Page 1 THE COG - RCM Meeting 1630 Bulletin 31 May 2017 Meeting 1629 of The Rotary Club of Morialta was a combined meeting with the Inner Wheel Club of Tea Tree Gully held on Tuesday 23 May 2017. Those present enjoyed a very great meal provided by The REZZ Hotel and were privileged to hear the story of Marty Holmes. Marty is an optometrist employed by OPSM who undertakes voluntary eye examination work in third world countries and has also worked on medical mercy ships. His story is an account of a person undertaking amazing voluntary work mostly under extreme conditions. The Club’s next meeting will revert back to the regular time on Wednesday 30 May 2017 and the guest speaker will be Mr David Palmer from Autism SA. On Thursday 25 May 2017, Judi Brown, in her role as President Elect, and I attended the quarterly Group 7 Meeting which was attended by the current President’s and the incoming Presidents from Group 7. District 9520’s annual District Assembly was held this weekend in Murray Bridge and was attended by Judi Brown, Graeme Packer, David Riggall, Sabrina Koetsier, Tim Mee, Peter Mayer and myself. The available sessions provided the opportunity for those attending to be further informed and kept up to date with Rotary matters including Governance and Administration, The Rotary Foundation, Membership and Public Image, Service Projects and Youth Programs and I am sure that we all came away with a greater understanding of where Rotary fits in 2017 and beyond and how our Club can benefit from these sessions. This coming Sunday (4 June 2017) will be the final fundraising event for this year when the Bridge Day competition will be held. It was pleasing to observe that this event was highlighted in the regular Bridge article in this weekend’s Sunday Mail. Assistance from Members with the running of this event will be appreciated and Adel Abdelhamid is the contact person for more information. The Club’s next Board meeting will be held on Tuesday 6 June 2017 and all Directors are requested to provide their portfolio reports as soon as possible. The Club’s Changeover Meeting will be held on Friday 30 June 2017 and prepayment for this event is required. WEEKLY MEETINGS – REZZ

For many years now Richard Hurn has been very faithful in setting up the meeting room each week. Richard is currently away overseas and I am seeking a volunteer to set up and take down the Club’s paraphernalia and equipment during his absence. Brenton Summers

CAMPBELLTOWN NEWS LETTER- EXERT I have copied this from Rotary Club of Campbelltown newsletter, it will be of interest to some of our members. We have had discussions with Connie who told us she was involved in the naming of our Club “Morialta”. On a sadder note, I received and passed on advice last week re the passing of Connie Parkinson, whose funeral was held today (Monday 22nd). Connie’s husband Kevin was a long term member of the club and served with distinction as a club president and district governor, supported at all times by Connie in his Rotary and other endeavours. They are both sadly missed. Judy Cushway
