We have had an amazing start to the school year! The students are
settled, routines are being learned and lots of learning and fun are
evident in the classrooms. We are preparing for our THANKSGIV-
ING Celebration which will be on Wednesday Oct 7 at 9:40 am, led
by our Grade 8A and 8B students. We are asking families to donate
Food Bank items for our local Food Bank. Thank you in advance for
your donations, it will be put to good use by needy families in our
community.
We have a special event happening in our Parish of St. Joseph - our
Parish Mission. The theme is Get Personal: Living in Relationship
with God and Others. Join us in renewing and strengthening our re-
lationship with God and one another. There will be children’s pro-
grams (Gr 3-5) provided with prior registration, youth programs (Gr
6-12)too. Babysitting for children in Kindergarten to Gr 2 is available
with prior registration at the Parish Office 780-532-2351.
This time of year is a great time to give thanks to God for everything
he has given to us. I am thankful for my family, friends, my job, the
students, staff and parents at our great school. We are all truly so
blessed!! Take a few moments each day to reflect and be thankful, it
is a heart warming activity, and share with your family what you are
thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
In Christ,
Caroline Richards

October 2015
October for my family is a busy month; birthday’s and anniversaries abound, not to mention other activi-ties, as well as thanksgiving and Halloween. Having spoken to others about this, I know that this is not exclusive to my family, it seems an eventful time for most!
The church, like families, has many events and celebrations, and in the month of October there is par-ticular focus put on the Holy Rosary. Pope Paul VI referred to the Rosary as the synthesis of the whole Gospel and indeed it is.
The following quote from Father Mitch Pacwa’s book How to Listen When God Is Speaking: A Guide for Modern-Day Catholics illustrates why Catholics around the world continue to pray the Rosary.
The beauty of the Rosary is that it can be prayed on so many levels, in so many places, individ-ually or communally. [Moreover, the Rosary is a] prayer that spans a wide variety of human interactions. Because the prayers of the Rosary are memorized, we can pray it while doing oth-er tasks, as if we were washing the dishes but at the same time enjoying the company of our family. We can pray it with others, analogous to a family get-together. Or we can spend inti-mate moments with Jesus as we contemplate the mysteries of his life and death.
The line, ‘spend intimate moments with Jesus’ is especially important in light of the upcoming Parish Mission being held in Grande Prairie at St. Joseph’s Church. The theme for the mission is getting per-sonal, and what better way to get more personal with Christ than through the Rosary!
So the challenge for you, during this month of October, is to get to know Jesus through the Holy Rosary. In this month full of events and activities, take the time to pray and get personal with Jesus Christ our Saviour!

SCHOOL COMMUNITY TEAM
We are pleased to have the services of the School
Community Team. What is team? The team is
an inter-agency group that meets in each school
about once a month to help parents and students
who are in need of support from child centered
helping agencies. What services does
team offer? The team offers an opportunity for
parents to come into the school and be a part of a
case conference for parents and school staff.
Why attend team? If you or someone you know
is having a hard time with family relationships,
school problems like attendance or motivation, or
parenting problems then the Team is willing to
help. They can offer advice, suggestions, good
listening and referral information on a wide vari-
ety of topics.
How do I get the help? Phone the school and
ask the Principal or the Classroom Support
Teacher to book a time.
The service is free and confidential.
