The Mission of this newsletter is to lock the reader on to some of our recent activities and also a few of our upcoming programs. One more year goes by and TFTT continues as a primary leader in the arena of training warriors. After 18 years in business, we continue to grow stronger each year. I wish to express extreme gratitude and special thanks to all of our student’s, clients and friends. Without you we would not be where we are at now. I am truly proud to see TFTT/Direct Action Group grow over the years and I will always insure that the quality of our services to our client never falters. This course is one that I put much thought into when I was formulating the syllabus and manuals. The TFTT SWAT Operations and Tactics Course (SOAT) has been formatted to offer a wide variety of specialized tactics, techniques and procedures for today’s SWAT officer. The SOAT course is not a basic SWAT class. This program is intended to be an augmentation of your existing SWAT SOP’s and TTP’s – and it fits this bill very well. No matter how good you consider your team to be, I guarantee that this course will open the eyes of your officers or troops to new ideas. There is no PT involved as we expect all officers to be in fit condition already! This is a hands on program with very little classroom lecture involved. This course will present an excellent opportunity for your team to see where they are on the tactical food chain. Contact the TFTT office for specifics of arranging one for your team or unit. VOL. 15 ISSUE #1 – 15 January 2009

INTRODUCTION - Welcome to another issue of the TFTT Sentry. The Mission of this newsletter is to lock the

reader on to some of our recent activities and also a few of our upcoming programs. One more year

goes by and TFTT continues as a primary leader in the arena of training warriors. After 18 years in business, we continue to grow stronger each year. I wish to express extreme gratitude and special

thanks to all of our student’s, clients and friends. Without you we would not be where we are at now. I

am truly proud to see TFTT/Direct Action Group grow over the years and I will always insure that the quality of our services to our client never falters. Those of you who have trained with our Company

know the high standards of excellence that TFTT/Direct Action Group has always provided. For those

of you who have not yet experienced the intensity of our courses, I encourage you to call our office to

schedule a program for this year. It has been a busy year and we have all been traveling extensively as usual. We are happy to announce several new improvements we have implemented over the last year.

Primarily, our web site - www.tftt.com has been totally updated to better reflect our schedule and other

formatted information. I wish to thank Roman Fisher for all his work on this project and many others that he performs in an exemplary manner to assist TFTT.

Finally, I would be remiss if I did not mention the Presidential election of 2008. Let us hope that

the new administration makes wise decisions regarding the global war against terrorism and that the

support and safety of our troops and police officers does not diminish. Keep a positive mental attitude.

TFTT SWAT OPERATIONS & TACTICS COURSE

This program has become the most widely sought TFTT/DAG course by departments

nationwide. This course is one that I put much thought into when I was formulating the syllabus and

manuals. The TFTT SWAT Operations and Tactics Course (SOAT) has been formatted to offer a wide

variety of specialized tactics, techniques and procedures for today’s SWAT officer. The SOAT course is not a basic SWAT class. This program is intended to be an augmentation of your existing SWAT SOP’s

and TTP’s – and it fits this bill very well. No

matter how good you consider your team to be, I guarantee that this course will open the eyes of

your officers or troops to new ideas. There is no

PT involved as we expect all officers to be in fit condition already! This is a hands on program

with very little classroom lecture involved. This

course will present an excellent opportunity for

your team to see where they are on the tactical food chain. Contact the TFTT office for specifics

of arranging one for your team or unit. Please

refer to the TFTT web site for course objectives.

COMBAT ARTS SEMINAR 2007 COMBAT ARTS SEMINAR 2008

TFTT COMBAT ARTS SEMINAR! The annual TFTT/DAG Combat Arts Seminar is an event out here in Los Angeles that you don’t

want to miss! This is the most motivating and cost effective event that you can participate in with TFTT.

This event encompasses three days in which five different classes are conducted by different

instructors. There are two classes per squad each day with the third day securing about 1300 to retire to a hall for a guest speaker followed by a full catered dinner with chow and drinks provided by TFTT.

The cost of this event is less than any of our standard three day classes. We host this annual event to

bring my whole staff together at once and to also allow new clientele to review the highlights of our best programs and to meet the TFTT/DAG cadre.

For the 2007 CAS, Shawn Lewis from Dallas served as guest speaker to talk about worldwide

high risk operations and specifically the attack upon himself, his principle and motorcade by Islamo

terrorists in Baghdad. I have heard many motivating debriefs in my life, and I will tell you that Shawn’s rates among the top. The talk focused on how proper and intensely repetitive training will save your life!

Damn good job Shawn.

The 2008 CAS featured Alan “Kiwi” Brosnan from TEES covering a huge variety of Special Operation subjects and quite a few funny stories. I started out in this career with Kiwi many years ago,

and it was a huge honor to have him come out to LA for this event. For those of you familiar with Kiwi

be advised that TEES is back in business and continues to offer the highest level Explosive Breaching programs available.

Combat Arts Seminar 2009 is already on the calendar and it will be the best yet. Check out the

TFTT web site for a video clip from last years CAS. My great thanks go out to my staff, who put much

hard work into all of our programs over this last year and especially the annual CAS. Without them this event would never take place.

