NHS TIMELINE of KEY EVENTS
October 3rd
, 2014 NHS COLLEGE APPLICANTS’ KICKOFF
students attend a theatre presentation in which the 2015 College
Information Program resources are reviewed by the Guidance
Department
students attend CIP presentations with reps from Seneca, Humber,
George Brown and Georgian colleges
October 10th
, 2014 first transmission of student applicant data from NHS to OCAS
including: demographic information, history of OST-recorded course
marks, current & second semester course registration
October
& November students are encouraged to complete their college program research by:
- attending NHS COLLEGE APPLICANTS’ KICKOFF
- reviewing the ontariocolleges.ca web site
- attending YRDSB regional Post-Secondary Evening Fair (HHSS on
W. October 29th
)
- reviewing individual college publications/web sites
- attending College Information Program (CIP) events
(see ontariocolleges.ca website for all dates and locations)
- contacting college liaison reps, faculty advisors, and admissions
officers for program information and selection process details
- visiting college campuses for Open House events and campus tours

QUALIFY FOR ACCEPTANCE!
November 19th, 2014 2nd
data transmission to OCAS from NHS
semester one mid-semester marks forwarded electronically by NHS to
OCAS for potential college applicants
STUDENTS DETERMINE 5 COLLEGE PROGRAM CHOICES
(with no more than three at any one college)
STUDENTS COMPLETE ONLINE APPLICATION
& SUBMIT WITH APPLICATION PROCESSING FEE ($95)
create an account and complete the online application at ontariocolleges.ca
Record and keep your OCAS application number in a safe place as it will be required for any
future contact with OCAS!
select the programs (up to five) to which you want to apply – in order of preference!
pay the required 95$ application processing fee – online is easiest
NOTE: the date payment is received at OCAS is considered the date your application is received
print a copy of the application for your records
STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, ESPECIALLY WHEN
APPLYING TO ‘HIGHLY COMPETITIVE’ PROGRAMS WHERE THERE ARE OFTEN
ENOUGH QUALIFIED APPLICATIONS RECEIVED BY THE FEBRUARY 1ST
‘EQUAL
CONSIDERATION DATE’ TO FILL THE PROGRAM
November 24th, 2014 students attend a presentation by the NHS Guidance Department
reviewing details of the College Application (Period 5, Theatre)
November 24th
, 2014 first date 2014-15 application data is sent from OCAS to the colleges
earliest date that colleges may acknowledge applications
After Applying
applicants check their online application to verify that academic data is
correct (note: applicants must inform their guidance counsellor of any
concerns, additions or changes required)
students submit supporting academic documents to OCAS (e.g. TOEFL
scores, out-of-province high school transcripts)
applicants may make changes to personal information or program
choices through their on-line application account
OCAS will transmit application data (as it is received) to the
college/program selections indicated
applicants may receive communications from the colleges to which they
applied and should be ready to complete any additional eligibility
requirements
applicants with special needs (e.g. learning disability, physical
disability) are encouraged to identify themselves with the individual
colleges as early as possible!
February 1st, 2015 Equal Consideration Date for Fall 2015 Programs
applications received at OCAS on or before this date will be given
equal consideration in the application process
applications (or changes to program choices) received after this date
are considered on a first-come, first-served basis
Earliest Admission Offer Date for All Applicants
Earliest Date that Applicants may Confirm an Offer of Admission
Offers of admission will continue to be issued until programs are filled
or waiting lists are established
Students who do not have the entrance requirements may be notified
that they do not qualify for admission
CONFIRM your ACCEPTANCE of an OFFER of admission ONLINE
You must confirm acceptance of an offer online at ontariocolleges.ca on or before the expiry date
indicated by the college
You may change your confirmation of acceptance, but can accept only one offer at a time (your
current acceptance will automatically cancel your previous acceptance)
February 10th
, 2015
& April 24th
, 2015 Academic data file updates (i.e. first semester final marks in February,
and mid-second semester marks in April) forwarded electronically by
NHS to OCAS
Applicants check their on-line application to verify that academic data is
correct (note: applicants must inform their guidance counsellor of any
concerns, additions, or changes required)
May 1st, 2015 By this date, applicants MUST confirm their acceptance of an offer of
admission to their chosen college online through ontariocolleges.ca
For offers made after this date, colleges will determine the date the
confirmation is due. Check your offer letter for details.
June 15th
, 2015 Earliest Date that Colleges can Require Payment of Tuition Fees
July 3rd
, 2015 Academic data file updates (final second semester marks and proof of
graduation) forwarded electronically by NHS to OCAS
Applicants check their on-line application to verify that academic data is
correct (note: applicants must inform NHS of any concerns, additions,
or changes required)
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT TRANSCRIPT DATA
If you enroll in a non-YRDSB course in the 2014/2015 school year, it is your responsibility to ensure
that the institution reports your marks to OCAS at the appropriate transmission times. If you
complete any non-YRDSB course, it is your responsibility to ensure that the NHS Guidance
Department receives an official transcript from the institution so that the course can be included on
your NHS transcript.
