mugs, And brushes are no more; I'll forget about the glory, And the millions who are saved; And "kid" my "Dad," about those •Funny faces when he shaved.

I may forget the homestead Where we children romped and

s MEN'S BIBLE CLASS

The subject of our lesson for next Sunday is Jesus in Gethsemane. The events follow very closely those of last Sunday's lesson. It is the hour of darkness. A trai tor lurks in the background. Jesus is in agony and prayer. His disciples fall asleep. The angel of the Lord appears. Jesus is betrayed by the kiss of Judas, and Pleter denies h i s Christ. I t is the account of a series of start l ing events, highly dramatic in character .

One interesting phase of God'e plan is revealed in the connecting

verses of. this lesson and those of last Sunday. The fact tha t God perm-its us to be subjected to temptat ion is vividly shown in Jesus' conversation with Simon Peter. He told Peter, "Behold Sa-t an h a t h desired to have you tha t he may sift you as wheat; but I have prayed for thee tha t thy fa i th fail not." Peter's answer was posi-tive and direct but it was not the t ruth. He replied, ''Lord, I am ready to go with thee iboth into pri-son and to death." Jesus then told him he would deny his Lord three times before the cock's crow. Jesus knew tha t Peter would not -be able to confess Him before men under the circumstances of t ha t night. Nevertheless the fact remains that Peter was a free moral agent. He could have =tocd firmly for his Christ had he had fai th to believe he could. The fact tha t he did not have the necessary fai th and Jesus kne.v it explains why the prediction was made.
