    Scientology's Angels of Light

According to the Bible, "Satan himself masquerades as anangel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servantsmasquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will

be what their actions deserve."2 Corinthians 11:14-15

That verse comes to mind whenever the Church ofScientology's propaganda department manages to havethe cult or its various front groups presented as lily-whiteservants of humanity at large.

Those who know Scientology's track record ofhate- andharrasment activities - unethical behavior condoned andencouraged in the group's own scriptures, written byfounderL. Ron Hubbard - know that this movement is notnearly as benign as it would like to be portrayed.

Among those who do not let Scientologists pull the woolover their eyes are FOX News' Roger Friedman andCarnegie Mellon University professor David S. Touretzky. The latter has produced a web site devoted to theinvestigation of Scientology's front groups.

    Theophostic Counseling in the news

"A $2 million-plus Taylor County business that sells booksand videos teaching a new form of Christian therapy inmore than 100 countries is generating cries of miraclecures and of criticism to its controversial therapeuticapproach.

Theophostic Ministries, founded by Ed Smith ofCampbellsville, teaches that inside memories of pasttraumatic events are lies embedded by Satan that create

emotional distress in a person's life. A Theophosticfacilitator encourages the person to go back to thememory, and then allows God to reveal the lie.Proponents claim immediate relief from a variety ofemotional problems.

A growing group of vocal critics, however, claims thatefforts to deal with current abuse by resurrectingmemories can lead to the creation of false memoriesduring Theophostic sessions, which can sometimes resultin false allegations."

false Christs and false prophets will appear and performsigns and miracles to deceive the elect--if that werepossible."

In November last year, New Mexico TV station, KOBV TVreported, "The FBI and New Mexico State Police arekeeping a close eye on a group of about 70 people whohave settled in a self-styled cult in northeastern NewMexico. .... They follow a man who calls himself Michaelof Travesser, although they call him Michael theArchangel."

Michael himself also claims to be Jesus: "I have come inthe clouds of heaven to draw all who hear My Spirit intothe clouds of glory with Me. I have come with all of Myholy angels. I have blown the trumpet and I have thrust inMy sickle. Behold, the harvest is come. My children arenow ascending with Me into the clouds, and ever shallthey be with Me, as it is written."

    Pardon Our Electronic Dust

Our A-Z index pages have been growing too large, whichmakes them load too slowly for those without broadbandconnections. Thus we're changing our approach. Overtime, each entry in the index will be on a page by itself. That way pages will load faster, and the entries can beexpanded and updated more easily. Too, this change will

help Apologetics Index users who have been asking foran easier way to link to invidual entries. The ''A'' through''E'' pages are done. You guessed it... ''F'' is next in line.
