Denham's In Brazil December 25 2011

Thank You Lord! Dear Friends,

Greetings from Brazil! It's summer here in thesouthern hemisphere. I have to say that it feels verystrange to be sitting here looking at our Christmasdecorations on a day that the temperature is in themid 90's. This year has gone by so fast! So much hashappened, so, in these few words, we want to bringyou up to date on what has been our best year inmany ways. By "best" I do not mean easy! There havebeen many challenges, but all of which the Lordbrought us through. We have been blessed to see thefruits of the many years which my parents sowed inthis land. It was our privilege to be able to be a partof this, and see the work growing and reaching thePortuguese speaking peoples of this world in waysthat we could have only dreamed.

Conferences We Praise the Lord for the most attended FIELconference in our history! In 2011 we hosted sixconferences in 3 countries. We want to say a specialthanks to speakers from the States, UK and Zambia. Greg Guilbert was with us at the College conference,

In 2012 FIELhopes tobegin a NewConference inBrazil, it'ssecond pastor and Leaders'conference. Currently we have onlyone conference , which takes placejust outside the city of São Paulo.Next year, Lord willing, we are also

going to Rio de Janeiro. This opportunity was notsomething we were looking for, but something thatmany people over the years have been asking us todo. With the coming of Pr John Piper this year, wewanted to test an event in RIO, which wouldeventually lead to a conference which would visit allthe main capitals of Brazil. Inspiredby events like Gospel Coalition andT4G, we met this last January with agroup of pastors in RIO to organizean event around Pr Piper's visit to theFIEL conference this last October. Weused the statement of FAITH similarto the one produced by theseministries, to clarify what ourintentions were. We are thankful tosay that registrations for the event in RIO with PastorPiper held at the RIO convention center, was fullwithin a few weeks of when it was announced. As a result of this event, the group of pastors andleaders we worked with asked us to begin the a FIELconference in Rio in 2012. Please pray with us as weprepare for these two conferences for Leaders inBrazil.

In addition to this new Brazil conference, we havelong been needing to establish a work in the emergingCapitol of Mozambique: Maputo. For ten years, wehave been blessed to partner with the Medical

"Leadership TrainingCourses." The first being offeredin 2012 are :

missionary CharlesWoodrow for conferences,in the Northern part ofMozambique . With thedifficult transportationquestions, and the factthat the majority ofeducators and learnedleaders are from thesouth, we needed to becloser to this capital city. We have chosen to, in addition to continuing theconference in the north, start a weekend conferencethe week prior in the Capital. Please keep us inyour prayers, as I will need to make a trip to Maputothis march to meet with local missionaries, nationalpastors and ministries, to finalize plans for this firstconference scheduled for July 13, 2012. We havenoticed that other mission boards which have sentmissionaries to Africa, DO NOT send theirmissionaries books, or other resources in Portuguese.This also has opened the door to equip these Christianworkers with books in the Portuguese language. In January I will write about the work in Portugal,and update you on our own Edvanio Silva, who hasheeded the call to serve with FIEL in Portugal.

Publishing Ministry 2011 has been the most productive year everin the FIEL ministry for publishing books! Our EditorTiago Santos, has done atremendous job! This year we willhave published almost two booksa month, and we re-printed morethan forty titles. The new releasesinclude books from Don Carson,Mark Dever, Joshua Harris, JohnMacArthur, R.C Sproul, AlbertMohler, Michael Hakin, MaryBeeke, Adauto Lourenco, JohnCalvin, John Piper, Greg Guilbert ..

free! The production cost permessage is around $500 US. We are currently finishing upthe series called "LET THENATIONS BE GLAD" Wewould love to make muchmore available as funds areavailable!

Story Of God'sProvision:

It is the dream of everymissionary to see the nationalbeliever embrace missions.When mom and dad first cameto Brazil, they could only dreamof the day that the Brazilianchurch would be a sendingchurch. This year, with thatfocus in mind, we at FIELdecided to take our first groupof Brazilians to be a part of thework in Mozambique. We didnot know what to expect, buttrusted that the Lord wasleading us to make this step.

We did not want to make thisa " Missions" trip, but insteadreally expected the Brazilians towork in various forms ofministry at the conference. Thegroup was chosen carefully fromdozens of applicants. ( Thissurprised us!) We selectedthose who we feel could servethe work best. They included 2pastors, workers for children'sministry, a technical couple to

Internet Ministry This year we have seen the online communitydouble since 2010. There are currently 42,000subscribers to our monthly newsletters. Each monththey receive free content such as Audio books,Articles, Ebooks, Videos, and other helpful Freeresources that will aid the Christian worker in theirlives and ministry. Our team is excited to find ways inwhich we can produce and share content. The mostrecent, was the LIVE page. This page as seen bellow ,connected over 55,000 views from around the world,to the FIEL conference. We saw accesses from 55countries, with an avg of 30 minutes per view. We arein need of more content. This is expensive, and as wedo not sell it, the live events have proven to be anuseful in equipping people with the preaching fromthe conferences.

We all worked hard, the localmissionaries were surprisedhow well the Braziliansinteracted and served theconference. They already spokethe Language, and wereimmediately loved by theMozambican people. And, to allof our surprise, after returningfrom the trip, one of the coupleswas responsible for a donationof $200,000 UStoward finishing the Hospital ofour partnering Americanmissionary in Nampula. It isencouraging for us to see howthe Lord chose to use this effortto bring glory to himself and toencourage our partners there inMozambique.

Family News It is time to rest a little before the new yearbegins. Our family is grateful to our Lord for his Loveand protection over our lives. I have had to travelmuch this year, but Kimberlie has even had it harderdue to some physical and emotional challenges. Shehad her Gallbladder removed, and an infection in herintestines, which put her in the hospital for a week.She has also had an emotionally hard year as shefound out her mother is battling cancer.

James and Lilah are doing greatin Brazil. James just finishedfirst grade, and is alreadyreading in Portuguese. He lovesto play tennis, and is alwaysmaking friends. He loves to playand build things. He is a lovinglittle boy, that has the ability tomelt his teacher's heart. We arepretty certain James was histeacher's favorite student. Lilah is our little flower! Sheloves to get into mommiesmake-up, and loves to wearheadbands like in the photoabove. She even sleeps withthem, if we let her! She loves tosing, and is constantly drawingand cutting out her artwork. Sheis so excited about startingschool this January. Sincestarting swimming, she nowcalls herself a mermaid!

My parents are doing well, but in need of constantcare. Dad does not speak much due to his illness, butis able to pray and continues to be an encouragementto us all. Mom is doingwell, and is still able toplay the piano. She evenplayed some at this year'sconference. We will not bereturning to the Statesthis Christmas, as weneed to stay close to myparents and to the work.We have many challengesahead, and covet yourprayers and support.

We hope to make it to the States in 2012, and wouldlove to present opportunities for you to invest in thework being done. There are many challenges andopportunities to faithfully spread sound biblicaltheology to pastors, leaders and families worldwide.We are thankful for several US ministries that haveseen an opportunity to impact not only the Portuguesespeaking world, but to equip one of the next greatestmissionary sending nations on earth. Brazil is poisedto reach Asia and the Muslim world like NO othernation. if we do not invest in lives here, and in themissionaries going, we will have missed a greatopportunity. We have but one life to live, and that
