THE BIG FAMILY COOK-OFF

We want to present an original show that I have created.We believe this show provides something that is missing from current British TV programming. There are a lot of cooking shows on television at the moment but none of them focus on the family or present cooking as an activity that parents and children can do together. I hope that my TV show will be able to demonstrate how cooking can bring families together, while also being entertaining and enjoyable to watch.

INTRODUCTION

The Big Family Cook-Off is a TV show that we are proposing to air on British Television. Parents and children must enter together as a team. They compete against each other in a variety of cooking challenges with a potential contract for a joint TV cooking show as the final prize.

WHAT IS THE BIG FAMILY

COOK – OFF

• TV show is for families from 13-60

• Competitive reality shows like Strictly Come Dancing, The Voice UK, The Apprentice and Master Chef have proved consistently successful with this audience.

• Mark Linsey, the BBC's current controller of entertainment has himself said "There is so much competition for viewers' time across so many different platforms that big-hitting entertainment shows are some of the few programmes that bring people together. They are hugely important to broadcasters as they can bring the families together in a way other programmes cannot.“

TARGET AUDIENCE

• A variety of cooking shows have been successful in the past such as Nigel Slater's Simple Suppers, The Great British Bake Off, Nigellissima, Saturday Kitchen Best Bites, Nigel Slater's Simple Cooking and Masterchef.• This show is different from such shows because the audience can get involved in interactive ways. They can call the live show and vote for the participant that they like, or can go online and vote.

UNIQUE SELLING POINT

• Any parent with a child aged 12 and up can enter together. They must initially fill out a form online and then will be invited to an audition. • The link they should visit is• www.Thebigfamilycook-off.org.uk

HOW CAN CONTESTANTS APPLY?

THE JUDGES

There will be five different famous chefs. Possible candidates include: Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay, Heston Blumenthal, Nigella Lawson and Delia Smith.

• The Audition: Thousands of potential contestants audition for the judges and a theatre audience, who both vote on which performers to accept.

• Boot camp: At boot camp, parent and child teams are sorted into five groups where they create different types of food based on the individual judge they are assigned.

• Judges' Restaurants: After the contestants have been further narrowed down in the boot camp stage, each judge picks six teams to work in their restaurant for a week. At the end of this week, each judge selects their three favourite teams to mentor and take through to the live shows.

• Live Show: Judges mentor their teams through the live show process. A contestant is eliminated each week by audience vote, until a winner is finally announced. The live final will take place in the O2 arena.

THE PROCCESS

• The families on The Big Family Cook- Off compete for the chance to win a Television contract to produce their own cookery program, with £100,000. The winner will have their recipes released and promoted internationally.
