We all love to surround ourselves with colour, which is why choosing the right ones for your home is so important. Our new Guide is designed to offer help and inspiration.

Inside, you’ll see that we’ve worked with some of the most beautiful colours in our new range to create stunning but simple looks for your home. In particular, we’ve created Feature Walls using blocks of vibrant colour against more muted shades. This is an easy way to lend a little drama to otherwise simple rooms or small niches.

The colours we’ve used here are only a small selection from our range, so you might want to take a look at our whole collection before making a decision. You can see all of our colours on our Premium Interior Emulsions Colour Card, which you can pick up at our stores or from our contractors.

At Dulux we love colour and we’ve really enjoyed putting together this new Guide for you. So whether you already know what colours you want to use, or are looking for ideas, we hope you’ll enjoy reading it.

A BEAUTIFUL CANVAS

Using our range of whites and pastels gives you so many stunning options. Create a modern look with crisp whites or mix pastels to give your room a wonderfully subtle sense of harmony and depth.

Using pastels behind the shelving in the room above, we’ve intro-duced a warmth that offsets the very geometric shelves.

In the room to the right we’ve used a different colour on each wall. The delicate contrasts lend a sense of depth to the space.

QUIET HARMONIES

This bedroom feels contemporary and yet wonderfully restful because the two colours on the walls have been chosen to harmonise with each other.

The detail below shows how good creams are for spaces where you need to bring different surfaces together for a smooth fi nish. The wooden paneling and the plastered wall are blended seamlessly by the rich cream paint.

ROMANTIC & SOPHISTICATED

The focal point of the bedroom on the previous page is the vibrant pink framing the bed. This is actually a fl oating Feature Wall created by painting a wooden panel.

The simple room here (left) is made stylish by the contrast between the romantic colours on the walls and the hot pink used to paint the little table.

This dusky pink (below) has a lot of darker pigment in it, which gives this colour its very modern, sophisti-cated tones.

STRONG AND DRAMATIC

Using a panel of vibrant red as a Feature Wall in this kitchen brings it to life. And the drama is heightened by using it sparingly - creating a focal point for the room. The red is then picked up in the glassware on the table.

Because the reds (below) are slightly darker hues, they work beautifully together on an entire wall to give the room a really strong, warm look. Again, the colours are echoed in the choice of the tablecloth with its red highlights.

EVER POPULAR, ALWAYS UPLIFTING

Yellow is a happy colour and is a favourite choice for children’s bedrooms. Using a sunny yellow on the wall we’ve created a charming, colourful room for a little boy or girl.

The yellow on the wall on the right is very vibrant. And by providing a bold contrast, it does a wonderful job of showing-off the beautiful fl oor.

NATURAL MAGIC

The painted wall niche in the sitting room on the previous page not only breaks up a large area, but also pulls the whole look together by echoing the colours of the furnishings.

On the left we’ve used two natural greens inspired by the colours of the garden. The effect is to create an airy and calm space. Perfect for unwinding in.

The green below is bursting with energy and contrasts with the traditional dark wooden furniture, creating a modern look.

BALANCE & BEAUTY

The three rich blues in the room to the right are sophis-ticated and tranquil shades. Because we’ve stayed within one colour palette, they work together even in a small space. The effect is to add depth to the room.

By contrast, in the room below, the fresher blues are uplifting and reminiscent of sunny skies - perfect for a window.

Tranquil Blue (6310)

West Pointe Blue (7306)

Blue Bolt (6336)

Harbour Blue (6727)

We have 18 Blues in our range

Sumptuous, rich and profound, this palette will lend stature to any room. It’s also very versatile, and looks wonderful with both crisp pale colours and smoky darker hues.

SENSUOUS & CHIC

The drama of this wonderful bedroom is provided by framing the bed using a deep purple contrasted by a lighter pink. This Feature Wall is then accented very simply with the creams and soft greys of the furnishings, which have been chosen to work with the cream fl oor.

The grey on this wall (below) is opulent and yet also works as a very effective canvas for the richly coloured furnishings.

One easy way to add a dash of excitement to your room is to create a Feature Wall. This is simply done by painting a section or niche with really striking colour. It works best when the colour is set amongst more subtle shades. The effects can be stunning and can really lift a room. Have a look at pages 10 & 11,16, 22 & 23 and 30 for some examples.
