Built in 1912

Originally open aired, but eventually fully

enclosed by mid twentieth century

Once housed, “Columbia Down Under” –

similar to Atlanta’s Underground Atlanta

Hosted series of bars, shops, and food that

operated during the early 70s

Eventually succumbed to suburbanization

which plagued the businesses located above

After speaking with the realtor though, he

believed through appeals it would be able to

be made into a boutique hotel or micro-lofts

because we cannot touch original marble

Overhaul of men's and women's bathrooms on

the floor

Update elevator to ensure safety under heavy

disposal and outputs

Downstairs is going to pose the biggest

challenge

Needs complete overhaul of piping and flooring

that operate the whole building

The challenge is to reroute all utilities along walls

instead of in the middle of the room.

Key is maintaining buildings original structure

while redeveloping area

Clean out and remove debris left from previous

tenants

We decided against this idea due to the heavy

presence of hotels in the area

appeals process and the fact that housing and

hotels are readily present in close proximity
