The mixture is present in all manifestations of the popular Carnival of Barranquilla. The cultures of different groups of humans who arrived in the Colombian Caribbean coast were mixed, and over time were

creating new expressions that characterize our identity.

Carnival is the largest folk festival in Barranquilla, the most joyful, the most libertarian, reflecting more strongly the jovial spirit and creativity of our people, and affirms our membership in the

Caribbean.

It is the largest festival of enjoyment, the most dignity, which we are all actors. Every dance, every cumbia, every extra, every costume contest to make this event the best show, not just for show, but

The Carnival of Barranquilla has its remote origins in the carnival that came to America from Spain. Hence the spirit of renewal and change

similar to that animated holiday in Europe. Today we find in the Carnival of Barranquilla facts established by the traditions such as dances, cumbias, comedy, costumes and some litanies, as well as new and original creations of costumes and other extras that are equally valid as those set by time, because the tradition is to the

party itself.

The first Carnival of Barranquilla is lost in history, more than a century ago, when Barranquilla was a small population.
