets to his feet.

BOOSTERYou won’t have to do it alone, Supes. The cavalry is on the scene.

GUY GARDENERS’matter blue? Is that guy too tough even for you?

FIREGuy, that monster might be too tough for all of us.

Even though they are battered and beat the members of the Justice League put on a brave and grim face.

BOOSTERNo way babe! I say we hit him with everything we got.

BLOODWYNDAll of our powers in a combined, concentrated effort.

They look to Superman.

SUPERMANDo it!

They all begin blasting Doomsday with whatever powers they have.

SUPERMAN Pour it on.

GUY GARDENER

Can’t see. Someone better point my ring at the sucker’s ugly face.

Bloodwynd aims guys arm.

BLOODWYNDDone.

BOOSTERGive it everything you got and this dude will find out what kind of trouble he buys when he takes on the Justice League!

INT MITCH’S HOUSE

MITCH’S MOMYou heard Superman. We have to get out of here.

Mitch’s mom drags Ice.

MITCH’S MOM And we can’t leave this poor woman in the line of fire.

Mitch grabs Becky, and runs outside. He is captivated by the fight.

The combined energy powers of the Justice League envelope Doomsday. Flames, Plasma, Heat Vision, and other energy flows around him in a maelstrom.

MITCHWow, Guy Gardener’s face is beaten so puffy that he can’t even see, and he’s still in there fighting. Cool.

The light begins to brighten. Soon it is too bright to look at. Mitch shields his face from the heat and light.

SUPERMANAmazing. I can’t even see him anymore, but I think he’s still standing.

GUY GARDENER

Don’t stand there blabbin’, blue! Just turn up the juice.

FIREGetting tired.

SUPERMANIgnore it Fire! Just keep pushing.

The flame around Fire dissipates, her blast stops, and she drops to the ground and wobbles on her feet.

FIRENo! My flame is totally spent. Can’t go anymore.

BOOSTERSame here.

Boosters blast dies out.

BOOSTER My power cells are almost shot. And, without my suits powers I’m about as powerful as Pee-Wee Herman.

GUY GARDENEROkay, let’s give it a rest! After all this there’s no way Doomsday can still be standin’.

They stop blasting and there is silence.

There is a ton of smoke around the area where Doomsday stood. The thick smoke drifts on the wind, thinning and drifting away.

BLOODWYNDI think you may be mistaken.

A deep GROWL starts amidst the smoke. The smoke blows away revealing Doomsday still standing there.

The left side of his face and torso are now exposed. Grey skin and wispy white hair have been revealed. There are also two bony spikes, one on each knee, that have torn through his green suit.

The binding on Doomsday’s right arm glows like metal in a forge. Doomsday strains against the binding and tears free.

SUPERMANIncredible. He took all that energy without missing a beat!

BLOODWYNDFire, you, Guy Gardener, and Booster are no longer able to defend yourselves.

GUY GARDENERHey!

BLOODWYNDI suggest you all withdraw and let Superman and I handle this monstrosity.

Doomsday takes a step towards them.

BOOSTERNo time gang! Doomsday is coming! Lookout!

With a burst of speed Doomsday is among the heroes.

SUPERMANHis speed.

GUY GARDENERWhere is he.. uhh

He knocks Superman away with his right arm, grabs Booster by the throat with his left, and runs over Fire, Bloodwynd, and Guy Gardener.

Doomsday lifts Booster up.

Doomsday punches Booster in the face, then slams him head first into a tree branch.

DOOMSDAYHa!

Doomsday grabs him by the suit which rips most of the torso off.

BOOSTER He’s faster than The Flash. Can’t get...

Doomsday carries Booster to Mitch’s mom’s car. He opens the door and sticks Booster’s head in it.

BOOSTER No!

Doomsday slams the door on Booster. An energy readout on Booster’s suit ticks down to zero.

DOOMSDAYHa!

Doomsday opens the door and holds Booster up by what remains of his costume.

INT MITCH’S HOUSE

MITCH’S MOMWhat is that... thing?

Fire comes running through the rubble.

FIRECan’t fight, but I can at least help you.

MITCH’S MOMBut what about that? What is it?

FIREMaybe a robot or something from another dimension. Whatever it is,

EXT MITCH’S HOUSE

Doomsday holds Booster up. Guy Gardener tries to aim his ring.

FIRE (V.O.)it’s deadly.

GUY GARDENER

Can’t see, but I can hear the bones breakin’.

Guy turns towards Doomsday.

GUY GARDENER Gotta point, blast, and hope.

Doomsday sees Guy Gardener aiming at him out of the corner of his eye. Before Guy can blast, Doomsday hurls Booster at Guy. Booster slams into Guy and they both go down.

Superman and Bloodwynd both fly at Doomsday from behind.

SUPERMANTwo front offensive now!

They split to take him on either side. Superman is taking Doomsday’s right side.

BLOODWYNDI shall blast this horror.

Without looking Doomsday swings both arms back hitting them both in their faces. Bloodwynd’s eye blasts are shot at Mitch’s house instead of at Doomsday. Mitch jumps out of the way. Bloodwynd’s eye beams hit the house and make a big fire real quickly.

BLOODWYND No!

MITCHJeez! Bad enough the monster is thrashing us. The league doesn’t have to help!

INT MITCH’S HOUSE

Part of the house explodes, surounding Mitch’s mom and sending Fire flying out. Mitch ducks.

Fire hits the ground hard and lies still. Mitch gets up and gets as close to his house as he can.

MITCHWhere.. where is everybody? Ma? Are you OK? Ma!!!

INT MITCH’S BURNING HOUSE

Mitch’s mom struggles to her feet.

MITCH’S MOMSo much smoke. Can’t breath.

Mitch’s mom falls unconscious.

Doomsday stands next to the burning house, unaffected by the fire, laughing. He crouches and launches himself into the air.

SUPERMANNo. No, way is that maniac escaping me!

Superman flies after Doomsday.

Mitch searches as far into the house as he can go. He can see his mom lying on the ground, but can’t reach her. He drags Ice out of the fire and then heads back in trying to reach his mom.

MITCHMa! Oh man she must be hurt or something. The fire’s surrounded her. I’ll never get her out of there! Superman!

EXT SKY

Superman flies straight after Doomsday.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)I don’t know who or what exactly this Doomsday thing is, but I’ll beat the answer out of him if I have to! He doesn’t appear to have any magical

powers so I won’t have to worry about that.

INT MITCH’S BURNING HOUSEMITCH

Please Superman! You just gotta hear me!

