PREFACE

This international meeting celebrates its 17th anniversary. As in the past, themeeting is organized by the Association for the Promotion of Research inArteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology (ATVB), Vienna, Austria. Itis patronized by the European Platelet Academy (EPA), and by the WorkingGroup on Thrombosis of the ESC, respectively.

In 2016, more than 40 international and national experts will guarantee an interesting conference with important topics illustrating the mostcontemporary and topical clinical research data mainly in the field of acutecoronary syndromes, acute cardiac care, atrial fibrillation, heart failure andprevention (including new treatment strategies in lipid lowering, hypertension, and diabetes). A major focus will be on pharmacotherapy and devices as hasbeen the case in prior meetings.. Master lectures and interactive clinical casediscussions would extend our knowledge and enhance the practical relevanceof the program.

The number of attendees is limited to a maximum of 100 participants in orderto stimulate intense discussions with international experts on casepresentations and main topics – a rare situation in our world of mega-congresses. The invited experts will stay for the whole meeting and have animportant impact on these discussions.

The organizers will also invite the presenters of the best abstracts (a maximumof 18 abstracts will be accepted) to discuss their data with faculty membersin moderated poster presentations. The “best-of-translational medicine” and“best-of-clinical medicine” posters will be awarded with 3,000 € in total. Thisservice will mainly refer to the group of young “cardiologists of tomorrow”. Inaddition, presenters of posters will have free access to the whole meeting.

We would welcome your participation at this meeting.

With best regards

Kurt Huber(for the organizers)
