Pro Biographies

Francis Alvir, a resident of Northern Virginia, has been in the tennis indus-try for over 30 years. After great success as a junior, he played collegiate tennis at UC Santa Barbara before transferring to University of Virginia. He then began a teaching career, developing winning women’s USTA teams and top ranked juniors. Francis has devoted his life to giving back to the sport that he has earned so much from and currently teaches full-time in Virginia.

Tony Applewhaite was a top-ranked junior tennis player and secured a Division I tennis scholarship from the University of Hartford where, as team captain, he earned first team All-Conference and All-New England honors. He also played in ATP satellite (now futures) events and gained extensive teaching experience in the Mid-Atlantic area and South Carolina. He is currently a communications consultant and strategist at Brunswick Group LLC.

Elliott Datlow was the recipient of the 2014 USTA/Mid-Atlantic Tennis Professional of the Year and was voted “Best Tennis Instructor in Fairfax” by the Sun Gazette newspaper. He played tennis at the University of Kentucky, and continues to play with a recent #1 ranking in USTA/MAS Men’s Open. He cur-rently is a director for Jack Schore Tennis at McLean Sport & Health and serves on the USTA/MAS Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Ellis Ferreira is a former professional tennis player from South Africa earning All-America honors three times at the University of Alabama. He won two Grand Slam doubles titles, the 2000 Australian Open with Rick Leach and the 2001 Aus-tralian Open with Corina Morariu. The 10-time USTA National Champion was also a US Open Finalist and Wimbledon Senior Champion, as well as a Davis Cup and Olympic competitor. Ellis is currently ranked #1 in US Men’s 45 Doubles.

Aaron Gomez is currently employed at the Four Star Tennis Academy in the Super Mats Program. Before being employed at the Academy, Aaron attended Virginia Tech where he studied psychology and played on the VT Men’s Tennis Team for four years. Aaron helped his team reach a ranking as high as 14th in the country, which is the highest ranking VT Men’s Tennis has ever reached.

Damon Gooch grew up in South Africa and was the South African National Doubles Champion and Singles Semi-Finalist u18 and u16 in 2004. He played college tennis at Elon University in North Carolina and was the team’s Most Valuable Player of the Year three times. After his full-time pro debut in 2013, Damon reached a ranking high of 833 in 2015. He currently lives and trains in Washington, DC.

Cameron Lickle is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and was Captain of the Naval Academy’s tennis team in 2002 and 2003. In 2003 he was selected to serve as Captain of All Sports Teams. He was ranked #1 while at the Naval Academy and was inducted to the Naval Academy Sports Hall of Fame. He served five years in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear engineer. He is currently COO at Wilander on Wheels.

Dave Marshall was a nationally-ranked collegiate player and NCAA Semi- Finalist at Washington College in Maryland, and is a part of the MAC 100 Tennis Century Team. He is a 12-time USTA National Champion, with a top-5 USTA rank-ing 5 times and a top-10 ranking 10 times. Dave is currently ranked #1 in US Men’s 45 Doubles. He is owner of the Dave Marshall Tennis Academy and has coached Madison Brengle, Ryler DeHeart, Wayne Odesnik, Cameron Morra, among others.

Patrick Osuna began his junior tennis career in the Mid-Atlantic, quickly becoming one of the top-ranked players in the country. On the path to capturing three National Championships in Singles, Doubles and Team, Patrick became a two-time NCAA All-American at the University of Texas and a two-time All-American at Tyler Texas Junior College. After college, he obtained an ATP world ranking both in singles and doubles throughout 1999-2002.

Kiersten Pappas grew up in Northern Virginia and was a top ranked junior in the Mid-Atlantic. She played tennis at George Mason University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology. While there, she earned All-CAA Third Team honors in Singles and Doubles and played in the No. 1 position all four years. She is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry and has spent the past two years coaching at the Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park, Maryland.

Stanley Pawlowski was born in Long Island, New York. He was a nation-ally ranked junior and trained under the tutelage of Paul Annacone. Stan won many tournaments in his career including both National Hard Courts and Indoor Clay Courts. Stan is currently employed with the Federal Government.

Richey Reneberg attended Southern Methodist University, where he was a three-time All-American. He and his partner Jim Grabb were ranked World No. 1 in doubles and won the 1992 US Open doubles title. He won a second doubles Grand Slam with Jared Palmer at the 1995 Australian Open. Richey represented the U.S. at the 1996 Summer Olympics and also played on the American Davis Cup team. He is currently a Principal at Taconic Capital.

Dan Waldman graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University where he was captain of the Harvard tennis team. Dan has been at the top of the tennis rankings throughout his junior, collegiate and adult competitive years. Dan is recently celebrating his singles and doubles tournament wins at the Over 60 Individual World Championships in France. He is currently a senior partner at the law firm of Arnold & Porter in Washington, DC.