EXT SKY

Superman is getting close to Doomsday.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)That boy I saw! I can hear him calling, but I’m so close.


Timbers CREAK and SNAP in the blaze.

MITCHHelp us! Please!

EXT SKY

Superman is about to grab Doomsday’s leg.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)If I let Doomsday get away there’s no telling what devastation he’ll be responsible for. Much as it pains me I have to stay with him and block out that plea for help!


Mitch is inhaling a lot of smoke. His cries are dying down and he is starting to waver. He staggers out of the blaze with tears in his eyes.

MITCHPlease Superman! You just gotta come back! Please.

EXT SKY

Superman grabs Doomsday and pulls him down face to face. Superman punches Doomsday toward the ground. Superman turns and looks at the house.

An ambulance arrives, but no fire crew yet.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)Damn! Gardener and the rest are unconscious. I’ve got to get back down there!

Doomsday slams into the ground, gets to his feet, and launches himself back at Superman. He punches and misses.

Superman grabs Doomsday’s suit.

SUPERMAN You’re fast and strong, but you leap instead of flying.

Superman turns Doomsday around and flies, pushing Doomsday ahead of him, at a lake.

SUPERMAN So long as I can hold tight you’re at my mercy where inertia’s involved.

They hit the water and continue down.

EXT UNDERWATER

Superman pushes Doomsday towards the bottom.

SUPERMAN The bottom should be soft enough to keep you from getting a good jump for a while.

Superman drives the top half of Doomsday into the lake bottom, and flies up.


Mitch’s mom is surrounded by a ring of burning debris.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)

I just pray I’ve still got time to help that family.

Mitch’s mom stirs. There is a loud KERACK of beams breaking over head. She opens her eyes in horror.

MITCH’S MOMOh mercy. Don’t let that be the sound of beams giving way.

The beams fall. Mitch’s mom bows her head.

BLOODWYND (O.C.)Hope is not lost.

Bloodwynd dashes in and grabs the beams. His side is torn and bleeding. He struggles to keep the beams up.

BLOODWYND Not while Bloodwynd still stands.

MITCH’S MOMI don’t know where you came from mister, but thank God you’re here.

BLOODWYNDYou should also thank Superman.

Superman flies down and picks Mitch’s mom up. He flies out of the house. Bloodwynd lets the beams fall and flies out from under them.

SUPERMANBloodwynd, are you OK? You took quite a beating. All of the leaguers did.

BLOODWYNDI will recover.

MITCH’S MOMS-superman, what about my son Mitch?

SUPERMANHe’s down there with the EMS crew miss.

EXT MITCH’S HOUSE

The EMS crew is working on Mitch. They stop and watch Superman and Bloodwynd descend with Mitch’s mom.

MITCHThey did it! They saved my mom.

Other EMS crew members are working on the other members of the Justice League.

A WGBS news crew arrives.

FIREWhat now?

SUPERMANYou all should go to the hospital you all took in a lot of smoke.

EMS MEMBER (to Bloodwynd)How ‘bout it fella? Let’s have a look at you.

BLOODWYNDI am not badly wounded. My power is depleted. All I need is time to recover. Time I fear we do not have.

An EMS crew member pushes a gurney past Superman. Guy Gardener lies on the gurney. Ice walks with the gurney. As the gurney passes Superman Guy Gardener struggles to grab his cape.

ICEDon’t struggle... what is it?

Superman turns to Guy.

GUY GARDENERDon’t wuss out Boy Scout! Put this Doomsday guy in a pine box or I’ll crawl offa this gurney and kick both o’yer butts!

SUPERMANI’ll take care of things Guy. You just let the doctors help you.

Superman turns to one of the EMS members.

SUPERMAN You there. You can get these folks’ medical records from Maxwell Lord in New York City.

EXT SKY ABOVE MITCH’S HOUSE

Superman takes off.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)Now to see if Doomsday is still where I left him.

EXT LAKE

A military helicopter hovers a few thousand feet above the lake. Behind them is a small town.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)Question is... How do I restrain him when the combined force of the Justice League couldn’t do it?

EXT UNDERWATER

Doomsday thrashes around in the mud. Finally he frees himself.

Doomsday tries to jump, but the soft mud squishes instead of throwing him up. He spots a large boulder on the bottom and makes his way to it.

Doomsday climbs up onto the rock. He looks up to see the vague shape of the helicopter above the water.

EXT LAKE

The surface of the lake begins to ripple even though there is no wind and the chopper isn’t close enough to cause any disturbance. The water explodes upward and Doomsday shoots out of the lake at the helicopter.

INT HELICOPTER

RALPH and CO-PILOT freak.

CO-PILOTHoly... That’s our target down there Ralph. It’s coming up fast, but our weapon systems locked on! Commencing launch of Hellfires.

Doomsday smashes through the helicopter, behind the pilot, just as the missiles fire. The destruction causes the missiles to go crazy.Ralph and his co-pilot jump out of the shredded air craft. Doomsday goes out the top of the helicopter. The rotors hit him and break.

CO-PILOT Mayday. Mayday. The missiles are running wild.

Superman flies into the action.

SUPERMAN Geez. Does this guy just live to destroy or what?

Superman snags one of the errant missiles. He throws it at Doomsday.

SUPERMAN Let’s help this missile hit its target.

The missile hits Doomsday in the back. The explosion knocks him out of his controlled jump and into free fall. Superman grabs the two airmen.

SUPERMAN I’ve got you. And while Mr. Destructo’s in free fall I’d better take care of those other two errant missiles!

Superman hits the missiles with his heatvision.

EXT KIRBY COUNTY POLICE STATION

A desk with a box of donuts and a coffe.

CHIEF (O.C.)Something tore up a stretch of property out on route 110 Rusty.

INT KIRBY COUNTY POLICE STATION

CHIEF sits at his desk hanging up the phone. RUSTY stands facing the chief, some papers in his hands. There is a cell to Rusty’s right with a sleeping prisoner in it.

CHIEFLowell said a bunch of folk, including some of the Justice League, are being rushed to the hospital.

RUSTYJustice League? Should I crank up the civil defense siren, chief? Maybe we should get everyone into their basements. Say, you hear that.

A soft WHISTLING grows louder.

RUSTY Kind of a cartoon sound a bomb makes just before it-

A vague green-grey blur falls on top of the police car parked out front, crushing it.

RUSTY Mother of pearl!

Rusty runs outside followed by Chief. Rusty has his gun drawn. Doomsday steps out from amidst the wreckage of the car.

