What Happens at Carnival – SportSports Days - 4 days of sport, including State v State finals
• There will be sport age categories
• Parents, interstate parents and billets welcome to come and watch the finals
• There will be a choice of:

What Happens at Carnival – More Sport
The Maccabi Facility in Perth has numerous
facilities to make use of and we will look to run
some introductory/fun sessions for sports like:
Taekwondo (possible tournament also)
Archery
Qualified instructors for all sessions,
more info to come..

A Typical Day at Carnival
Morning: arrive 8.30-9.00
• Based at Maccabi sports fields
• Outdoor Sports 9.30am-12.00pm
Lunch (all kosher) provided 12.30-2.00pm
• Relax in the indoor chill-out zone with bean bags, games
and music videos
• More kosher food/snacks & drinks available to purchase
from the tuck shop
Afternoon: Indoor Sport: 2.00pm-4.30pm
• Pick up 4.30pm from Maccabi Oval
• Home to freshen up / shower / eat
Evening: Social function
• 7.30pm – 10.30pm
Shabbat
• Participants are encouraged to attend Synagogue with
their billet families
• Host families will have Shabbat with their billets
• Shabbat is a NO sport day and is a chance for all
participants to rest and relax after a busy week
Billeting
• Depending on numbers, a 2:1 or even 3:1 or 4:1 billet/host ratio is anticipated
• You may arrange your own billet with a host family – you will be able to advise as
part of the registration process (once mutual arrangement has been confirmed)
• Other billeting requests will be considered, but will not be guaranteed (multiples,
medical etc)
• Include your request for ‘friends with friends’ when you register, but there are no
guarantees
• Billeting allocations based on:
o Gender / Age / Shomer Shabbat / Kashrut / Sports
• All participants are expected to stay with Carnival host families in Perth, not
with families/households outside of Carnival (family/relatives included)
• Every adult in the host household will be required to submit a valid
working with children check
• The billeting manager has absolute discretion to make decisions as best
in line with the billeting policy
CostsThere are 3 separate components
Registration Fee (includes meals & transport)
• $699 (early-bird)
• $799 from 1st September
• $100 sibling discount - for additional (2nd/3rd) siblings
Airfare (NSW) – $550
Uniform Package (NSW) – $75
• Includes 2 x polo, 1 x shorts, 1 x cap
• Items can be purchased individually
Registrations close 29 November 2019
Thanks to JCA’s Millie Phillips Jewish Education Fund, a
$100 discount is available to all NSW participants(reducing EB registration above to $599)
Team Flights
We encourage all participants to fly with the team as
supervision will be provided on the team flight and airport
transfers will be organised in Perth.
For any participants travelling separate to the team flight, it
must be understood that airport transfers will be your own
responsibility and supervision cannot be provided on non-
team flights.
Note: Bookings with frequent flyer points (on the team flight)
can be made by you, but you must notify team management
of all arrangements.
Uniforms
• The Team NSW Uniform is the same as
previous years (can use from friends / relatives
if you have)
Please note: Specialist sports equipment such as football boots,
basketball shoes, mouthguards, tennis racquets etc. must be
brought by participants
• Cost: $75 (2 x polo, 1 x shorts, 1 x cap)
• Items can be purchased separately
• Polo $25 / Shorts $20 / Caps $15
• We will have a uniform try-on / pick-up day (December)

Cancellation
Cancellation Policy
• Refunds available for cancellations, fees apply:
• Cancellations before 19 November incur admin fee of $60
• Cancellations after 29 November but before 13 December
incur admin fee of $120
• Cancellations after 13 December will be assessed on a case
by case basis
• No refund on returned uniforms (once collected)
Safety, Security, Medical
The security and health of all participants at
Carnival is our top priority
Safety & Security
• All venues are assessed and approved by CSG before being booked. All
venues are swept by CSG before events and sports. CSG will remain at all
venues during sport and social events.
• Youth leaders and Team managers will supervise participants at all
sport / events and on all buses
• Parents or a designated adult (over 18) must drop off and come in to collect
at the end of the day or social event. Participants will not be allowed to
leave ANY venues without an adult collecting them.
• ID tags to be worn at all times.
• Participants are not to catch ANY public transport, Ubers or Taxis
during the duration of Carnival, including on Saturday
Safety, Security, Medical
Medical
• St John Ambulance has been engaged to provide first aid at all venues
• On registration please list all medical conditions.
• Hot weather policy: if the temperature reaches 34ºc or above then sport
will be called off; kids will be supervised in an appropriate/cool
environment.

Member Protection & Code of Conduct• Everyone involved in Carnival must abide by the MPP (including athletes,
youth leaders, team managers and committee).
• The MPP and code of conduct must be read and agreed to by participants
and parents by checking the box (part of the online registration form)
• All participants must comply with the Maccabi Junior Carnival Code of
Conduct which covers areas including
• Billeting
• Smoking, Alcohol and Illegal drugs Policy
• Caffeine policy (incl. energy drinks)
• Weapons
• Personal violence and bullying / cyber bullying
• Serious offenses will result in children being sent home at your expense
• Each adult in the billeting house is required to have a valid working with
children check
• The MPP also covers how grievances are managed.
There will be a compliance officer appointed for Carnival to handle
any issues that need to be escalated.