TIGHT BUDGETS AND TOUGH TIMES BY – TIM SCARROTT

There is no doubt this is a serious time of need for our country in terms of economics and

stability and very few of us have been left untouched by today’s hardships. I believe that any

specialized skill set will become increasingly valuable as our country forges ahead and this could not be truer in relation to tactical skills. We know that individual tactical abilities including weapons,

Combatives and mindset are extremely perishable and tactics themselves suffer regression at a much

higher rate. This is absolutely NOT the time to take a year off of training and wait on the economy or

you will find your skills declining at an alarming rate. Whether we need to focus on core skills or specialized tactical programs we must remember that it is our responsibility to be prepared at all times.

Create a training plan early and stick to your plan – decide how much you NEED to train and make it

happen. I will look forward to seeing all of you on the range this year.

ADVANCED PISTOL OPERATOR COURSE

The TFTT Advanced Pistol Operator Course (APOC) is designed to be the highest augmentation for operators who carry a pistol in high risk environments. This is a high level course that

will challenge you regardless of your prior training elsewhere. APOC is a Combat Survival Pistol course

that is designed for those who are fit, and have proven your skills with prior training. You don’t want to miss this one! 40 hour Certificate provided upon successful completion. Prerequisites – TFTT Tactical

Pistol Level 3 course or other 40 hour course from a recognized agency/facility. Please refer to the

TFTT web site for course objectives.

A PRACTICAL NEW YEARS RESOLUTION BY – “GUNNY” BUNKER

Well…here we are…another year behind us, and another one looming on the horizon…and with it: CHANGE. With that come the annual resolutions along with the advanced and master methods to

applying new and improved answers to questions that don’t exist. Those who practice the study of

history in general know one thing for sure, when we do not learn from past experience, we are destined to get a less forgiving lesson when it repeats itself.

History has taught me that there will be more new and modern ways to make proven battle-

pistols less reliable, more new and improved gadgets to make the issue-rifle heavier and less portable,

and even more ways to reduce the service-shotgun’s reliability and utility. No-doubt there is also an armchair gunslinger out there somewhere that will try to convince another generation that there is a

new and modern technique of unsighted-fire that will make the forward-sight obsolete.

Here and now, I propose a resolution to those reading this newsletter: Reset your routine and start practicing MINDSET and preparedness in all aspects of your program. Confirm that you have a

firm grasp on the BASIC and fundamental skills in both your tactics and weaponcraft. Sort your tools,

ensure both your primary, secondary, and back-ups are practical and RELIABLE. Then come out and

show us you can manipulate them efficiently and SAFELY. Spend less time shopping for new gadgets and gear and more time proving and training with what you got right-now. Oh, and by the way, its not all

the gear that makes you look fat…it’s the FAT that makes you look fat. Remember, when the flag-flies,

the horns-blow, and the range goes both-ways…It’s no longer relevant what you once did, it’s what you can do upon demand in whatever shape you’re in with whatever you got in your hands.

MTT COURSES

Our Mobile Training Team courses continue to represent a large portion of our workload each year. The departments and units that bring the TFTT Cadre to their site all recognize the high intensity

of the training and huge savings over having to bring their personnel out to our location. I always look

forward to these as it is always good to travel to new areas and meet new operators. If you act as the

sponsoring officer for any of our MTT courses, your department will receive several free slots on the roster. Good way to train for free! Give us a call and set up a TFTT MTT course for your unit. I

guarantee you that you will be surprised at how cost effective the training can be.

PONTE GROSSE, BRAZIL - ADVANCED SNIPER – TEES BRAZIL

TRAIN AS YOU FIGHT & FIGHT AS

YOU TRAIN! We are well known for not catering to the lowest

common denominator during training, or for that matter not taking long lunch breaks either. I am proud of this facet of

our company. When we are conducting tactical training, it

should resemble a call out. When we are involved with a

high cadence of gunfire, loud verbal commands, flash bangs and other high testosterone activities, then we take

a break in mental contact, there is a post adrenaline dump

that takes place. This causes the men to be sluggish when they fall back in. Just like a call out, you drive on and

provide yourself with light sustenance. We need to keep

the momentum of the training up. The tempo of training

should be consistent and strong at all times to reflect that of an operational environment. Keep that in mind when you show up for one of our classes, be

prepared to work – you are not paying to eat – you are paying to train. Additionally, be advised that

body armor is mandatory on all TFTT live fire classes.

NEW TFTT TARGETS

We have recently premiered a new series of TFTT Combat Shooting targets. This is something that I have wanted to do for years, and finally got around to checking the box. There are three different

options available at present. TFTT-01 is

designed for close quarter work and features a six inch square in the upper

chest are and a six octagon in the head

area. TFTT-02 has standard IPSC kill zones in the body which serve as a

qualification target for our Tactical Pistol

classes. This target also features our

standard six inch octagon in the head. TFTT-08 is designed for our Two Man

Team Tactics training and features two

hostiles in a rough High/Low position and has the 6x6 square in the chests and the 6x6 octagon in the heads. Kill zone lines are fainter on

the actual targets and are invisible beyond 7 yards. Be advised that TFTT-08 is a little longer than

pictured here and the body/hit portions visible are the same for both the high and low images. Many

thanks go out to Steve Miller for his hard work. These targets are available through Law Enforcement Targets out of Minnesota. 1-800-779-0182 or visit their

site at – www.letargets.com

In closing, I hope to see you all out at the range

sometime this year either in Los Angeles or at your site.

Until then – Keep Your Powder Dry!
