The Email That Started It
Hi All, One evening, on the way back home from an O2 Mortgage team ou?ng in San Francisco, I was in a par?cularly reflec?ve mood. It could have been from the beer and hotdogs earlier or the slow train ride home. Nonetheless, I was thinking about our company and what makes O2 so great. As I write now in 2016, we have a small company enough to share 2 large pizzas and have some leK over, but I know as we grow it is important for us to con?nue to hold onto the same fundamental values and culture that has goLen us this far. We believe companies take a life of their own by the people who work for them and for us we’ve seen O2 Mortgage’s culture grow naturally into something we are all proud of. Because of our small size, with good hard working people we have been a company that just embodies our core values and company culture without having these ideas wriLen down. That is up un?l now… Dave and I have spent many hours discussing how we want to grow. We believe growth is not the end all be all of business. Making clients happy IS how you stay in business and growth is a byproduct of happy clients. In order to con?nue having happy clients as we grow, company culture is our #1 priority. We strongly believe that if we treat our culture as the founda?on of our company and get this right, then everything else will fall into place. With that being said, if our culture is to take ownership in our work, then we feel confident our clients, partners and our O2 Mortgage team will always be taken care of. It is a simple theory, yes. Can it be done?… We think so! I understand that our culture will be many things, to may people, and some of our staff will share their thoughts in this book, but for myself, O2 Mortgage’s culture is about ownership. It is about doing the right thing. When doing the right thing is easy and when doing the right thing is hard. Whether that makes us look good or bad in the present moment. I believe in the long run, leading by this core value we will see success and be able to build something great. This is some of my thoughts on what embodies our companies values. We hope this culture book will you give you a beLer understanding of who WE are as O2 Mortgage and the all the pieces that help make our company something we are proud to be apart of. -‐ Drew

Hear It From Our Team
I asked the team to write a few sentences on what the O2 culture means to them and what sets us apart from other organiza?ons. The next few pages are some of their thoughts on what defines O2’s culture.
Drew, Loan Officer / General Manager
Out of all the people on our team, I don’t think there are two alike in the group (probably for the best). But it got me thinking about our group and the culture that we have.
“I think O2's culture is defined by a few key items; success, fun, fast paced and problem solving. I believe we are a results based business where we expect top-‐level producCon. We are given the tools, training, and team to accomplish these goals, have fun and being able to laugh with or at each other makes the ride more fun. ”
– MaW, Loan Officer
“We are very much a family here at O2 Mortgage. We are a group of individuals with different interests and personaliCes that all contribute to one common goal, which is providing the best possible service to our clients. We are a like-‐minded group and understand that geGng the job done is the top priority, but we certainly find Cme to have fun along the way.”
-‐ Jamie, ProducYon Manager
“ I think the term ‘work family’ really applies to our team. Most of us see each other outside of work regularly, and have real friendships out of the office. We like to laugh with each other, and someCmes at each other. And like a family, we’re fiercely protecCve of each other and try to always have each other’s backs. Someone who doesn’t have that same opinion of the people they work with and just wants to punch a clock in and out wouldn’t fit in with us. We may not always ‘like’ each other everyday, and we have our tense moments from Cme to Cme, but family doesn’t have to always like each other as long as you always support one another. ”
– Janessa, Loan Processor
“ Every posiCon is vital in ensuring a smooth transacCon. Everyone plays on the same team for a common goal. CommunicaCon and creaCng relaConships with coworkers, clients & venders is what keeps us successful. Curveballs are constantly being thrown at us. Constant adapCon is required for conCnued success & growth.
Everyone at O2 Mortgage has a completely different personality, but we are all professional in appearance and kids at heart, no maQer
the age. “ – Danny, ProducYon Manager
"The culture here at O2 mortgage is very special. We are an upbeat group of people that get work done, but have fun in the process. We are all very open with each other and the culture around the office promotes growth and innovaCon.”
– Alex, Client Development Specialist
“We are one unit with mulCple moving parts. Our culture and our success can be aQributed by everyone’s effort and willingness to help each other out for the best interest of the company. UlCmately it is about the business being successful but what works well about our team is how well we all get along. Everyone on our team has a thick skin and can be the expense of a joke but also can dish it out.”
-‐ Gen, Office Assistant
“Common sense… if you don’t have it, you don’t belong here. We each have our own important role and we all do our very best to emulate that role everyday. We take pride in our work and it directly correlates with the saCsfacCon our client’s experience. As we conCnue to improve and exceed our client’s expectaCons we grow and adapt new ways of doing tasks in order to surpass the original O2 Mortgage way. We are constantly growing, learning, and becoming bigger and beQer. You must love and embrace change… we will always be changing.” -‐ Jessica, ProducYon Manager
“I feel that the culture we’ve developed here is similar to what it means to be “like-‐minded”. We’ve developed a special degree of trust in each person on our team and in our processes. This special trust ensures consistent care and due diligence is performed every Cme we touch a file. If we strive to be consistently like-‐minded and working with each other I think that’s the type of culture we would want. Our borrowers would see this and be assured knowing they are in good hands.”
– Ryan, Loan Processor
