Games and activitiesPhoto booth kitIn this downloadable pack you will find:- colour in props- Jacky Ha-Ha A3 frame

What you’ll need:- crafting sticks or dowel - sellotape- colouring pencils/pens- scissors

After colouring in the prop sheets, carefully cut round each shape (ask an adult to help you) and fix a craft stick to the back using a length of tape. Do the same with the frame, fixing a stick to each side. Then set up an area with a blank background and strike a pose!

Book club questionsUse these as a guide to start your discussion.

Games and activitiesTo get everyone thinking about stories, why not play a game of consequences! All you need is a blank piece of paper and a pen each.

Each player writes part of the story on the piece of paper in front of them and then folds the paper so it’s hidden and hands it on with each turn.The structure of the story which each player needs to follow is:- A description - Character 1 name- A description - Character 2 name- Where they meet- What character 1 says- What character 2 says- What happens nextOnce everyone has taken their turn unfold them and read them out loud!The pack also includes a wordsearch and a design your own book cover activity sheet.

1. Why does Jacky become a class clown? Why can’t she stop making jokes, even when she tries?

2. Why is Jackie so impressed by Ms. O’Mara? Who are some of your female role models? Why are they important to you?

3. Why is Jacky afraid of being in the play and giving a speech? How does Jacky overcome her fear?

4. Have you ever stuck up for a friend the way Jacky sticks up for Meredith? Have you ever had a friend stick up for you?

5. How did Jacky get her nickname? How does her nickname continue to shape her life? Do you have a nickname?

6. Do you have a special relationship with someone older as Jacky does with her Nonna? What have you learned from that person that you might not have learned from someone your own age?

7. Jacky has many responsibilities, such as school, after-school activities, and helping to take care of her sisters. When have you felt that you’ve had a lot of responsibilities? How did you manage them?

8. What are some of your talents? What kinds of new talents would you like to explore?

9. Why is Jackie’s speech more meaningful because her mother is present to hear it?

10. Discuss what you think will happen next for Jacky and her family.
