Security: Unknown vandals broke out the kitchen window of our clubhouse. The pool area was vandalized. We are upgrading the security system. Several mailboxes were damaged. Two juveniles ran away from home but returned later in good health. Two family disturbances were reported with no charges filed. An abandoned 2013 grey Ford Focus was towed away to storage. Now that school has started, let’s all drive the posted speed limit of 20 mph!

Beautification: We are continuing with the irrigation this fall for the bushes that will be planted in the spring to balance the landscaping of TC Jester between Springton and Glenmere. The light poles found around the neighborhood are gradually being used to replace damaged light poles. As the neighborhood matures, our beautiful trees, in some cases, have grown over the streets creating potential for damage to tall vehicles or to the trees themselves. Please trim trees that are growing into or over the street to help maintain a safe and attractive neighborhood.

Pool/Clubhouse: Regrettably, the parts to fix the pool slide have been delayed, but we hope you all have enjoyed our beautiful pool. Bill Carpenter and Arthur Oden installed the new tables at the pool. Bids are being taken to install shade structures around the baby pool. The Clubhouse was rented twice.

Financial: Peter Vogel, our Treasurer, reports that 97% of our neighbors have paid their POA assessment. This is a great boost to replacing our reserve cash.

Architectural Review and Deed Restrictions: Our management company, Chaparral, diligently drove the neighborhood and found the need to send 145 courtesy letters reminding us of areas around our

homes in need of repair. We know it’s hot outside but we still need to keep each house looking well-groomed for the sake of the entire community. On the other hand, 14 residents filed ARC requests for approval of home improvements from fixing the front door to house painting to installing a new play set/trampoline or basketball goal. The system is: the homeowner submits the plans for improvement before starting work; the ARC reviews the plan; usually the plan is approved. When it is not, the ARC contacts the homeowner to modify the plan so that it fits with our deed restrictions.

Updates: We understand from Representative Debbie Riddle that the proposed Federally-subsidized housing project at Louetta and Kuykendahl has not been funded and is very low on the list of the remaining 56 projects so that it will probably never be built. Because TC Jester has been deemed a major north/south throughway, the County is proceeding with the traffic light that will be placed at Glenmere and TC Jester as well as the additional 8 lights that will be placed on TC Jester from FM 1960 to 2920. We thank the homeowners who attended our August board meeting to be updated on these issues.

Announcement: Judy Gordon, our dedicated Chaparral management representative, is retiring. Her leadership for our neighborhood board has been tremendous. We will miss her but wish her a well-deserved rest. We welcome Stacy Johnston as Judy’s replacement.

We congratulate the swim team officers for next season: President Colton Green, Vice President Scott Wittmer and Treasurer Joe Bennett. Congratulations, Tidal Waves, for a successful 2013 season.

Editor’s Note : Teenaged Job Seekers - If you were born in 1995 or earlier, your name has been removed from the list. If anyone knows of a person listed who has moved, or if your teenager no longer wishes to be listed, please send a note to the editor requesting removal. Thank you.
