Greetings Friends
First I would like to say THANK YOU to each of you during October for
Pastor Appreciation month You all made this pastors heart full Thank
you for your kind words cards and of course the CHOCOLATE Thank
you so much for making me feel welcomed here at Clare UMC
As we begin the month of November we start the holiday season we
spend most of the month discussing what we are thankful for in our lives
This time of year brings back memories of the kids at the dinner table When the family gathered for
dinner we all took turns saying grace when it came time for one of the kids to say grace they would
go on and on naming their friends and all the animals and would end with saying all our names at the
table When they finished the food was getting cold and the adults would be grumbling Of course
the kids thought they were funny however as I reflect and smile about those memories it makes me
think how often do we stop and go on and on with God How often do we stop and spend time with
God just going on and on about how thankful we are for what we have As we go through these
times are we remembering our health church friends animals and yes even family and how
thankful we are for our lives to be full We have so much to be grateful for even when things are not
typical I hope that even if youre not feeling grateful today that you would take the time to spend with
God and lift one thing to the Lord that you are thankful for especially today And if you need some
guidance on where to start here is one of my favorite Psalms
Psalm 100
1 Shout for joy to the LORD all the earth 2 Worship the LORD with gladness come before him with joyful songs 3 Know that the LORD is God It is He who made us and we are H is[a] we are his people the sheep of his pasture
4 Enter his gates with Thanksgiving and his courts with praise give thanks to him and praise his name 5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever his faithfulness continues through all generations
This month I will be spending a few weeks on a series called Take Up Your Cross A series where
Jesus told a crowd that if any would follow him they should take up their cross As we look at
Marks passages we will look closely at this act of discipleship and what it means for our day to day
lives to take up our cross We will end our month starting our Advent series Coming Soon where
the Messiahs expectation and arrival is a grand movie-like epic
Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours and may you take the time to thank our
Lord and Savior for the many blessings you have today
Prayers for good health and that we stay focused and faithful each day