RUSTY Uh, Chief. I think I’m gonna need a bigger gun!

CHIEFSay.. there’s that sound again.

SUPERMANThe gloves are off Doomsday! I’m tired of treading lightly!

Superman comes down on top of Doomsday with both feet, driving Doomsday into the ground. Superman disappears into the ground with him.

A few moments later the ground explodes. Superman and chunks of asphalt are thrown into the air.

CHIEFHot damn! Those good old boys are tearing up Main Street.

Superman flips in the air and flies back at Doomsday.

CHIEF Get the governor on the phone!

Doomsday jumps out of the hole and grabs Superman’s throat. He brings Superman face to face with himself and roars in his face.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)Is it possible that this guy’s getting stronger?

INT KIRBY COUNTY POLICE STATION

The sounds of THE FIGHT can be heard out side as mighty blows are struck. The chief is on the phone.

CHIEFLook Mr. Vice-Lieutenant Governor, I’m telling you this is going to be more than just a local emergency if’n you don’t get the blasted National Guard here A.S.A.P.

The wall caves in and Superman flies backwards through it, holding onto Doomsday’s outfit with his right arm. He punches with his left and pulls Doomsday into it with his right.

CHIEF Mother O’ mercy! You hear that, you tin-horn bureaucrat?

Doomsday slams out of the police station. He slides along the ground tearing up the street.


Another military helicopter flies into action. Doomsday lands and gets to his feet. The helicopter begins firing machine guns at Doomsday.

INT HELICOPTER

BLUE LEADERThis is Blue Leader. Target sighted and we’re ready for a run. Over.

CONTROL (O.S.)Blue Leader. Approach with extreme caution. We’ve already lost one chopper to this thing! Over.

BLUE LEADERWe hear ya control. Over and out!


The helicopter circles Doomsday, close and low to the ground, firing the entire time. A few shell casings fall into Doomsday’s hands. He looks at them curiously, and then crushes them.

BLUE LEADER (V.O.)This bubba’s taking everything the chain gun’s raining on him with a smile.

Bullets rain down around Doomsday. He grabs a light pole, rips it out of the ground, and uses it to spear the helicopter.

Superman Exits the police station.

INT HELICOPTER

BLUE LEADERWhat the..? We’ve been hit!

CO-PILOT2No... We’ve been speared. The back-up control system’s not gonna do squat with bubba down there directing our flight.


Doomsday glares at Superman. He uses his make shift spear to throw the helicopter to the side.

BLUE LEADER (O.C.)Ho-leeeeeee. No time to bail! Mayday Mayday!

Superman flies through the Chopper and pulls the men out just before it hits the town hall.

BLUE LEADER Whu? Who’s that?

SUPERMANRelax, soldier. You and your co-pilot are going to be okay though I don’t think this town’s city hall will be open for business any time soon.

Superman drops them on the ground.

SUPERMAN Now excuse me, guys, but there are a dozen people trapped in that wreckage who need my help!

Doomsday stands reveling in the destruction.

MAXIMA (O.C.)Stand there amid the destruction and revel in it warrior!

A green gloved hand taps Doomsday on the shoulder.

MAXIMA (O.C.)Your motives are unclear as yet.

Doomsday turns and Maxima knocks him off his feet with a mighty punch. It sends him a block away.

MAXIMA But if it is battle you crave, I am pleased to oblige!

Maxima takes off after Doomsday. Superman gets the last person out of the city hall wreckage and follows after Maxima.

SECURITY GUARD (V.O.)You can’t just barge in like that lady!

EXT WGBS BUILDING – DAY

LOIS (V.O.)But it’s an emergency.

SECURITY GUARD (V.O.)Look lady. That red light over the door means they’re taping. The cameras are rolling.

INT WGBS BUILDING

Lois Lane is confronting a SECURITY GUARD who won’t let her enter Studio B. Cat Grant is walking down the hall towards them.

SECURITY GUARDGet it? You can’t just bust in on them!

LOISCan you at least tell me how I can get a message to someone in there?

CAT GRANTLois Lane? What brings you to WGBS’s studios?

LOISCat Grant! Thank God, a familiar face! Look, Jimmy Olsen’s in there and he’s needed on an assignment.

SECURITY GUARDThey’re taping “The Turtle-Boy Show” Ms. Grant.

LOISHe could lose his job.

Cat pushes past the guard and opens the door.

CAT GRANT

I’ll take responsibility if we disrupt anything. This has to do with Superman and the destruction north of here, right?

INT WGBS BUILDING STUDIO B

Cat and Lois walk into the studio where JIMMY OLSEN is being filmed, dressed in a ridiculous ninja turtle-esque suit in front of a blue screen. Off to the side the director holds a script.

CAT GRANT (amused)Hi, “turtle-boy”

Taping stops. The director turns to Cat and Lois.

DIRECTORWhat’s going on?

LOISJimmy, the chief will have your hide! Your lunch hour isn’t three hours long.

JIMMYLois! Err, taping ran a little long, but this is my first show.

LOISPerry wants us to cover this incident in Ohio. Ned’s waiting for us at the heli-pad! Hurry up!

CAT GRANTYou two better look at something first. WGBS is about to interrupt “The Brave and The Bold” for a news break.

Cat, Lois, and Jimmy (still in costume) enter the small news control room. LEON sits there controlling stuff. There is a monitor that is playing “The Bold and The Brave.”

CAT GRANTHi Leon. Mind if we watch?

LEONGo right ahead.

The monitor goes blank and then comes back on with STEVE LOMBARD sitting at a news desk.

STEVE LOMBARDThis is a GBS newsbreak. I’m Steve Lombard.

The monitor cuts to a shot of Guy Gardener grasping at Superman’s cape and talking to him.

STEVE LOMBARD (V.O.)Reports are coming in from Ohio that some kind of juggernaut is tearing through the state leaving thirty dead in its wake. Hundreds have been injured. Including members of the famed Justice League.

STEVE LOMBARD (V.O.)Some theorize that the creature is on a course straight to or through Metropolis.

LEX LUTHOR sits watching the news. SUPERGIRL sits on the arm rest of his chair with her arm around him.

EXT GRIFITH GROCERY STORE - DAY

Maxima stands facing a looming Doomsday.

LEX LUTHOR (V.O.)We need a contingency plan in case this menace makes his way to Metropolis.

MAXIMABy the house of Almerac you still stand eh?

INT GRIFITH GROCERY STORE

There is a loud KABOOM and Doomsday sails through the glass doors of the grocery store.

