Dairy Cross, Yelahanka New Town is just another sleepy suburb. But some of its inhabitants are up and running at the crack of dawn.
I find it rather hard to start my day without a cup of tea. Most of Dairy cross’s early risers seem to agree with me. At a time when the sun has barely risen, tea is a difficult com-modity to find. That is where Mr. Chengappa comes in, the man who helps Dairy Cross start its day with a hot cuppa and a smoke.I stumbled upon Mr. Chengappa and his tea cart a while ago. While heading to town early one morning, I stopped by his shop for some tea and have been doing so ever since. Pa-trons to his cart are as regular as patrons to any cafe in town. For some the day has just begun while others have just concluded a long arduous night shift.
In the pages of this book are the memories I captured at the cart over the durations of a month. Every Tuesday I would leave home at 5.30am. I would proceed to sit by the cart, with a cup of tea by my side and a camera round my neck.
