AUGUST 11, 2019 – A Surprise Celebration honoring Greg Pilson for his 20 Years Serving at Robbins First Baptist!

“…Do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased .” Hebrews 13:16

What a wonderful surprise celebration we had on August 11 for Greg Pilson. I want to personally thank Greg (and Betsy) for 20 years of ministry at Robbins First Baptist. God has used your gifts and talents for the furtherance of the Gospel in Robbins and all of Moore County. We are so pleased to call you our Minister of Music. Thank you for 20 great years and we look forward to many more together. We have gotten off to a great start with our new sermon series, “Twenty-Twenty Vision: Discovering God’s Will for Our Church in 2020 and Beyond.” Up to this point, we have taken a close look at where we are (a look in the mirror) and where we are going (looking through a telescope). We will soon look at how we are going to get there and what we will look like when

we arrive. We have looked at three areas RFBC must improve upon: Attendance, Giving, and Service. These are areas that each member and regular attender are called to be faithful in. We also took a deeper look at our purpose (Matthew 28:81-20), vision, mission and motto. God is good. He is merciful. He is true and He is righteous. And I believe that God wants to do some things in and through us individually and as a community of believers (church). In Ephesians 3:20, God tells us that He is able. Able to do what? Look with me…

“Now to Him who is able to

do exceedingly

abundantly above all that

we ask or think, according

to the power that works in

us,” Ephesians 3:20

You see, God is able to do exceedingly more- in the life of the individual and in the life of the church. He wants to do more in my life and in your life as we seek to know Him more.

He also wants to do more in the life of our church: More in Attendance --- More in Giving ---More in Service. I have said it from day one as the pastor of RFBC, that God wants to do something in and through us. That God has His hands on our church and desires to bless us. That God wants RFBC to be “the” church in Robbins that is on the move for Him. I introduced a new Campaign on Sunday, August 25. It is called “Committing Together In…” from Acts 2:42-47. This scripture focuses on the early church and their desire to make 5 things essential in their church: Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, and Evangelism. I believe that we need to focus more on being like this early church and making these 5 things essential in our church. Each of us fulfilling our responsibility to Christ and His church through these 5 areas, and in that, we will see our Attendance, Giving and Service increase by becoming the church God has called us to be. Will you join in this endeavor?

I’m grateful for serving a mighty God. His presence is always with us to help us be faithful to Him. The Lord continues to work in our lives. He gives us the wisdom and strength to face any situation. As we gather to praise Him in a small group setting in different homes, we can feel His Holy Spirit working in us as we sing, fellowship, and share meals. Also, the Lord has been touching the lives of the parishioners to encourage them to trust in Him as they face various difficulties everywhere they go. Pastor: Dr. Ernesto Robledo

Pastor: Dr. Ernesto Robledo

Many thanks to all who attended the trip to Sandy Ridge Memory Care to sing for the residents. We had a great time singing and fellowshipping together. Plans are under way to visit again in the near future. The Adult Choir will begin their regular rehearsals in September. The rehearsals will begin on Sunday, September 22 following the evening service at 6:00 pm. We will begin our Christmas season music and invite others to come join the choir as we sing His praises.

"Oh, What a Savior” by Ernie Haase and Signature Sound

Once I was straying in sin's dark valley No hope within could I see They searched through Heaven And they found a Savior To save a poor lost soul like me. Oh, what a Savior, oh hallelujah His heart was broken on Calvary His hands were nail scarred His side was riven He gave His life-blood for even me. Death's chilly water I'll soon be crossing But His hand, it will lead me safe o'er And then I'll join the chorus in that bright city And sing up there forever and evermore.

Scan the code to listen to this song:

When I first took this interim position, I worried so much…”Will the youth like me? Will they roll their eyes at every word I say? Am I too old? Will I be able to relate to them? Will they talk when I ask questions or stare at me awkwardly? Will I be able to make any difference at all?” If I’m honest, 6 months later, they probably still roll their eyes at some of the things I say, but I quickly learned that nothing I once worried about really mattered in the grand scheme of things. You see, I soon fell in love with the great group of kids we have at RFBC. To my surprise, God carved out a special place in my heart for them and He totally switched my focus off of me and my petty, small-minded thinking. He showed me that if I would get my eyes on Him and that if I made it my goal to show them Him, then He would take care of the rest. He calmed all the fears I had and turned serving our youth into pure joy! This position has kept me at the feet of Jesus because I understand the gravity of what’s at stake. I know the horrible statistics about kids walking away from the church after high school. I’ve watched a few of my own nieces and nephews flounder in recent years. Because of this, I’ve determined that there’s no amount of cool/young/hip programming that will keep our kids in church if they don’t learn, first and foremost, to fall in love with Jesus and stay in constant fellowship with Him through prayer and reading His Word. Cool programming and hip music will do nothing for them when a crisis hits. It’s only their foundational relationship with Jesus Christ that will carry them through! If I leave anything with our kids when my time with them is up, I hope it is this - - that they can wholeheartedly trust that our God is a faithful, detailed, loving Father who they can depend on for friendship and guidance every single day of their lives! All is grace, Becky