MAXIMA (O.C.)You will bow down before me creature!

EXT GRIFITH GROCERY STORE

Superman lands behind Maxima.

SUPERMANMaxima? What on earth? There’re bound to be innocent people in that store.

MAXIMA

There are always innocent victims in battle! Do not dare impugn me.

Maxima tries to punch Superman in the face. He catches her fist without a problem. Her punch doesn’t move his hand.

MAXIMA Superman!

SUPERMANLook, just think before you swing, okay Princess? We can’t quarrel among ourselves.

Doomsday comes slamming into them head first. They both recover in the air. Superman grabs onto Doomsday from behind, choking him. Maxima get settled in front of Doomsday.

SUPERMAN (struggling)Hurry, Maxima. Hit him with everything you’ve got. I can’t hold-

Maxima swings. Doomsday ducks forward and down, pulling Superman into the punch. It knocks Superman off Doomsday.

MAXIMAHow could he move so fast? He’ll not catch me by surprise again.

Doomsday comes out of the duck with an uppercut to Maxima’s stomach, sending her flying across the parking lot into the parking lot of the gas station next door.

Doomsday moves at Superspeed, picking up a V.W. van and slamming it on top of Maxima just as she hits the ground from his punch.

Doomsday steps back to admire his work, a Volkswagen half buried in the cement.

A flameless explosion rips the van apart. Maxima stands where the vehicle was both arms just finishing their swings that tore the van apart. She is bleeding from several cuts and her clothes are torn.

MAXIMA Your onslaught does little more than stimulate me creature! Maxima

welcomes this. For only when a warrior faces death can a conflict be deemed truly worthy!

While Doomsday’s attention is on Maxima. Superman flies at him and hits him, from above, with both feet, knocking Doomsday off his feet into a gas pump. Gas erupts around Superman and Doomsday.

Superman and Doomsday pummel each other in the gas. They clash, both punching at each other and both grabbing the others punching fists with their free hands. They struggle for dominance.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)Maxie’s reveling in this, and Doomsday doesn’t seem to be slowing down much. I don’t know how much longer I can keep this up

MAXIMAHold him tight, Kryptonian. Maxima will not miss again.

Maxima grabs a light pole.

SUPERMANMaxima! That light pole’s going to spark!

Maxima rips the light pole out of its base and sparks go everywhere igniting the gas. A massive explosion throws all three of them into the air.

Superman, Doomsday, and Maxima hit the ground. They all lie there for a second. Doomsday stirs, gets up, and continues on his way.

A MOTORCYCLIST stops. He jumps off his bike and runs over to Superman and Maxima. Superman stirs. The Motorcyclist helps Superman to his feet

MOTORCYCLISTSuperman, are you all right?

SUPERMAN(shaky)Doom- Doomsday?

The Motorcyclist helps Superman to a large piece of concrete. Superman steadies himself on the piece of concrete while the Motorcyclist checks on Maxima.

SUPERMAN(less shaky.)Maxima?

INT HOUSE – DAY

A family watches a newscast.

NEWSCASTERA battle that has raged across half the nation since midday has left several members of the Justice League seriously injured. Blue Beetle is reported to be comatose, both Guy Gardener and Booster Gold are in critical condition. One moment.

A paper is handed to the newscaster on the T.V.

NEWSCASTERThe village of Griffith in Upstate Kirby County was rocked by an explosion. Moments ago-

The newscast cuts to footage of Superman and Maxima fighting Doomsday at the gas station.

NEWSCASTER (V.O.)-as Superman and Maxima fought to stop the dubbed, “Doomsday,” creature whose rampage has left behind a trail of death and destruction. Despite their efforts the creature is reportedly still on the loose.

EXT GAS STATION – DAY

The Motorcyclist helps Maxima sit up. He looks into her eyes. She pushes him away weakly.

MAXIMA (weakly)Doomsday, must stop Doomsday.

MOTORCYCLISTTake it slow and easy. I’m a med student. Looks like you’ve suffered a pretty serious concussion.

The Motorcyclist kneels over Maxima.

MOTORCYCLISTShe’s starting to stir, I think she’ll be okay. You guys don’t look so good.

SUPERMAN(determined, back to normal)That doesn’t change the fact that I've got to stop Doomsday. Maxima is right. He’s a threat to every living thing. But she’s in no condition to deal with him. Please, get her to a hospital. I’ll stop Doomsday if it’s the last thing I do.

Superman takes off and flies after Doomsday following the path of destruction.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)My god..look at that! Tracking Doomsday is like following the path of a tornado. There’s utter devastation everywhere he goes.

EXT HIGHWAY NEAR LEXMART - DAY

Doomsday smashes an overpass causing a semi truck to fall on top of him. The semi-truck explodes in pieces around Doomsday as he breaks it with a punch from the inside out.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)I’ve never seen anything on earth or off it, to equal him for sheer brute strength. It was painful to see what he’d done to Guy Gardener. It’s like death and destruction are his only thoughts. It doesn’t matter who or where. There’s no discernible pattern to his movements, he just seems to wander from place to place attacking whatever catches his eye. There is no

reason to anything he does. He’s all rage. I have to stop him, and I have to stop him alone.

Doomsday walks out of the wreckage towards another car that tries to stop.

DOOMSDAYHraurr!

Doomsday reaches for the car.

INT CAR

CHARLIE 2My god.

Doomsday grabs the car and throws it straight into the air.

CHARLIE 2 Him? Huh, he? What did? How did he? Omigod I don’t believe this! I’m flying?

DOOMSDAYRaur?

EXT SKY

Charlie’s car flies up into the air.

INT CAR

CHARLIE 2This can’t be happening. I must be dreaming. That’s it. I’ve dozed off at the wheel. Got to wake up before I have an accident. Wake up Charlie! Wow, must be nearly a mile up. Everything looks so pretty from up here. So real. What’s the matter with me! Wake up already! Feels like I’m slowing down.

EXT SKY

The car slows, hits its peak, and then begins to fall, tipping backward.

INT CAR

CHARLIE 2 Omigod. The car’s tipping backwards! This is no dream, I’m going to die.

Superman flies under the flipped over car, and grabs it by the roof.

SUPERMANIt’s okay. I’ve got you.

CHARLIE 2You’ve got me, heh, sure!

SUPERMANSir, don’t be afraid. Everything’s going to be alright.

Superman rights the car.

CHARLIE 2S-s-superman. I hope you’re real otherwise I know I’m dead.

