What are our magic numbers?
Huey Fischer
Each Precinct Chair should organize a block walk in Late October.Block walking is the most-effective method of winning votes!
If you knock on a Democratic door, ask if they will need any assistance (ride, reminders, etc) on election day.
If you knock on a Republican door, be respectful! If they are adamantly for Perry, don’t get into a heated debate… It is probably too late. Talk up other Democrats down the ballot. Tell them to give “Democrats a shot” by not voting straight –ticket. If you sound rational and like a neighbor, they can and will be convinced.
If you knock on an Undecided/Apathetic door, then make a classic pitch. Let them know who is running (Have lists of our candidates to hand out.) and explain why they are instrumental to making Texas better.
Block Walking
If there is a parade to be in your community, then get Democrats involved.Hand out candy or water.
Have little Democratic notes attached to each.Invite all SD-18 Democrats, especially
candidates! The more, the merrier. We want to show that
Democrats are a viable force in the area.March with signs.
None that insult Republicans, we do not want to alienate folks.
Have clever, or at least cheesy, slogans…“Only Olney Can” “There’s a VOID without LLOYD” “Bill
White- Big Brains, not Big Hair”
Parades
Facebook is a great resource for coordinating a successful campaign.
Communicate with other Democrats to organize effective campaign strategies and events.
Help remind folks around the state to vote by posting on their “wall.”
If you are on Facebook and you haven’t already, please join the “Texas SD-18 Democrats” group.Stay up-to-date on SD-18 activities, discussions,
