THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN COSTS US GREATLY

MATTHEW 13:44-46

God must reign in our hearts.◦“Do not present your members as

instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God” (Rom 6:13).

◦“Submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (Js 4:7).

THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN COSTS US GREATLY

The kingdom of heaven costs us our finances.◦The parables illustrate that.◦ If we’re committed to Jesus, we’ll give all.

Rich young ruler: “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me” (Matt 19:21).

Poor widow: Mk 12:43-44.

Every penny needs to be brought into submission to the will of God.◦Matt 6:24.◦How?

Budget. Wise us of possessions.

The kingdom of heaven costs us our priorities.◦That happens in the parables.◦We need to grasp the kingdom of heaven

with enthusiasm. “Seek first the kingdom of God and His

righteousness” (Matt 6:33).

How do we seek first the kingdom?◦Worship.

We’re not to forsake “the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching” (Heb 10:25).

◦Work of the kingdom. “My beloved brethren, be steadfast,

immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Cor 15:58).