SUPERMANNo chance of that sir. Keep talking and take long, slow, deep breaths. Don’t go into shock on me now. I’m after the creature that must have attacked you. Can you remember anything about him? Anything at all?

CHARLIE 2Creature? I… yeah! He was big. Came right at me. Grabbed hold of my car and just threw it! It happened so fast. Didn’t seem real at first. What is he Superman?

SUPERMANI wish I knew. He came from out of nowhere. He’s destroying things at

random, apparently for the sheer hell of it!

CHARLIE 2Then yeah, it must have been him that collapsed the overpass.

SUPERMANOverpass!?!

Superman looks down.

EXT OVERPASS

There are a few overturned cars next to the ruins of the overpass.

A police car pulls into the scene.

SUPERMAN Ah, there’s a state trooper on the scene. Good. And I hear rescue vehicles on the way...!

EXT SKY

Superman looks farther down the way.

SUPERMANOh no!

CHARLIE 2What’s wrong? What do you see?

Superman descends. SUPERMAN

More trouble. Terrible trouble. I’m needed. I’ll set you down near that state trooper. Tell her to call for more rescue teams! We’ll need them-

Superman sets Charlie’s car on the ground.

EXT LEXMART - DAY

The parking lot is trashed. Cars are broken, twisted, and smashed. Some are upside down. Others are piled on top of each other. The

glass front doors of the Lexmart are smashed, and people are fleeing out of them.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)-at the shopping plaza on the northwest side of Midvale.

SHOPPER 1Run! Run for your lives!

MOMMy kids!! O God, where are my kids?!

LOUD SPEAKER (from inside store)Attention Lex-Mart shoppers. This is an emergency situation. Please exit the store in a calm and orderly fashion.

Doomsday tromps through the store. People run from him as he destroys the place.

Superman flies into the store.

Superman knocks Doomsday into the air with a punch, and then flies into him both fists first, like a torpedo.

EXT LEXMART LOADING DOCK

Superman and Doomsday fly through the wall, Superman pushing Doomsday at super speed. They crash into the back part of a semi-truck. Two WORKERS and the BOSS are on the dock.

WORKER 1Holy… What was that?

WORKER 2I, I think that the red and blue blur was Superman. I don’t wanna know what the other thing is.

BOSSAmscray, you two! We gotta evacuate this loading dock, on the double!

Doomsday is laughing. He punches Superman out of the truck.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)Ow! This is insane! I’d swear the harder I fight, the more Doomsday likes it! He’s been fighting most of the day, but he still seems as eager and as strong as ever!

In the distance the WHUP WHUP WHUP of helicopters grows louder.Superman looks past Doomsday and sees two news helicopters approaching.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)‘Copters. The one in the lead is the Daily Planet’s flying news room. Oh lord. Lois and Jimmy are on board. I hope the pilot keeps his distance.

Doomsday sucker punches the distracted Superman.

EXT HELICOPTER

Lois stands at the chopper’s open side doors looking out and using a small tape recorder to take notes for her story. Jimmy is taking pictures with his camera.

JIMMYThat’s Doomsday? Wow, he’s a big one!

LOIS (V.O.)

Very big. Be careful Clark. (out loud)“..The Midvale Lex-Mart stood in ruins as Superman struggled with the mysterious creature.” End of paragraph.

INT LEXCORP BUILDING - DAY

Lex Luthor is taking off his tie and loosening his shirt. Supergirl stands, watching Superman battle Doomsday on multiple televisions.

LEX LUTHORWell, my news director assured me that he’s dispatched a camera crew to get to the bottom of this Doomsday nonsense. (v.o.)So you won’t go chasing off after it.

SUPERGIRLIt’s not nonsense Lex! They’re on the air now. Doomsday just wrecked one of your shopping marts.

LEX LUTHORWhat?! Bloody hell!

SUPERGIRLSuperman’s trying to stop the creature, but he’s not having much luck. Anything that can give Superman that hard a fight must be incredibly powerful! I’d better go help!

Superman and Doomsday are trading punches in the parking lot behind the restaurant. The news Helicopters circle overhead.

LEX LUTHOR (V.O.)-Superman will be just fine!

Doomsday picks up a bus and throws it at Superman.

INT DAILY PLANET HELICOPTER

Jimmy takes pictures while Lois dictates to her recorder.

LOISTheir battle raged across the rear lot of a fast food restaurant where… Omigod! Uh, where D-doomsday hurled a parked bus at the Man of Steel.

INT BIG BOB’S BURGERS

Superman it knocked through the window into Bob’s. People scatter.

CUSTOMERIncoming! Everybody down.

SUPERMANLook out!

BLIND PERSONWhat..?

EXT OTHER SIDE OF BIG BOB’S

Superman continues through the other side of the restaurant. He lands on his back.

LOIS (V.O.)Knocking him through the side of a building.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)At least the bus was empty, but all those people inside the restaurant! Hope they’re alright. Got to pull myself together. Got to end this.

Doomsday comes leaping out of the restaurant. He lands at Superman’s feet and looms over him. Something behind Superman catches Doomsday’s attention.

DOOMSDAYHah-ha! Hah-ha..huh? Mhh-Trr-plss?

Superman stands and looks at what Doomsday is looking at. It is a road sign indicating 60 miles to Metropolis.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)Oh, no. No!! He remembers that stupid commercial! He’s making a connection..!

Superman decks the distracted Doomsday.

SUPERMAN

Sixty miles might as well be sixty paces to this monster! I can’t let him get any closer. I can’t!!

INT HELICOPTER

Jimmy and Lois are still doing their jobs.

JIMMYJeez! Superman must’ve gotten a second wind or something! I’ve never seen him fight so hard!

LOISNeither have I Jimmy! Next paragraph. “Taking advantage of the creature’s momentary distraction-

EXT BIG BOB’S BURGERS

Superman grabs Doomsday by the foot, lifts him, and begins to spin.

LOIS (V.O.)-Superman redoubled his efforts..

SUPERMAN (V.O.)Got to keep him off balance and avoid his reach! He must weigh close to a ton. More weight means more momentum.

Superman hurls Doomsday into the air towards some high hills in the distance. He then takes off after him.

SUPERMAN You’ve taken everything I’ve dished out so far. Maybe slamming into those hills at a few hundred miles per hour will soften you up! (V.O.)I hope so. This is one time I could really use some help and the Justice League is incapacitated! I’m surprised that young Lex Luthor hasn’t sent Supergirl to help. By now he surely knows about Doomsday smashing his store. Lex the second is a more active type than his father

was. I’d half expect him to lead a Team-Luthor squadron up here himself! Of course, if his father were still alive I’d have half expected the old man to have engineered this Doomsday monster!

