With a smile on his face, Li Zong Ming said “When the president had fully finished the dishes, the students and I felted a sense of fulfillment.” Li also announced that he will spread his porgy dishes internationally with the help of the News Department from Executive Yuan. Furthermore, Li wishes to open Taiwanese porgy cuisine restaurants in China and let Tainan cuisine shine throughout mainland China.

Li Zong Ming shared his porgy cuisine with President Ma. That day, Li and his fellow students made their dishes fresh on the spot. They made porgy dishes such as Cheese Porgy Hot Pot, Porgy with Sesame Oil Noodles, Golden Sand Porgy, Baked Porgy’s Chin, Yu Jhu Steamed Porgy, and Shredded Bamboo Porgy Soup. Li Zong Ming indicated that the ingredients for these dishes are all local Tainan ingredients.

The Creator of a series of Taiwanese porgy cuisine, Li Zong Ming, got awarded by President Ma for the medal “Hero of Taiwan” last month. With the “support” of President Ma, Li Zong Ming’s business had spread from Tainan to Taichung and Taipei. Li Zong Ming also plans to use his porgy cuisine to “counter-attack” mainland China.

LESSON 15. CHINESE ZODIAC PART 1

Living

Unlike western zodiac, which is monthly based, Chinese zodiac is annully

based. For example, this year (year of 2011) is the year of Rabbit, next year

will then be year of Dragon, and last year, 2010, will be year of Tiger.

The sequence, based on a legend, is set by a river-crossing competition.

But you might wonder how a rat crossed the river faster than ox, tiger,

and even dragon. If you want to know the answer, don’t forget to read the

second part of Everyday Taiwanese in the next issue! (or Google)second part of Everyday Taiwanese in the next issue! (or Google)
