Why Be a Volunteer It’s not for money; it’s not for fame. It’s not for any personal gain. It’s just for the love of fellow man It’s just to lend a helping hand. It’s not for medals worn with pride. It’s for that feeling deep inside. It’s that reward down in your heart. It’s the feeling that you’ve been a part. That’s why we volunteer. Author Unknown

A new Pool and Pool house was built last year at Silver Towers and we are now in need of a new walkway to the pool. To help accomplish this the Vermont Elks Association is selling Pavers to have engraved and used as a new walkway. This is a great project and a win-win for both Silver Towers and Burlington Lodge #916. For every paver sold through Burlington Lodge, 100% of the proceeds will be applied to our Silver Towers Assessment.

Purchase a Paver and have it engraved for yourself, in honor of someone else, in memory of a loved one or anything else that you

wish to leave as a mark on Silver Towers.

Thank you to those who have purchased a paver: Wesley Blair, Randall Corey, Members of Burlington #916, Robert Beauvais, Old North End Charities, Kyle Williams, Beth Dusablon, Rosaire & Irene Longe, Jeff & Steve Ploesser, Gary Bartlett, and Hank

Scholarship Update The Scholarship Committee of Burlington Elks Lodge BPOE 916 is pleased to inform our members that the scholarship season has ended for this year. However, we are always mindful of raising money for our 2022 Scholarship recipients. Toward that end, I am in the process of setting up The Dr. John J. Murray Scholarship

Fund to honor our friend and Lodge member, Jack Murray. As most of you know, Jack has served the Lodge as Scholarship Com-mittee Chair for 13 years. We felt it was time that we honored him for his hard work and his service to The Lodge, as well as his ded-ication as Scholarship Chair. During this next year we will be raising money for this new scholarship fund so that it may grow enough to give out its first scholarship next June at Flag Day. We hope to provide a scholarship from this fund every year. All mon-ey raised and donated to The Dr. John J. Murray Scholarship Fund will go through The Burlington Elks Lodge # 916. Consider a donation to honor a loved one or in memory of a family member or friend. For more information, contact Anne Tewksbury-Frye at [email protected] or 802-373-3147. This year at our Flag Day 2021 Ceremony, we were able to present $1,000.00 Scholarships Awards to five deserving High School graduates. The recipients were : Ella DeCelles, Chance Rose, Riley Hammond, Erin Noel, and Gwen Willard. We were fortunate this year to receive Scholarship Funding through the Phil Gimli-mead Scholarship and the Lawrence J and Pearl S Budrow Scholar-ship Grants, as well as The John Bossi Fund, and The Burlington Elks Lodge #916. We are grateful that our Lodge continues to sup-port young people and their excellence in learning every year. Many thanks to the members of the Lodge Scholarship Committee who worked diligently through the academic year. The members are Pat Stone, Paul Gosselin, and Bill Wetherbee.

Anne Tewksbury-Frye Chair, Scholarship Committee

Silver Towers Cleanup The annual Silver Towers Camp clean-up day was held on June 5th. Elks from all 12 Vermont lodges were there

including the 916 crew of ER Wes Blair, Randy and Marcia Corey, Beth and Fred Dusablon. Our lodge is responsible for the recreation building and garage. We cleaned the exterior walls and painted the garage doors and window frames. Weeds were also trimmed around the building.