INT HELICOPTER

GARRETI don’t know if I can catch up with them, Ms. Lane. Not as fast as they’re going!

LOISJust do your best Garret. Metropolis isn’t that far. I’ll bet Superman’s trying to keep Doomsday away from the city.

GARRETWell he’s headed in the right direction-

EXT HILLS - DAY

Doomsday slams into the hills creating a large crater.

GARRET (V.O.)-not much to worry about there. No one’s allowed much up into those hills. Even a lot of the air space is restricted. I think some sort of federal preserve is tucked away up there.

INT CADMUS RESEARCH FACILITY

Johnson, Rodrigues, and Westfield are thrown off their feet as the whole building shakes from the impact of Doomsday hitting the hills.

WESTFIELDWhat the-

JOHNSON

What’s going on?! Is this an earthquake?!

RODRIGUESInconceivable. This is one of the most geographically stable regions on the continent! It’s why we chose it for Habitat. No, the project must be under some manner of bombardment.

Rodrigues grabs a communication device. Johnson helps Westfield to his feet.

JOHNSONTake it easy Westfield! We’ll get to the bottom of this.

EXT HILLS CRATER - DAY

Some dust drifts in the air.

All is silent for a few seconds.

DOOMSDAYUhhh... Hhungh...

Doomsady pushes away a bunch of large rocks, almost boulders, that have buried him. The cloth and googles that were masking half his face has been torn away.

Superman is flying at Doomsday from behind.

DOOMSDAY Hrraarh!!

SUPERMANDamn, he’s still conscious!

Just as Doomsday gets to his feet, Superman hits him before he can get his bearings. He knocks Doomsday into the midst of HABITAT.

Superman continues his onslaught, hitting Doomsday again and again. Knocking him in the air and into the “trees” never letting him get his footing.

As Superman pounds Doomsday around, the enormous tree structure gets battered and begins leaning.

Doomsday finally gets his footing up on a high level of HABITAT. Doomsday is laughing as the hit each other.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)This, unngh, is not, ow, getting any easier!

Superman pushes Doomsday backward into a large “tree trunk.” When Doomsday is pushed back into the “tree trunk” it breaks and begins to fall on both of them. Superman catches the huge trunk.

Superman slams the trunk down on Doomsday. This is the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Habitat collapses and Superman and Doomsday go tumbling down, Doomsday faster propelled by the hit.

Doomsday slams into the ground and is buried by the rubble. Superman disappears in the dust.

INT CADMUS RESEARCH FACILITY - DAY

Computers and desks have been thrown all over the place. Westfiled helps Johnson to his feet. Rodrigues is unconscious and bleeding from an injury to his head.

WESTFIELDLet’s get out of here.

JOHNSONWhere’s Rodrigues?

WESTFIELDOver there.

They check on Rodrigues. He’s breathing.

WESTFIELDWe’re going to have to carry him out.

They hoist Rodrigues up between them and shuffle out of the room.

They take two flights of stair up to a door with a number pad next to it. Johnson types in a code and the door slides halfway open. Johnson and Westfield manage to push it open the rest of the way.

EXT HILLS

Johnson and Westfield pull Rodrigues out of a very well concealed door way. They look down on the ruins of what was Habitat. Superman is lying on top of a huge heap of rubble.

WESTFIELDI think I see Superman down there. Stay here.

Westfield runs down the hill.

SUPERMAN (shaky)Where’d you come from? Where’s Doomsday?

WESTFIELDSo that’s what it was. He’s buried under what’s left of Habitat I presume. It looks like you barely got out yourself.

SUPERMANToo… wasted. Need to rest soon as I make sure Doomsday’s stopped.

WESTFIELDRelax. You got him. Nothing could have survived that.

SUPERMANHope so, but I have to be certain.

Superman begins scanning the wreckage using his X-ray vision.

SUPERMAN Hard to see through the ruins. Eyes won’t focus. I… oh, no.

The rubble erupts, throwing Superman and Westfield.

DOOMSDAYGrauhrarr!

The rubble settles and Doomsday stands alone. Knee spikes have torn out of his suit. The torso of his suit is all but gone.

DOOMSDAY

Hrrarh? Hnnhh!

Doomsday leaps away with a powerful jump that covers miles.

DOOMSDAY Mhh-Trr-Plss!

Westfield lies half buried and unconscious. Superman lies buried entirely, but for his hand sticking out of the rubble.

Superman pushes the debris of himself painstakingly slowly. He takes a deep breath, spits blood out of his mouth, and takes off after Doomsday.

EXT HIGHWAY

A sign marking out the mileage to places. “Metropolis 50 Miles”

A green-grey blur comes down, smashing the sign, and blurs up and away again.


Lois and Jimmy gaze over the pilot’s shoulders towards the hills. Doomsday hits the ground about a mile away and jumps again.

LOISOh my God. He’s coming this way.

Doomsday passes close to the Helicopter.

JIMMYWhere’s he going?

GARRETHe’s heading for Metropolis.

JIMMYLook, here comes Superman. Go Supe!

LOISGet on the radio. We have to warn them that-

EXT METROPOLIS CONSTRUCTION SITE

The men on the construction site are going about their jobs.

LOIS (V.O.)-Doomsday is coming.

Doomsday lands behind a dump truck with a ground shaking thud. He has elbow spikes eight inches long on each elbow. Small spikes have sprouted on his shoulders and his face as well. White bone bars are growing in front of is eyes.

Doomsday picks up the dump truck and the driver jumps out.

CONSTRUCTION WORKER 1What is it?

CONSTRUCTION WORKER 2I dunno! Just run!

Doomsday lets the truck drop. He slashes the driver’s throat with the spikes on his right hand. A billboard for the Metropolis Arena catches Doomsday’s eye.

DOOMSDAYMhh-Trr-Plss!

He grabs Construction Worker 2 by the head. Doomsday’s hand encompasses his head and neck.

CONSTRUCTION WORKER 2Metropolis! It said Met-

Doomsday snaps the man’s neck.

Doomsday throws Construction Worker 2’s body at a steel support column of the building that was being constructed.

Superman comes flying at Doomsday from behind again and hits him like a torpedo, with both fists.

SUPERMANForget it Doomsday! Your rampage stops here!

As he flies forward, Superman flies up, taking Doomsday with him. They fly right by the Daily Planet’s flying news room, and the WGBS chopper.


Jimmy takes pictures.

