How To use your medicine eye drops

1. Wash hands and then gently clean the aye lid

2. Lean the head backward and direct your gaze upwards

3. Use your forefinger gently pull down the eye lid of the eye that is to be treated. Place the tip close to the eye and squeeze gently, so that one drop fall into the eye

4. Close your eyes, and move the eyeball from side to side. Remove any discharge of the eye by gauze or tissue.

SAFETY MEASURES• Always check the label on your eye drop bottle before instilling your drops.• Never over medicate.• Do not adjust the frequency and/or the number of eye drops you have been

prescribed without consulting your eye care practitioner.• Never store your eye drops in the glove box of a vehicle or in similar

potentially hot areas.• To minimise contamination, after the bottle has been opened, do not let the

tip of the bottle touch your eyes, fingers, or any other surface.• Ensure you discard the eye drop bottle and contents after the

recommended use-by-date. • Never allow a person to use your eye drops and make sure that you never

use anyone else’s drops.• Keep eye drops out of the reach of children.• If you wear contact lenses, they should be removed before you instill your

drops. You can replace your contact lenses 15 minutes after instillation.• Use a clean tissue to wipe spilt medication from your face.• Some eye drops sting or irritate the eye for a short time. If symptoms

persist, speak to your eye care practitioner.• Avoid stockpiling unopened eye drop bottles.• Never miss a scheduled appointment with your eye care practitioner.• If you have difficulty instilling your eye drops consider asking a

friend/relative/nurse to instill them in your eyes for you.

HOW TO INSTILL EYE DROPS1. Wash your hands thoroughly.2. You can choose to carry out the next steps standing up, sitting

comfortably or lying down.3. Carefully remove the cap of the eye drop bottle; ensure that the tip

doesn’t touch anything.4. Tilt your head back (not required if lying down) and look up.5. Gently pull the lower eyelid away from the eye to form a pocket (or

pouch).6. Position the tip of the bottle directly over this region.

Hold the bottle as vertically as possible.

7. Gently squeeze the bottle. Try to allow only one drop to fall onto the inside of the lower eyelid.

8. Look down, then release the eyelid and close your eye without blinking or squeezing the eyelid or rolling the eye around.

9. Press the tip of your index finger against the inside corner of the closed eye, applying gentle pressure over the drainage canal openings and hold

gently for at least two minutes. 10. Gently wipe off any excess medication that may have spilt onto your face

with a clean disposable tissue or cotton make-up pad.11. Repeat step 4 to 10 if you need to instill an eye drop in the opposite eye.12. If you have a number of different eye drops to administer, leave at least 5

– 10 minutes between each different drop.

Cuci tangan dengan sabun

Hangatkan botol tetes telinga sampai mendekati suhu tubuh dengan cara menggenggamnya

selama beberapa menit.

Buka tutup botol tetes telinga dan periksalah

ujung penetesnya untuk memastikan tidak pecah

atau patah. Jangan menyentuh ujung penetes

dengan apapun.

Tarik daun telinga perlahan untuk membuka liang telinga. Teteskan sesuai jumlah yang diinginkan ke dalam telinga

Miringkan kepala ke satu sisi atau berbaringlah miring

sehingga telinga yang akan diobati berada di atas

Ulangi langkah tersebut untuk telinga lain jika perlu

Tetaplah pada posisi miring atau berbaring

miring selama beberapa menit untuk memastikan

obat masuk ke dalam

Tutup kembali botol dengan benar dan cuci

tangan kembali.
