The “Green Jacket of Pilot” Texas District Hall of Fame Award

“THE GREEN JACKET OF PILOT”The Hall of Fame Award is the highest award given to an individual in the Texas District. This award represents a club lifetime of achievement in Pilot.

The model for this award was taken from an acrylic on canvas painting titled “Green Jacket” by Stephanie Gibbs of Daytona Beach Community College, accepted to Boston Museum School of Art, 1998. The canvas was purchased in an auction during the 1998 Pilot International Convention, Orlando, FL. The green jacket painting speaks of what being a Pilot is all about: Pilots pull off their jackets and pitch into the work of supporting needy community projects. The newspaper implies that they are well informed. The cloth suggests that a Pilot is either wiping a brow, or wiping away a tear. The empty chair symbolizes the mobility of a Pilot, never resting when there is work to be done.

This award prepared February 1999, and submitted by Texas District Governor 97/98 Joanna Horton Pilot Club of Winnsboro and Texas District Secretary 97/98 Betty Reese Pilot Club of Mt Pleasant. This award will be a plaque.

The award recipient will be chosen through the Texas District Awards Jury appointed by the Texas District Governor. Nominees may be made by each Texas District club in good standing, by such a date as designated by the Awards criteria. Nominee will be presented in text form. No individual winner will be repeated. The winner of the annual award will be announced during the Awards Program at the Texas District Convention.
