The Stroud International Textile Festival invites you
to join us on the Textile Trail to visit artists in their studios
from the middle of Stroud, out through the Golden Valley,
and on to Cirencester.
The Textile Trail 2011 has been created for you to go from
studio to studio visiting Stroud and Cirencester textile
artists, each in their own creative and colourful environment.
You’ll be able to meet each artist and discuss their work,
discover what inspires and motivates them and buy direct
or commission new work. Enjoy visiting studios that nestle
in back gardens or sit snugly on the edge of woodland.
Alexander Caminada’s photographs in this brochure are
just a taste of what you’ll find.

Matthew Harris Uplands Cottage, 99 Slad Road, Stroud GL5 1QZ
www.matthewharriscloth.co.uk
Matthew Harris makes work that employs dyeing, cutting
and hand stitching. It is concerned primarily with abstract
imagery and the translation of drawn marks into cloth.
By making work that is pieced, patched and assembled,
he aims to create pieces that explore repetition, pattern
and the disrupted or dissonant journey of line and image
across and through the surface of cloth. On show will be
finished cloth pieces, drawings, collages and samples.
The studio is a short walk from Stroud town centre:
Uplands Cottage is on Slad Road, five houses along from
the Fountain pub, on the left hand side. The studio is set
back, off the B4070, Slad Road. Take the path to the right
of the house and go up as far as the small green gate on
the left.

Tim Parry-WilliamsThe Ferns, Springfield Road, Stroud GL5 1UB
t: 01453 751335
Tim is a weaver whose work explores the textures and
tendencies of carefully selected materials, together with
appropriate colour or pattern. Studio practice involves
sampling and weaving of one-off units. This is often
speculative and directly reflects contemporary cycles of
research or inspiration. On show are domestic linens,
scarves and fabric lengths. Some work is for sale.
The studio is a short walk from Stroud town centre:
at the junction of Slad Road and Lansdown turn into
Springfield Road at the Fountain pub. The Ferns is up
behind the Post Office on the left hand side.