LOIS New paragraph: Doomsday’s rampage in Park Ridge was cut short when Superman grabbed the monster rocketing him away from Metropolis toward the vacuum of space.

GARRETAn’ if he knows what’s good for him, he’ll stay there.

LOISI... hope so Garret. Doomsday is probably the deadliest foe Superman has ever faced.

JIMMYMan, this must be my lucky year. Those were some of the best shots I’ve ever gotten. Don’t sweat it, Lois. He’s Superman, right, he’s gotta be okay!

EXT METROPOLIS SKY

Superman is pushing Doomsday towards space.

Doomsday whips his feet over his head, like a gymnast doing a back flip. This gets him off Superman’s hands, and behind him. Superman turns to grab Doomsday and gets kicked in the stomach.

Superman and Doomsday go falling to the earth.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)Creature’s as agile as it is strong. Kicked me. Can’t breath.

Doomsday lands on his feet and bounds forward.


JIMMYLois, look! Doomsday’s free.

LOISI see him Jimmy. Oh lord, where’s Superman!

Superman’s body falls past the helicopter to the earth. He smashes through the building that was under construction, smashing through steel girders.

LOIS There. I hope he’s all right. New paragraph. Far above Metropolis the monster broke free, hurling the Man of Steel more than a mile to the ground.

CAT GRANTSuperman’s down! Get closer, blast you. WGBS needs a shot of this!

INT KENT HOUSE - EVENING

MARTHA and JONATHAN KENT sit, holding each other, watching the television.

MARTHAThis is our son, Jonathan! He’s being beaten to a pulp and those T.V. reporters are treating it like entertainment.

JONATHANClark is our boy, ma. But to the world he’s Superman. It’s not that they’re callous. ‘Least they don’t mean to be. It’s just-

EXT METROPOLIS CONSTRUCTION SITE - EVENING

JONATHAN (V.O.)-they don’t think anything bad can really happen to him!

The rubble shifts and Superman pushes steel girders off himself. His cape is tattered and he is bleeding from the mouth.

SUPERMANWhere’d you go?

INT LEXCORP BUILDING

MRS. ANDERSON is interviewing Lex Luthor. She is there with her CAMERAMAN and BOOM MIKE-MAN. Supergirl stands with Lex Luthor. The building shakes from a nearby explosion.

LEX LUTHORYou can tell your viewers, miss Anderson, that Lex Luthor doesn’t know what Doomsday is or where he came from, but it has become increasingly obvious why he is here. That creature has a grudge against Superman!

SUPERGIRLOh, Lex. Do you really think so?

LEX LUTHORIt seems probable, doesn’t it, love? I’m loath to ask, but does Metropolis need a champion who draws such negative attention? Does Superman’s presence here cause more harm than good?

SUPERGIRLI-I think Doomsday may be more than Superman can handle alone! Don’t be annoyed Lex, but I have to help him!

LEX LUTHORVery generous love. Indeed I agree with you. Metropolis must be preserved! Team Luthor will be there as soon as they can.

Supergirl takes off.

EXT METROPOLIS SKY

Superman flies up with Doomsday in a full nelson. Doomsday struggles.

SUPERMAN

Can’t-

Doomsday slams both arms down, breaking Superman’s hold. He elbows back, burying his elbow spike in Superman’s side. Superman tries to hold on, but Doomsday reaches over his head, grabs Superman by the cape, and throws him, bleeding, to the ground.

SUPERMAN -hold on.

INT ORPHANAGE

MYRA and the orphans watch Doomsday throw Superman down. Superman hits the building next to the orphanage. After a second it explodes. Myra ducks and shields as many kids as she canEXT METROPOLIS SKY

The flames spread quickly to the orphanage.

Doomsday starts to fall. Supergirl rams Doomsday like a torpedo.

SUPERGIRLSuperman! Don’t worry Superman! I have him.

Supergirl carries Doomsday up.

SUPERGIRLNever seen a creature this powerful. Must be some-

Doomsday twists in Supergirl’s grip and punches her in the face. The punch is so strong it sends her hurtling to the ground, reverting to her own, alien form, a scrawny purple alien.

SUPERGIRL (fading to unconcsious)-kind of alien.

Superman gets to his feet amidst burning rubble.

MYRA (O.S.)Help! Superman, Help!

EXT WHAT’S LEFT OF ORPHANAGE

Myra kneels with the children. Superman jumps in the way just as another explosion throws fire at them.

SUPERMAN I’m not good for much, but I still make a pretty good shield!

ORPHANSuperman! I knew you’d come! Is that, that Doomsday monster? Did somebody build him like a giant Frankenstein?

SUPERMANI don’t know.

MYRAFrom the way he behavin’ I’d say he’s the devil incarnate usherin’ in the end of the world!

Superman pulls them out of the fire and takes off after Doomsday without a word.

EXT METROPOLIS

The SCU pulls up in their cars. TURPIN and MAGGIE get out in the lead. Turpin is smoking a large cigar and not wearing any protective gear. Both carry enormous guns.

TURPINHere he comes, Maggie! Ugly sucker!

Doomsday stalks down the road smashing anything near him.

MAGGIEYou’re a master of understatement, Turp! C’mon! Nail him now!

The SCU opens fire with their laser guns. Nine laser blasts hit Doomsday with a constant stream.

SCU MEMBERHe’s not stopping!

Doomsday takes out three SCU members and picks up their car. He grabs Turpin with his other hand and throws him. He throws the car in the same direction as Turpin.

Turpin flies past Maggie.

MAGGIETurp!

TURPINYeoww!

Suddenly Superman is there and catches Turpin with one arm. He stands looking at Doomsday.

TURPIN Superman!

SUPERMANGet Maggie and the S.C.U. out of the way, Turpin! On the double! I’m not sure I can make a dent in Doomsday’s hide. He’s already made several in mine!

Superman dashes in and giving Doomsday a right cross to the jaw. Bone chips off and blood flies from Doomsday’s mouth. Doomsday howls in pain.

Turpin looks down at a trail of blood left by Superman.

TURPINOh Lord.

Doomsday uses his knuckle spikes to slash Superman in the ribs at the same time that he gets hit.

PRIVATE (O.C.)Visual sighting confirmed, sir! Doomsday is right below us.

PLATOON LEADEROpen fire!

EXT METROPOLIS SKY

Above Superman and Doomsday fly jet pack soldiers with laser cannons on the tips of their wings. They open fire. The Daily Planet’s helicopter flies above the Team Luthor men.

