THANA CULTURE

Thana___ probably one of the most terrific place for either class of our society;

elite, middle, poor, villainous or noble, at least in our country. It owes a very bad

image due to multiplicity of factors like disfigurement of law by law enforcers,harassment to the citizenry, abusive attitude towards people, corruption engulfed

premise and baser moral of police staff. Although there are noble and law abiding

officers, rank and file present in this particular cultural setup, yet they are found

in rare examples. Given the present situation, a larger part of our society avoids

to access thanas for sorting out of their genuine complaints and arguments. They

take fear to go to a police station coupled with the idea of no chance of getting

any acceptable solution of their matter.

The prevailing thana culture needs to be redressed in view of the

problems it contains in form of the soaring wound of the society. Some the

helpful corrective measures may be the redefining of the police attitude towards

common people, symbolic expression of friendly environment, certainty of

corruption free working spirit and the strict obedience of rules and regulations.

Illegal detention, harassment and misbehavior should be discouraged. For all this,

a comprehensive change is required in the professional life of police officials as

the prerequisite of positive transformation from darker image to the brighterfuture.

Why suicide is a choice?

THE three dimensional analysis of suicide cases reveals the extreme burden, on

the nervous system of a man, which leads a suicider to take pessimistic step as

the final resort from his sufferings. The magnitude of his mental agony isimmeasurable in terms of feelings by the observers. The life seems to him as

absurd with no prospect of resilience in future. With too many cases of suicide,

the igniting factors are also in abounds. For instance, sense of shame, sense of

guilt, sense of failure, tenuous relationships, menace of hunger and

unemployment, and if no wonder, the attempt to prevent a sexual assault to

intact chastity are some apparent horrible causes of this tragic but coward step at

the part of a human being who is gifted with the blessing of a wit that has the

capacity to knock out any mountainous suffering.

The step is not acceptable in any way. The need is; to prepare to

face mentally any unbecoming, to keep friendly relationships in your close circle,

to build the spirit of bear and tolerance, to attempt to divert attention from stress

by visiting picnic points off and on, to keep you in some useful activities instead of

remaining idle. There should be show of courageous attitude towards challenging

situations. These are the viable tools to make your life happier and ward off any

tragic happening.
