The American Chemical Society (ACS) is a nonprofit, scientific and edu-cational organization, chartered by Congress in 1937, with more than 160,000 chemical scientists and engineers as members. As the world’s largest scientific society, ACS advances the chemical enterprise, increases public understanding of chemistry and science, and brings its expertise to bear on state and national matters. ACS has formed
an independent committee of Tennessee ACS members from across the state to lead and advise our efforts, creating the Tennessee Government Affairs Committee (TNGAC). TNGAC works with ACS members across the state to chart an agenda for STEM education reform and to engage with other state education stakeholders such as Chambers of Commerce, business and industry groups, science teacher organizations, and other education constituencies in an effort to provide Tennessee a quality, TECH SAVVY workforce for new and existing jobs.
CITSLINC
The hottest affinity program for chambers is a trip to China. Currently, more than 1,000 chambers of commerce in the U.S.A., Canada and other coun-tries are receiving a combined $6 million in non-dues revenue annually by participating in Citslinc’s China discovery trip, with combined interests of both business and tours. Citslinc charges chambers for the tour package and includes roundtrip
airfare, land transportation, four- and five-star hotel accommodations with three full meals daily, entry fees for all the designated tourist attractions, an English-speaking guide on a comfortable tour bus, a business conference, and all taxes. For each passenger a chamber recruits, Citslinc helps the chamber add up an additional handling charge $200 or $300 to the basic price.

What is the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce Executives? (TCCE)TCCE was organized to enhance the professional growth and development of Chamber executives, staff, and volunteers in the State of Tennessee.
TCCE works to achieve the following goals and objectives:• To foster the professional development of Chamber of Commerce executives and staff.• To enhance status of Chambers of Commerce in the State and Nation.• To provide a communication link between Chamber of Commerce staffs in Tennessee.
TCCE ProgramsWinter ConferenceThis conference is designed to educate the executives, staff and volunteer leadership of the member Chambers. Executives are encouraged to bring officers, board members and key volunteers to this conference. Sessions are planned to educate all of their duties and responsibilities in Chamber operations, and innovative and creative programs from other Chambers. This is held in conjunction with the annual legislative reception. This conference has been set for February 15, 2017 in Nashville.
Tennessee Chamber of Commerce InstituteIn 2002, TCCE conducted its first Tennessee Institute for Chamber employees on the campus of MTSU. It is designed specifically for Chamber employees to learn the “chamber business” from experienced practitioners of the art. It is designed as a two-year certificate program. Contact Suzie Lusk at 615-256-5141 for more information on the 2017 class, which is set for March 5-7. Also, an additional Institute will be offered during the same time for all those who have graduated from TCCE Institute. Institute Continuing Education (ICE) will offer a curriculum that will change annually based on input, industry trends and the economic climate.
Annual Leadership ConferenceThis meeting held during the summer each year provides an educational opportunity for executives to further upgrade their management and Chamber operation skills. Each year programs are conducted to provide attendees with ideas of current trends in Chamber programming, as well as an opportunity to network with their peers. This conference will be held August 23-25, 2017 at the RT Lodge in Maryville, TN.
Institute ScholarshipsEach year TCCE provides scholarships to executives as funds are available to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Organizational Management. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a desire to continue their education, financial need, and participation in TCCE activities. Scholarships are also available for the Tennessee Institute.
