STEP ONE

Get an up-to-date copy of your premises floor plan. These are usually scaled 1:100 or 1:200. You will require a plan for each floor you are assessing. Figure 1

STEP TWO

Take two photocopies of your plan on A4 size paper or trace out the floor area on A4 size paper. Figure 2

STEP THREE

With the first copy of your floor plan, divide each area into Zones. Figure 3

Choose the first Zone you want to assess. Draw a sketch of the zone, roughly to scale on an A4 sheet of paper. Trace a second copy. Figure 4
