Introduction The following guide will walk you through the settings necessary to setup and gain access to TFS e-mail. To get started, select the method you would like to use to check your e-mail and follow the steps to set it up:
1. Check your e-mail via your Smart Phone or Tablet

3. Check your e-mail via Outlook from your desktop or laptop

1.0 Setup your Smart Phone Many smart phones and tablets differ in how they are setup but no matter the device, the settings used will be the same.
1. On your smart phone or tablet, open the “Settings” area and start the process of adding a new e-mail account.
2. If asked what type of account, choose “Exchange” or “Microsoft ActiveSync”.
3. Type in your information: a. Name (optional): TFS b. Email Address: [Your e-mail address] c. Password: [Your TFS e-mail password]
(Note: Most smart phones and tablets should automatically download the settings necessary when you hit next / verify.)
4. If your device asks for additional information, you may need to give it some or all of the following:
a. Domain: TFSHQ1 b. Server: tfsowa.tamu.edu c. Username: [Your TFS e-mail username] d. Use SSL: Yes
5. Once the settings are verified, you can choose what type of info to sync such as:
a. Mail b. Contacts c. Calendars d. Tasks (where available)

2.0 Access E-mail via your Web Browser
1. Open your preferred web browser.
2. Navigate to https://tfsowa.tamu.edu.
3. Login to the Outlook Web App with your TFS e-mail username and password.
(Note: The TFS Outlook Web App is certified to work in the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox and Safari.)

3.0 Setup Outlook on your Computer Whether you have used Outlook before or want to use it for the first time, use the following settings to configure Outlook on your computer for use with TFS e-mail.
1. If you have Outlook open, close it.
2. Open the “Control Panel”.
3. Search for “mail”.

4. Click on the “Mail (32-bit)” control panel to open it.
5. Click “Show Profiles…”

6. In the Mail window, click “Add”. (Note: Your screen may look different than the screen shot below. This is ok.)
7. Type in a profile name. We recommend using your username here. For example, if your name is Will Smith, enter wsmith.
8. Click “Ok”.

9. Once the “Auto Account Setup” wizard comes up, fill in the following information: a. [Your name]
For example: Smith, Will b. [Your e-mail address] c. [Your password]
10. Click “Next”.

11. Outlook will automatically search for your settings. (Note: This may take several minutes to complete.)
12. You will be asked for your TFS e-mail password several times. Please provide it when
prompted.

13. When you have check marks across the board, click “Finish”.
14. Tell Outlook to use the profile we just created. Click the drop down list and select the
profile name you specified in step 7.

15. Click “Apply” and then click “Ok”.
16. You’re all done! Now, open Outlook. (Note: You will be asked for your TFS password upon startup. This is by design.)

17. Outlook will immediately begin a one-time sync / download of your e-mail. This will take some time. (Tip: Outlook will show “All folders up to date” when it is complete.)
(Note: Depending on how much e-mail you have, the one-time sync may take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. Your internet connection speed is also a factor in how long this will take. You can use Outlook while it is syncing but it may a little sluggish. You can always use the TFS Outlook Web App at https://tfsowa.tamu.edu while you wait for Outlook to finish.)
