'Meeting Christ in Prayer' wraps up another successful season!
It's hard to believe but last Monday marked the 8th and final weekly meeting for the Meeting Christ in
Prayer group! 20 members of our St.Francis family, guided by the Holy Spirit and in companionship with Jesus, devoted themselves to prayer and community
building. May God continue to bless their journey and may their zeal and love of the Lord continue to be a
light in our parish and inspire others! A special thanks to Jay and Trisha Austin and Kara and
Jon Roberts for their leadership!
Sandwich Sunday A shout out to our 6th graders who lead our Sandwich Sunday ministry last weekend. A huge thank you to all
who gave of their time to lend a helping hand.
Our next Sandwich Sunday is SATURDAY, May 13th following the 4:30 Mass. All are welcome, many hands
make light work.
May 7, 2017 4th Sunday of Easter
“The gatekeeper opens it for him, and the sheep hear his
voice, as the shepherd calls his own sheep by name and leads
them out.” —John 10:3
Today’s Gospel focuses on Jesus’ identity as the shepherd
using the familiar Hebrew Scripture imagery. Jesus is both the gate to the sheepfold and the shepherd willing to suffer for his flock. The invitation is to
follow this wounded shepherd, knowing that we have been healed precisely by his wounds. In a world
obsessed with power and strength, what image would motivate someone to follow him?
Holy Father’s Prayer Intentions for May Christians in Africa
That Christians in Africa, in imitation of the Merciful Jesus, may give prophetic witness to reconciliation,
justice, and peace.
