Writer of the Month: Ben R.

Inspiring Heart

You should always strive to do better. Inspire yourself to do what needs to be done. But also see forward and walk forward in life. You should inspire yourself to learn and keep learning. Because the only time you should stop is when we take the very last breath. Be inspired to learn. Excitement for life gives spice in your world, in your community. Get excited about who you are and what you stand for. Because there is no one else like you. Be inspired in your heart and then your mind will follow. Get excited for living. Because if you don’t, your heart will turn gray and your mind will grow empty. Ben enjoys writing and wrote this poem, titled Inspiring Heart, to describe the effort to strive to do better in one’s life. He is inspired by the environment and his personal skills. Ben enjoys writing as it helps to calm his mind. He has participated in writing and the Bridgeview Art Pro-gram for 8 years.

Artist of the Month: Ethel H. Ethel’s piece, entitled “Dancing Girl Jill”, shows people dancing and enjoying the music. Ethel has been participating in the Bridgeview Art Program since August 2017. She reports that art brings the beauty out of her and allows her to feel free of stress and worries about things around her while she is making art. She is inspired to create art by her love for people and seeing the good in everyone. Her favorite subject is creating people dancing and enjoying one another’s company.

* If you would like to be artist or writer of the month, please see staff. We would love to feature you in the next newsletter and display your work!

Introducing: Did you know..?? Perceptual Barriers: Each person experiences events, including communications, in a way that is unique to him or her. A sender will communicate in a way that makes sense in his or her reality. A receiver understands a communication in a similar manner. However, these two realities may not be the same, so the message may be perceived differently, hindering communi-cation. Variables including age, education, gender, social and economic status, cultural background, temperament, health, religion, political beliefs, etc. can alter perceptions and create barriers to communication. Let’s go GREEN together! We recently started using silverware and plates from Route 47 twice a week. This has greatly reduced the amount of paper plates and plastic forks we’ve been consuming! Let’s keep up the good work by cutting down on the amount of disposable coffee cups we use! Bring your own reusable coffee mug, and help us do our part in going green!
