Terry Roberts, a loan officer with Veterans United Home Loans, believes that his mission is to serve Veteran communities in a Christ- like manner and to help fellow veterans take advantage of their VA benefits. After serving in the Marine Corps for 9 years, Roberts can understand the challenges veterans face once they are discharged. Having been homeless for a brief period himself, his focus as Board President of Welcome Home is to lead its current, short and long-term focus so that the organization can continue to be an ongoing resource for veterans. His experiences as a volunteer with Welcome Home have taught him that there is no stereotype to those who need support. Veterans of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds, men and women alike, need support transitioning back to civilian life after serving. He is passionate to have people remember that veterans are one of America’s most precious resources, and that it is our responsibility to treat them as such. Describing himself as a very determined individual, Roberts has learned from mentors like Larry Potterfield, who taught him what it takes to build long-term sustainability into an organization, and Brock Bukowsky, who taught him the power and impact that grace can have on culture. When he’s not working or volunteering at Welcome Home, Roberts enjoys exercising and spending time with his family.
