Asa Cox Homes and CrossCountry Mortgage, Inc. con-tinue to work together as partners of Lake Health. As very generous donors to Lake Health Foundation, nota-bly with their contribution in support of the tiny, special needs infants born at Lake Health, we are grateful for the continued opportunity to reach out to our community via live radio broadcasts at our facilities. Broadcasts will occur with WELW (1330AM) the first and third Tuesday of every month and WKKY (104.7FM) the second and fourth Thursday of every month—both stations either at TriPoint or West Medical Center, or Mentor Campus. A prize wheel keeps everyone engaged as well.

ASA COX HOMES AND

CROSSCOUNTRY MORTGAGE

The Lake County Captains charitable arm, Captains Charities has awarded Lake Health Foundation a $10,000 gift in support of the Lake Health TriPoint Medical Center Wellness Walk. Special focus will be towards installa-tion and upkeep of the Natural Play Area. Features of the path are still in the design phase, but the Play Area may include balancing logs, toadstools for climbing, and more. The entire walking area will be just under 0.7 miles long, with the Play Area just one aspect of this amazing outdoor path with areas for exercise and relaxation for everyone in our community. This wonderful contribution is a nice compliment to The Captains Family Garden, outside of the main TriPoint Emergency Room doors.

Did You Know?Your Donations Make A Difference

In 2013, Lake Health team members contributed more than $115,000! Thank you. Your donations make a difference. Along with contributions from corporations, foundations, and community members, your gifts helped fund the following Lake Health equipment, programs and services.

BE STRONG Program (aka KidShape) - The program mission is to help build healthy families by providing an effective family-based pediatric weight management program for overweight children ages 6 to 14 years old.

Arthrex Ankle Distractor - The distractor is used in the Department of Surgery (Foot & Ankle service). It stabalizes the ankle during the surgery in the appropriate position for safety and comfort.

Lake County Backpack Splash - The program mission is to bring the community together, excite chil-dren about the start of the school year, provide educational services, and connect local service agencies with area families in need. Children receive school supplies, hair cuts, clothing, counseling, and sports physicals. A Lake Health backpack was provided to each child.

Surgical Time Out Video - The video is to be used as a tool to promote patient safety and quality at Lake Health. It will assist in training and maintaining competency of current and new staff members.

Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Review Course - Purchased course book and review question study guide to help Medical-Surgical nurses prepare for the certification exam.

Improving Medication Management and Compliance - As part of a pilot project, a medication dis-pensing unit is placed in the home of 10 designated patients at high risk of not taking their medications properly or not taking them at all. The equipment is designed to improve self-management in collabo-ration with the patient’s primary care team. The study is created to determine if the dispensing unit improves compliance.

Tomosynthesis Installation - Upon receiving a very generous gift from Al and Marie Perrico to pur-chase a Tomosynthesis Mammography Unit, funds for a workstation upgrade and warranty were need-ed. The equipment is very helpful in early detection and ultimately saves lives.

The Healing Enhancement Pilot Project - The program will focus specifically on providing free Tai-Chi and/or Meditation/Reiki sessions for a total of one hour per week at TriPoint and West Medical Cen-ters by certified Reiki Masters/Tai Chi Instructors.

SANE Program - This is an enhancement to the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, program already in place at Lake Health. Nurses will be trained not only in adult cases (SANE-A) but also pediatric cases (SANE-P). Additional equipment for the program was also needed and supported.

Ashley Collins & Ricky Stanzi Charity Golf Outing

Thank you to cousins, Ashley Collins and Ricky Stanzi for hosting the 2nd annual golf outing in memory of Ashley’s mother, Annette Collins and their grandmother, Lena Stanzi. Funds raised support Breast Health Services at the Mentor Campus. A portion of 2013 funds were used to purchase Kindles for each of the chemotherapy stations at the campus. Patients are able to play games, read books and magazines, and more while they are receiving their chemo, providing a needed distraction.

Be part of something bigger!
