All I have needed, Thy hand hath provided— Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me! SERMON NOTES
1. Give Thanks for His Steadfast Love
2. Remember His Faithfulness in Trials
3. Rejoice in His Victory
BIG IDEA: THE CALLING OF GOD'S PEOPLE FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION
For generations God’s people have gathered to declare God’s goodness and faithfulness. God created the sabbath to weekly remind us of our eternal rest in the kingdom of heaven. His people look forward to
Sunday as a day to remember and rest in His redeeming work. They declare, This is the day the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. –Psalm 118:24 Psalm 118 was written to celebrate God’s steadfast love. It reminds us that His Church is not sustained through our strength but by the strong arm of God. This Psalm was sung at Passover celebrations, recalling the story of God’s goodness and was most likely sung by Jesus at the Last Supper. It was known as Martin Luther’s favorite Psalm and Augustine preached 32 sermons based on this text. Our founding pastor, Dr. D. James Kennedy, would begin the Sunday morning worship service by declaring Psalm 118:24 from the narthex. It signaled that it was time to stand and sing praise to our King. Today we celebrate 60 years of God’s faithful work at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. As God’s people, we will give thanks for his steadfast love and pray for the gospel to go forth from one generation to another. Thank you for setting aside this special day to rejoice with us!
Forever Hopeful,