PLATOON LEADERCadmus’s weapons experts swear these shock cannons’ll do the trick! Let’s hope they’re right!

PRIVATE 2They keep moving! What if they do the trick on Superman?

PRIVATE 3That’s a chance we’ll have to take, soldier! Seems like even Superman can’t stop that thing alone!

Superman and Doomsday stand on the ground exchanging blows, oblivious to the laser fire that is showering down around them. It hits them with no more effect than water would have.

SUPERMANYour rampage ends here Doomsday! Even if it kills me, Metropolis is where I hold he line!

LOIS (V.O.)The battle has devastated the better part of America leaving a path of destruction almost as long. Earth’s mightiest heroes have already fallen under Doomsday’s murderous blitzkrieg. Only one hope… One man remains.

SUPERMANIt stops here mister! This insanity ends in Metropolis!

Superman grabs Doomsday in a reverse head lock with his left arm.

Superman is holding Doomsday so tight that Doomsday’s bone beard cuts into his bicep. Doomsday punches at Superman. Superman catches it with his right hand.

Doomsday’s left hand punches Superman in the ribs causing him to loosen his grip on Doomsday’s head and hand. Doomsday drives Superman face first into the pavement with his right hand.

The News helicopters are very close to the action. INT WGBS HELICOPTER

CAT GRANTMove in closer!

Doomsday picks Superman up over his head.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)Have to move faster. Match Doomsday’s speed or I’m done!

Doomsday throws Superman at Private 2, smashing them both into the Daily Planet’s helicopter.

GARRETToo late Miss Lane! Our hydraulic cables have just been sheered in half!

EXT METROPOLIS SKY

Superman spins, letting the Team Luthor man fall, and grabs the helicopter.

SUPERMAN (at the WGBS chopper)Get away from Doomsday.

INT WGBS HELOCOPTER

JOEIt’s getting nasty here Ms. Grant! We better back off!

CAT GRANTNo way! We are not going to miss the story of the century!

EXT METROPOLIS SKY

Superman gets under the Daily Planet helicopter and flies it out of the line of fire. Jimmy and Lois are practically hanging out of the side door.

JIMMYMan, I don’t believe this! I may be getting the greatest pictures ever, but it’s costing us half the city!

LOISSuperman, are you all right? You look so…so…

SUPERMANI’d like to get you two as far from danger as possible, but I just don’t have the time! No telling how many lives Doomsday could take while I’m gone!

Superman sets the helicopter down. Jimmy jumps out and perches where he can get pictures of Doomsday. Doomsday kicks a van into a car. Team Luthor continues to fire at him.

Lois gets out of the helicopter and stops Superman from getting right back in the fight.

LOISPlease, Maybe you should retreat and get help! If Jimmy is right-

SUPERMANToo late, Lois. The Justice League has already fallen and there are too many innocents in jeopardy right now! It’s up to me.

LOISClark… I…

SUPERMANJust remember, no matter what happens, I’ll always love you. Always.

There, concealed by the ruined helicopter, smoke, and distraction of Doomsday, Superman and Lois kiss. Superman breaks the kiss.

SUPERMAN Doomsday!

He flies right over Jimmy’s head leaving his wife crying.

LOISWait! Come back. Please come back.

JIMMYWow, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the big guy so fired up!

SUPERMANNobody tears apart my city and gets away with it! I don’t know what hole you crawled out of or where you came from, but I’m sending you back!

Superman rams into Doomsday with his head down, using himself as a bullet. He is moving so fast that he takes Doomsday through a sky scraper, and a bus before Doomsday gets his bearings.

INT WGBS HELOCOPTER

JOECan you believe that? If this keeps up we won’t have a city left!

CAT GRANTStay close so we can keep up the broadcast! The whole country will want to see Superman kick this creep’s butt!

EXT METROPOLIS SKY

Team Luthor flies around the building trying to catch the fighters.

PRIVATE 3I want to keep firing, but it’s impossible They’re moving too fast.

Doomsday twists, grabs Superman’s feet, and drives Superman head first into the ground like a nail. Superman’s cape is torn off by the pavement..

Jimmy and Lois run over to where Doomsday stands over the hole. Jimmy stops, Lois keeps going.

JIMMYStay back Mrs. Lane! We don’t need to get that close to get a decent picture!

LOISWe can’t worry about pictures! Superman is in trouble and I intend to help him!

DOOMSDAYHurm?

Doomsday takes a step towards Lois.

JIMMYI don’t think we’re going to get that chance! Grizzly is coming this way.

LOISMove while you can Jimmy! I’ll distract him while you run!

Behind Doomsday Superman’s fist shoots out of the ground. Superman stands up from under the asphalt. Half of his shirt is torn off. Blood drips from his many cuts and flows steadily from his side.

SUPERMANEnough Doomsday! If you want to get your hands on my friends-

Superman knocks Doomsday to the side with a punch to his lower back.

SUPERMAN -you’re going to have to kill me first!

Lois ducks as Doomsday flies over her.

LOISWhat is he? What does he want?

Superman pins Doomsday to the Daily Planet building using his heat vision. Superman walks towards Doomsday.

SUPERMANHe wants destruction and death! To stop him I have to be every bit as ferocious and unrelenting as he is!

LOISBut you can’t! He wants to kill and you, you can’t!

Doomsday knees Superman in the chin. His knee spike gashes Superman.

Doomsday rakes Superman’s face with his left hand spikes.

Superman grabs Doomsday’s hands as if they were playing mercy. He puts his foot on Doomsday’s knee spike.

SUPERMAN If those bones are just extensions of his skeleton!

Superman stomps down breaking the knee spike off. Doomsday howls a howl of pain that is the loudest sound he has made.

SUPERMAN (V.O.)Yes! I’ve finally managed to hurt him!

Superman and Doomsday are standing on Superman’s cape. They hit each other at the same time. The windows of the Daily Planet and surrounding buildings shatter.

BYSTANDERWatch out for falling glass.

Superman and Doomsday draw apart slightly. They launch themselves at each other.

Superman slams both his hands down on Doomsday’s head, and Doomsday uppercuts Superman at the same time.

NARRATOR (V.O.)Like weary boxers who have gone the distance, the combatants collide in one last explosive effort. In the years to come a few witnesses will tell of the power of these final punches... that they could literally feel the shock waves. Others will remember the enormous crater that resulted from the sheer force of the blows. But most will remember this sad day..

Everyone watches as Superman and Doomsday fall.

NARRATOR..as the day the proudest, most noble man they ever knew... finally fell.

LOIS (WHISPERED)No.
